Amazing they didn't keep the innovative streak going. They had the potential to be Amazon....such a shame. I love kmart, they gave me my first job in high school. So sad to see it failing, I hope it survives.
$19.99 in the year 2020! $24.99 for blu ray Then again, with streaming services, you can literally download movies for a small monthly subscription payment that's better than blockbuster's membership!
1:08 $599 for a digital camera in 1999!? In today’s inflation that would be close to $900 thats one expensive camera and the resolution is 1280x960. Today you can get a decent camera for about $100-$150 with a very high resolution and 1080p video. Crazy how technology is advancing very quickly!
it's cheap because China subsidizes the cost by paying slave labor wages. Factor in the hidden costs of that camera--the demise of American manufacturing, increasing poverty, the opioid epidemic, the rise of white nationalism, the spread of Chinese imperialism--and the price of that camera starts to look very expensive. A real devil's bargain.
This was Kmart's final time being a competitor to Walmart and Target. Once they emerge from bankruptcy they had the wise idea to buy Sears! That was their demise, because if they could have invested that money into their stores they wouldn't look exactly like they do in this video today! Talk about stuck in the 90's!
They were extremely new- debuting only a couple years earlier, and actually that's a HUGE discount compared to places like Circuit City where they ran $1,000 or more!
There were other DVD players that were less expensive. Circuit city had DVD players for around $250. Kmart showed one of the high end players they had in inventory.
This made no sense. They were going to essentially drop ship all this stuff that they did not stock and probably didn't make much money on. Then when someone didn't like it, they were supposed to return it to their nearest KMart who probably had no way to get it back to where it came from. Not to mention, you were to come into the store and order it vs. order from home. This had disaster written all over it.
In 1999 most of the country wasn't doing internet shopping. The internet was mainly being used for forums, email, blogs, chat rooms, gaming, and news sites.
The music reminds of me of what they played on The Weather Channel back in the day.

Kmart needs better CEOs to make the franchise better.
She reminds me of Marcy off of Married with Children.

So, 1999 was when internet was starting to get big enough for stores to develop websites. Big game changer wasn’t it.

Kmart can still survive. Theyll have to close lots of uderperforming stores..but they can survive as a scaled down company
How small, because eventually it'll be too small!
They already have
If Kmart has any chance of surviving, then TransformCo needs to sell it first! As long as they stay under TransformCo, they are doomed!
Down to 3 stores now.
Yes go to the store to shop online......fail!!
