Great Review - many thanks. For an BEV, I think I'd much prefer an e-Golf - I know they're no longer available! This e-tron GT/Taycan is just so expensive, and is bought by rich people as a second car, or for a business tax-break. And of course a Tesla has a far superior charging infrastructure if you want to go on a proper BEV road trip... Best wishes to you Thomas.
@@sgtc4538 +1.. Points are well taken. .. Tesla's model offerings have expanded nicely down market and then there is the Nissan Leaf model range which is evolving,, getting better and better. . The Leaf is a "here now" urban electric. ..

Went to the UK configurator and you pay +2850 GBP to switch from leatherette to sports bag material. As always, eco-premium materials are scams.
It looks something straight out of a cheap Jetta, the seat material that is. The "alcantara" or whatever that cloth is on the steering wheel will look horrible after some time.

Well done, this is one of the best in-depth car review channels around. Going into the details is the best method, calm and collected speech is also pleasant (unlike those silly channels where the voice-over or the reviewer shouts 99% of the time and annoys us...).

Transparency note : Since the manufacturers provided the car , we have to say its good , even if doesnt have the milage of a Tesla ... it doesnt have autopilot ... its extremely slow ... looks like a normal audi a4 with some sharper edges ... the interior its the same as any other german car from the last 20 years ... the sliding central nob its rediculous ... it costs 60k more than a Tesla thats better in every way ... and the same of a Tesla that compared to this its not even in the same world ...
Its an a4 , with a forklift engine basicaly ... and its going to be the slowest electric car on the market
This review its totaly biased , and nobody are going to buy that car ...

great review! would you say the rear seats are large enough and sufficient for a several hour long trip? or are they too small to be comfortable for anything but a short trip (30 mins or less)?

Hi Thomas! Very cool review of another cool car, like always! The front grill, yes, better in dark color😉 ! The dashboard has a cool composition, very artistic and modern, but the steering wheel is not matching with it!

Excellent review Thomas. Can you recall if you sit as low in the GT as in the Taycan? Typically Audi have a higher sitting position which feels like you sitting on the car rather than in it. Porsche counterparts have lower driving positions e.g. 911 and Cayman vs R8 and TT. Thx
Its not even that the real buttons for climate change are more functional, I think they just look nicer than another screen. It also just feels better to press something thats nice and clicky 😂

Great comprehensive review. I tested one of these in Portugal but it was too big for comfort in my garage. So I stick with the 911 GTS, same color as the Audi. Maybe I should get a bigger garage.

An Audi with an animal-free interior? I am shocked, shocked. I never thought I'd see the day.
Perhaps they can do similar with their other models.
Maybe before shipping they give the car to a 3rd party contractor company which removes all the leather and puts on some recycled fabrics. 🙈
When I purchased my RS5 SB, I saw an E-Tron in Black, with a $164,000.00 U.S. price tag. I enjoyed your review since I really didn’t know much about the vehicle, other than at the price, I wasn’t buying one. Also honestly, I’m not a fan of EV’s, primarily because the technology is changing so rapidly, I think it’s way to soon to make a purchase.
I have been watch a few reviewers here in the US for the last couple of years and I happy your channel popped up on my TH-cam list today as you are right up there with the best US reviewers and I’m more into European cars than US personally.

You should be able to set the * on the steering wheel to drive select, that's how I have it on my 2016 S3
Like the idea of the button for AC control but they should’ve taken some more premium parts... those are straight from the A3.
Interesting logic on the gear selector; move it forward to reverse and backwards to go forward.
Thomas, is it true these EVs consume tires faster ... meantime tires are difficult to recycle?

1. No, if environmental tax where i live now would allow me a RS7 id go for that. Interior of GT RS is better though imo.
2. having sat in both today (driven the taycan but not the GT yet) the audi feels more special to me personally. Also it looks better.
Im in the market for one of these right now, taycan 4S and GT RS are basically the same price in my configurations. After looking at both in person today ill def. go for the Audi, IF i get an electric car. Still looking at some hybrids and drooling over some regular combustion performance cars, which i dont want to afford.
Please someone tell me what shoes Thomas is wearing?

Great review as usual! I wonder if there is any fine print in the warranty with respect to Battery Life if you charge the car when it is outside of the recommended 20-80 percent range? If you should not charge the car above 80% then what is the real effective range of the vehicle (compared with identical driving behaviours if it were charged to 100%)? Marketing the car as having a range of 400km fully charged and then recommending the battery never be charged beyond 80% is misleading to say the least...
Wondefull Vidéo! That 's done! I baught an E-tron GT Quattro grey fleuret in December 2021 and I am very impatient and exciting to drive it! But I have to wait for it until January 2023! It is a very long time before the delivery, but all pleasure is waiting!

Just a thought on the steering wheel. Would a standard fabric cleaner be sufficient to clean it? I can just see after time that this would get very dirty with peoples hands and stuff being transferred onto the wheel. At least leather is easy to clean and make hygienic.
That stuff is crap. I've had it in more than one car. It wears out quickly and doesn't maintain it's texture long. Go leather while you can.
There are good Alcantara cleaning guides. As an alternative, you can also use high grade leatherette as Tesla does in Model 3 or Y for example

Thank you Thomas, this car specially the RS has great performance , looks great, nice interior, everything premium, animal free options, somewhat acceptable range. People whi are complaining about range ( you should geta. Diesel audi it can do 1000 km in a refuel not a electric space ship )

The headlights exterior lines/shape could have been designed to be much more distinctive.. the rest of the e-tron GT exterior design is amazing!

I agree with you on the choice of sounds. That’s the only thing that Tesla do well in my opinion, the infotainment seems pretty limitless with little fun gimmicks and settings.
It would be nice to have some speed timings 👍
@Thomas: I will for sure vote for a custom V8 sound (not only in an Audi), good that you mentioned it. Why not? Point is that it can be switched off, when you buy an AMG for example, it will sounds all the time that nasty, but sometime one is not in the mood for that kind of noise. Automakers looking for all kind of things to sell to the customer, this is an opportunity to sell all variations of sound (like apps on a smartphone), big market in my opinion ...
The dash is an improvement over the two-screen dash of the A8, A6, and the other current Audis. I'm not sure about the suede like surfaces but the other materials look good. When the car comes to slow down to stop, it almost sounds like a subway or metro train with recirculating brakes. Car is great for those of means and may show some future design directions for Audi.
Is the ui based on android automotive yet? ( I remember a few years ago they, along side volvo, showed beta versions)
Would love proper Google maps(live traffic)/waze integration.

@@MrUser999999 no they will not and likely never will. From a strategic point of view it is definitely the right thing to do. It is about power, if they would do that, they would loose a lot of independence to Google and would make them dependent on them.....
Volvo and Polestar do it because they are not big enough to employ software developers in house.

A base RWD model makes more sense. Porsche offers more customization with the Taycan which means that they can squeeze more money out of people's vaults and pockets. Audi making an Avant model would not only be redundant compared to the Taycan. It would be a threat to the Audi RS6 Avant.

@@autogefuehl Yes, in the meantime I have heard many other youtubers now using "animal skin" in place of leather. Sadly, my own car could only be purchased in DE with leather. Cloth was not even an option.
