SORRY GAMESPOT! Didn't mean to single you out. I just needed a video of someone pronouncing SNES *that* way. Thanks for watching, everyone! Next on the agenda will be the PS2! FINALLY.
You know, a good follow up to this series (once you’ve run out of consoles to play the launch games off) would be playing the last 10 games officially released on each console.
@@BrokenBeats94 that’s a lot of “Sports Time!” From Ben. Hmm 🤔 maybe the list could be “last 10 games from [insert console here] that weren’t sports titles” 😄
@@CulturePhilter haha 100% it’s a great idea as consoles have some great swab songs! Couple that come to mind are God of War 2 and Rogue Galaxy (outside of Japan) on the PS2
Always makes me chuckle to hear people of a certain age talk about the NES and SNES. I don’t think Ben was even alive when the SNES came out. But I was, and was 12 when it did. It’s hard to explain just how crazily epic this system was when appeared. I can remember back in the pre-internet days of 1991 when you just had 3-4 gaming magazines for info, or word of mouth, even as someone like me who was HUGE into gaming, I never even heard about the SNES until it was already out. I showed up that year at my parents’ friend’s summer cottage (who had more money than we did) and their two sons had brought the new SNES there and were playing Super Mario World. Blew…my…mind! Having growing up with an Atari 2600 and (very late in the game) a NES, it looked like they had control of a cartoon. Right then and there I became absolutely determined to get a SNES as soon as I possibly could. Just being a kid, I had no job, but I collected pop cans around my small town for their 10¢ deposits in Michigan, saved every small bit of my allowances, sold some of my toys at garage sales, and just asked for money from my relatives when my birthday or Christmas rolled around. I got my SNES fairly early in its run that year it came out, and it became the greatest era of video games I ever was a part of. I can remember spending Friday or Saturday nights at my friend Ian’s house, or vice-a-versa at my place, and the two of us would bring our games to the other’s house, rent a few more games, and we’d play games into the night until after midnight. As some new systems came out, I sold some of my others consoles, but I still have that original SNES to this day, in its original box with paperwork and plastic bags, and 5 of my original games, also still with their boxes, papers, and plastic bags, all in perfect condition. I loved that system THAT much, and still do. It’s funny to me how older consoles and games are worth so much money now, but I’d never sell mine. In fact, once or twice a year I still pull it out, hook it up, and play those games. I only wish I had some of the other games I used to have for it back, along with some of the extras like Mario Paint mouse and mousepad, and the Super Scope 6.
I had (and _still_ have since I never got rid of any of my childhood gaming stuffs) Super Tennis and even at 10 years old I never had a problem of knowing when to swing my racket; it was just something you learned the feel for. 🤷♀️ I have a lot of fond memories of playing this one with my mom.😊
I'm genuinely surprised by how well the graphics of PilotWings holds up. It's a shame there were so few SNES games that took advantage of the mode7 "3D" capabilities. I think that style could still have a place in gaming today, but you know with improved framerate and resolution. Would love to see something new in that style appear again.
Still the greatest console of all time. Most games aged perfectly, and still look damn good. Link to the past, Super Mario World/Kart, Super Metroid, Ken Griffey presents major league baseball, Chrono Trigger, DK Country 1-3, Secret of Mana, Mega Man X, FF3, Mario RPG, Rock n Roll Racing, Contra 3, NBA Jam, TMNT Turtles in time, MK 3, Street Fighter 2, Killer Instinct, Earthbound, Madden series, Pilotwings, F-Zero, Zombies ate my neighbors, etc... I can keep going but you get my point. GOAT console with GOAT games!!
@@Gatorade69 It's not that weird, there are plenty of people out there that feel the same way. A good case can be made for both games. Also, it's funny to think about how this game was rushed, compared to modern games that are rushed. These days, after a game has gone through multiple patches, it's sometimes practically a different game than the (often broken) one that was originally released.
I was going to say that I doubt Ben is *actually* playing these games, but then he named his Sim City "Triple69" and I knew right then and there that this was our boy.
this was great- thanks Triple Jump, extra points for the Bob Katter clip, he's a fun character. Super Tennis is good when you get the hang of it, for the best tennis game look for Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast!
I flipped christams morning 92' i was flipping and doing back flips when i got a super Nintendo. Man my step dad was a gold man, only 2 years with him then. Good man
Cant believe its 30 years since the Snes came out. I still own my SNES i bought in 1991 with all launch titles which i still play today .gaming since 1983 i have to say the SNES is the greatest console ever made
Would be great to see at the end of each of these videos where the average score for the launch games ranks against the other consoles you've done so far. Anyway, love this series!
These vids are probably my favorite series of yours lately. Gonna be sad when you run out of consoles. Maybe next you do can the games that came out the year a console was discontinued. You know, milk it dry.
Loved my Super Famicom import. RGB scart wired, ready to go. Then when i plugged it in my tv although RGB scart enabled was just old enough to only display it in black and white as it is an NTSC RGB signal 🤦 so i had to go out and buy a new 21" tv to play. Final fight was the game i had with it initially.
I was a Sega kid because my pops liked Sega for the sports titles but all my friends had a SNES. I'd want to go play theirs and they'd want to come play my Sega. In the end it worked out for all of us, lol.
Please make another video series about playing the last few games of the consoles before they were discontinued. There would be lots of sports time and even some radical cool bird man for the Nintendo 64.
It’s probably fair to mention that the SNES came bundled with Super Mario World in North America at no extra charge. So it’s sales numbers are a little bit inflated.
Oh yeah! Here we go! Launch game video time! Since Dick Mycinko is currently streaming as I write this, I am watching this as soon as the stream ends. UPDATE: This was so flipping awesome! I loved this video! :)

PS2! Don't forget the fun Easter egg in the credits of Summoner. It's hilarious!
I remember Joe Hendry used to say it that way all the time. But to be fair, Gamespot can't suplex you so...fair decision.
The Bouncer was a launch title right?
It was very common for UK people in general.
"Say the line, TripleJump!"
"Oh yeah, here we go, Sports Time!"
"Yaaaaaaay!"
I said that out loud when I clicked on the video lol
You can hear that sports time line at 6:39 its so hilarious XD

judging by the fact i never saw mario going that fast i don't think they even knew how to sprint in the first place
this guy plays mario like he's never played a mario game before

Anything "being done at night" to "avoid organized crime" doesn't quite pass the smell test.
Yeah that didn't make sense to me to either lol Maybe so it was in secret and unexpected? Or maybe it isn't true at all..
Super R-type, F-zero, Pilot Wings, Super Mario world. What a launch Super Nintendo had, I remember it like yesterday.
The own goal sound of "oh no" in Super Soccer was and still is constantly used with my friends and I whenever anyone makes the tiniest of mistakes.
I loved this list. I grew up with the SNES and this was one hell of a nostalgia trip.
“I am spending any time on it” I had no idea that is what that was from and I say it all the time thanks to Ben and TP
I love that Ben just waited for that joke. He's just the best.
