This Audi e-tron GT is low-slung, sleek and well proportioned as a proper Grand Tourer.
IMO it's probably the best looking EV ATM.
Great to see that they've retained buttons for essential functions and not succumbed to pushing everything onto the touch screens like most other manufacturers. Which is a sneaky cost cutting maneuver disguised as being futuristic and modern.
100% agree with you. I've had my eyes on the Taycan, but was really put off by the touchscreens for basic controls. That alone is enough to swing me towards the E-Tron.
Audi over taycan because the interior isn’t all touch screen.
What's missing in the Tesla is the luxury experience that one does, indeed, get in the Porsche and the Audi. The Tesla is futuristic, but it's also cold and clinical. There are die-hard Tesla fans who claim that it's interior design is Scandinavian, but if you go to any of the Scandinavian countries, the décor isn't anything like the spartan interior of the Tesla.

Both cars look beautifully elegant...
The Model S looks like a big hatchback (which it is, obvs...)
They both have beautiful and beautifully made interiors...
The Model S, as futuristic and minimal as it's design is, simply isn't built to the same rigorous quality control standards such legacy car manufacturers like Porsche and Audi are renowned for, nor with the insistence on materials quality.
But, credit where credit is due, Tesla has absolutely transformed the motor industry, both in terms of technology and in terms of the purchase experience - and for that it should be applauded.
The next few years should prove to be epically exciting times for EV uptake with models to suit every budget and I, for one, am looking forward with anticipation.
It's the Plaid for me.
After having seen the capabilities of the new Plaid, the old Model S feels like a dinosaur to me. The 0-60 time however is on a prepped track with rollout, so don't be expecting to hit 1.99 seconds on a normal road.
Yes, for that Tesla is not overpriced, Audi IS overpriced like Porsche etc for the performance
The plaid is a no brainer! Yeah the Audi looks great for the old ice car generation. I just don't understand why you would buy an EV that has very inferior tech, no charging infrastructure, and will NEVER drive autonomously
@@roman-ze2fg the Plaid is the more expensive in the UK. The Tesla Model S Plaid is £125k, Audi E-Tron GT RS starts at £115k, the Porsche Taycan 4 S £90K. Even the Taycan Turbo is only £500-£600 more than the Plaid.

have an e tron gt and chose it over the tesla that i test drove for a week....it was a no brainer. Not only when driving the Audi does it feel noticeably different when driving, but it also has such a unique look that you just do not see other e trons on the road. I have seen only 3 of them over 6 months and saw 4 Model S Teslas the same amount over a trip to the Safeway. ...my only gripe is some of the technology. Also have an audI A7, RS trim....and it is not on the same level with technology as the A7 and has fewer automatic functions as the A7. Both are great cars, but I chose the E tron for the looks and feel like it is far and away better looking compared to the porsche or audi......SPECIAL CAR !!!

Audi e-Tron was touted as a challenger to the Tesla Model X. But the e-Tron has far less range than the Model X, and depending on trim levels, the e-tron can end up costing more than the Tesla. It's tough to argue against the Model X, even though the exotic SUV is getting on in years, and has some flaws
Not really far less range. The Tesla has a 100kwh battery and in real world conditions will do 230 to 280 miles depending on temperature and speed.
Great review and I absolutely agree (I did love the interior when I was extremely lucky to drive the same Vorsprung edition yesterday). It’s a truly stunning machine. Test drove an e-tron 50 SUV a couple of months ago, great tech but felt compromised for my needs. Currently driving a B9 S4, but this (other than the lack of an exhaust note) stands head and shoulders above some ICE Audis (my S4 included). Too pricey for me at the minute but as soon as I can make the numbers work, this is the direction I’ll be heading. Keep up the great work!
I’d look at the BMW i4 50 - similar range, quality should be there too, and for £30k less and worth it if you can drop the blue accents

I find it hard to believe that anyone would find the i4 more beautiful than the etron gt. To me the i4 looks so tall and narrow and don’t get me started on that grill!

I've just turned in my 2018 Audi RS3 for the e-tron GT standard, not RS...Why? In three years of RS3 ownership, I never did a 0-60 flat-out acceleration. Kind of teenager-like activity....On highway etc. it was mega. For the significant price increase for the RS e-tron GT, the number of situations where it would be advantageous in the real world are almost nil. Tesla? No thanks... Too common, poor quality. Range only important if big highway mileage. BTW my wife has a Mini SE....exclusively urban usage, home Stage 2 charger....Perfect for city, excellent package for her
hello sir! i also have a 2018 RS3 and am looking to trade it in for a GT. How do you like it? I did test drive a GT last week and i felt that low down it had more power than my RS3, but as we got faster, at highway speeds, i didn't feel like it had the same kick. Now, my RS3 is tuned with unitronic, stage1+, so it's a bit of a little monster. it doesn't bother me and is not enough to deter me from getting it. How do you find the speed compared to your RS3?

@@birdinh0 Well, a tale of woe...In November, was in Toronto....wouldn't charge, had to fly home and car was brought to dealer by flatbed....no explanation....Early January, heater quit....ON Backorder for 5 weeks....getting pretty cold, can only drive if weather is good. I'm about to hand it back to the dealer....not their fault, but VERY disappointed in Audi. Looks like going back to ICE. BTW, still very happy with Mini SE for my wife, just no good for long journeys
@@mlhawk thanks for responding. Sorry to hear the Audi hasn’t worked out. My worries with it is that I saw a post on LinkedIn about the heater failure and a LOT of people then commented to say they had the same issue. I may wait a little longer to make the change

I have a model S. love the way the rear looks but they need to change the front. The new S coming out exterior is almost identical to current one....Crazy...I was hoping they would change it to resemble the new roadster. I wish the tesla was a bit more luxurious. Additionally the insulation and sealing of the tesla isnt great. large amounts of road and wind noise and the ride is a bit rough. the audi is very nice.
A 2022 Audi e-tron can be found with super low miles for under $60k today. I don’t know if that makes it’s a great value or a harbinger of doom for cost of ownership.

The biggest oddity for me is why on earth did Audi add a clunky gear shifting transmission to the rear motor? 😵💫
The gear shift actually makes a lot of fun. The Audi is about driving and emotions and I really like the gear shift. You need to accelerate really hard to feel it, otherwise it will never shift at all and drive always in high gear.
Which one is better if price is not a factor- Audi e-tron or BMW i4 or BMW ix or BMW ix3?
Audi e-tron GT looks to be of better value than the equivalent Taycan 4S with all the options

I have this car and also a 1977 austin allegro, in all but looks the allegro is the better car, only use this to avoid paying the ulez charge.
Compare this to an Audi R8 and for the price tag of circa £100k it just lacks the wow factor look

@@TriviaChallenge i can do 600 miles in one day for work, and chargers are still sorcery in some rural areas i drive through. It depends a lot on your job/area.

I absolutely love my new 2022 Audi Etron GT. I also have the Tesla 2022 Model S Performance. I also drove the Porsche Taycan that was very similarly equipped to my Audi. Here is my conclusion. If you want an exciting sports car that is electric and feels like you for the most part are driving a car the Audi wins hands down. I have not been this excited about a design since the original Karma Fisker. If you need a touring road car that is electric, the Tesla wins hands down because of range and slightly more comfort. In a nutshell, the Tesla feels like you are driving a computer. The Audi feels like you are driving a regular car. This is my third Audi and is the first one with enough throttle and power to make me happy. I had a Q8 and an A8 both of which to me were underpowered for the money I paid. Test drive it if you can find it and enjoy. I love mine. Great review by the way.
Don't compare vehicles if you are not going to use the current Tesla Model S!

Lots of attention to detail in the Audi, except choosing the name. Clearly no one at Audi speaks French….
New Model S LR for me. Same tech as the Plaid, but with more range, plus the Plaid is SO much more expensive for speed you’ll almost never use. Supercharging network is the easy tiebreaker if you can’t decide Tesla v Audi. If interior quality and a conventional style is for you, definitely the Audi.

Tesla are lying, their Plaid 0-60 acceleration does not include the first foot of acceration. Included it's over 2 seconds. Still fast but NOT 1.9
Who gives a crap if it’s 2 or 3 seconds, aesthetically speaking Tesla is 1995.
Dragtimes tested plaid at the event with V box 2,76 s, Tesla always laying on the spec, 1ft rollout is stupid and fake
They're not lying. They mentioned rollout in the website. But it's a misleading marketing nevertheless.
Shorter range than model S and no superchargers, not a good cocktail for long trips. Especially if you want to go all over Europe since the Ionity network is quite sparse in some countries.
Same, same, things haven’t changed lol. The yanks still build cars that go fast in a straight line but, they don’t handle as well, hard to stop them, the Germans build fast, well handling, great on a race track etc, now with Electric cars, funny how things don’t change.
Think the Porsche may be the better option.

Tesla is not a premium brand, Audi and Porsche are. Tesla S is 10 years old and looks old, , is not a good car, bad quality and ugly interior and exterior
The interior of the porsche and audi are significantly ahead of the tesla. the build quality is far superior than tesla also. not to mention handling. the e-tron gt kills the model s when it comes to handling. it absolutely feels like a sports car.

Nah, its not. It is still easily 100 miles more than any other electric cars. If range is what you need, Tesla has no competition.
And if my German friends had not slept through the change of times and started earlier with seriously developing electric, we would not have that difference today.
Unless I'm looking at an old map, the Tesla Supercharger network doesn't have significant coverage in or around Northern towns and cities so the Tesla network isn't a factor for many, so, not something that is necessarily a factor when choosing....

Tesla model s is for me a much more simple great spec and better driving experience. I’ve got the eTron GT, and had the model S and will be going straight back to the model S. The eTron has bits that fall off almost become unglued on interior. The charge is not great and Tesla is far better performance with smaller battery. Charging is a nightmare and if your travelling around you are stuck, very slow. Speed is not as good and I found Tesla handling amazing, beating every car on corners. Space for my kids it has to be the model S, I’ll have the eTron for 2 years and then it’s going back. If you want the best car it Tesla model S! 🎉
