    The hybrid regen is as per real life.
    The driver has no real control over it other than being able to tweak the delivery severity pre stage. The regen is only done at 100% braking power and as soon as itje battery reaches 100% it's deployed at once. As soon as you lift off the throttle the battery resets to zero and you start charging again regardless of how much you use.
    It's been a real education for the drivers this last few years when it comes to getting the heat out of the system.

    • @dereklatshaw3017

I havent noticed that it has separate regen and boost modes, it always regens on brake and as long as youre not out it also always boosts on acceleration. Right now it seems to not really work, if you brake even a little mid corner you instantly lose boost which seems weird to me

    This is a much, much better way to release games. Back in the '90s you saw loads of games before they came out because they were usually available in Japan or the US way before we got them. All it did was build more excitement about when you could play them. It also shows that the devs are confidant and excited about their product. The modern obsession with secrecy just leads anyone savvy to hold off until they've heard about any bugs or issues that so many games release with and maybe wait for a sale when it might finally be finished and patched up (EAFC I'm looking at you...)

      @@Jcushing5 My final video will be one with max degradation.
      There is indeed growing controversy but that's mainly because people oversimplify things way too much. It's on a central pivoting point and nothing else for most of them. There is far more to it than just that and there are reasons why the the central pivot point element is one of the aspects used to design the physics. If I can keep my discussion section of the video short enough so the whole video (including gameplay) stays under 15 minutes then I'll include it. That's the limited length of each preview build videos we need to keep ourselves to in most cases. Very long stages or streams are different of course. it will utilize once you rbring your throttle open past a certain point (its what the bar on the outside left of the tack is represetning. How far the pedal has to push to activate ((the lightning bolt))) once on. it will not STOP unless you completely lift off throttle (which maybe wrong) or hit the brakes. Once either of those has been detected you loose the remaining boost.

    Hybrid is working as in real life. In order to activate the boost, you need to regen certain amount of energy (controled by 1 regen engine map chosen at service). Then, when you accelerate, the boost aplies automatically (based on 1 boost map chosen at service).
    And, depending on the stage, the amount of energy available in those boost depends on the length of the stage. Shorter stages mean more energy available.

    Well, now I am properly excited for this game. As for the hybrid, that is how the system works in real life. Once you hit full regen, it deploys, you can lift or go lighter throttle then, but any tap of the brake resets the system to zero. In a lot of cases you may not want to stay on throttle as long exiting a corner if there is say, a slight kink you can coast through lifting early vs tapping the brake to get through it. That way you'll hve the hybrid exiting that kink as well if that makes sense.

    I have seen in other Videos that the car physics are kind of odd. The car doesn't turn with the front tires but around the center of the car. Which means, that the back tires always feel to be sliding and you can't turn in as well for shicanes. It has been a "problem" in Dirt Rally 2.0 and I hope they don't continue that. It has the upside of making the car feel more "agile" but the downside of it not being as realistic and it feeling strange or tarmac. You can get used to that, but I realized that that is one (of many) reason why I crash sometimes where I don't know what exactly I did wrong (because I expected the car to behave like a car).

    Im terrible at rally games, but I cant wait for it to come out. I feel the same way you did about sim racing and the idea of sims vs "games". I love racing but the likes of AC and Automobilista bore me quite easily now (I can only do so many time trials and random races) and I'm not dedicated enough to invest all my money and time in iRacing. I really hope this will reignite the passion. With all the cars, all the tracks and what looks like a great career mode, this just feels like a breath of fresh air.
    Also have to respect the developers. Seems EA gave Codies the resources they needed and just let them get on with it. If only this was the case for the F1 games.

    This is not how gravel roads look like - no camber, ruts, surfaces variability etc... It's pretty easy to make such long stage if you don't care about such things.
    The roadside is pretty detailed on the other hand.
    Probably good enough for the purposes of a game for casual players though.

      I have a feeling this is similar to DR 2.0, where the time trial mode enables the best stage quality, while the Career/Championship mode will have more progression with surface wear (the ruts and lesser grip you mention) as you finish in different splits.

      @@Teknas89 Obviously... I mean why would they have degradation in time trials where you're the only car?
      And by the way if this dumbo wants to call us "casual" players, he can go to his pixelated 20 year old game (we all know he's part of the snobby RBR hipster army) and leave us the fuck alone... I mean if it's realistic enough for the ERC and WRC champions (Jon Armstrong & Kalle Rovampera... Armstrong passionately defends this as a pure sim in driving physics) then it's good enough for me... I mean who gives a fuck about the snobby hipsters anyway...
      And these "fake roads" he talks about are actual REAL ROADS taken from satelites and are 100% real... yeah... the no camber fake roads he whines about... not as good as RBR fake roads, right? Real life must be a bitch...

      The one thing that really annoys me about rally games, even the best ones like RBR doesn't do ruts, and if there is any they are very spaced out. But I think it's partially done for gameplay reasons, if you hit a rut the wrong way in the wet at the speeds they drive at it will flip your car or get you stuck

Real cars are easy to drive. The only difficult part should be driving a stage faster than everyone else without crashing.

    Seems wrong with the hubrid. M-sport fords explenation last year...and I quote:
    "The length of time that hybrid boost is available does depend on how hard the driver presses the pedal, you know how much output they want form the car as a whole" And then he say if it is dry he can go full power and it will last for a shorter amount of time. The total energy per boost event is dictated by FIA, and changes depending on stage length.
    But If i remember another explanation, the teams have control how they use that energy specified in 3 hybrid maps set before the rally event and you can only switch map before the stage. On the stage you can pause deployement for 30s , nothing more, for say icy monaco wanting a more stable power deployment, corner to corner as you are grip limited, not power limited in those cases

      They don't *want* to get it right like that. Games WRC 2023 sell like hot cakes. They offer a good enough challenge and realism, whilst giving a frenetic and fun experience - and as you start getting the hang of it, it makes you feel like a good driver pretty quickly; it's good for the human ego, which of course will catch the attention of newcomers and will keep the seasoned players interested. It's designed to sell. But the likes of RBR are quite exasperating initially, and it takes longer to become good at them. The icing on the cake is that real physics, and therefore RBR's NGP physics as well, aren't frenetic unless you are skilled. All this makes casual players to lose interest quickly.
      But it's said that the physics of racing games are getting more and more realistic. Hopefully this keeps going in that direction. Games like this WRC 2023 can definitely carry more people into the simulation world, and all that people may get increasingly hungrier for more realism. I want this official game to become a full-blown simulator, specially because that will carry more people into the real thing - I mean, I liked the real WRC after I knew about Colin McRae Rally 2.0, and I started loving the WRC due to simulators!

    To be honest, I don't understand how people come to determine that RBR is the superior simulator, or that the physics are better, more realistic, whatever? Like that is an objective thing? To be honest I played both dirt, dirt 2.0 and RBR quite a bit and I have no idea how I would make up my mind on what is more realistic or in what aspect. Especially when it comes to the handling. I have never driven a WRC car you know? It seems to be so much of a preference or expectations thing. I really don't understand what it would even mean to not be "on par" with RBR.

    • @g.s.8108
      @g.s.8108 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some WRC2 and WRC drivers have said so. Kalle Rovanpera used to play RBR and used it to help get back into rally driving when training. Lots of reviewers including Jimmy have said DR2 and this game physics are more forgiving. The front end has more grip than IRL and as such it's easier to get the car to rotate and brakes are stronger. Even Kalles "impression" video of this game says he wishes his real car was this forgiving or something.
      Now that doesn't mean this game will be bad. Its just that it's not full sim at all cost as Jimmy states.
      RBR is awesome with certain stage and car combos but its also many cars and stages are meh as well. I think the biggest difference for me driving RBR vs DR2 is that in DR2 you can drive with more recklessness and be able to save the car. In RBR, you have to drive with more attention to braking points and be more nuanced with the braking. That's also because stages in DR2 were generally shorter and wider too. This looks awesome though.

    • @HiroKone
      @HiroKone ปีที่แล้ว

      @@g.s.8108 Yeah, I think I actually agree with you on that. It does feel like the cars are gripping up too early in the corners. Or perhaps that means they are underdriving the car? But I think that is what I mean. Like motorsport and sim racing fans come in with a certain expectation of how a car should behave because we already have a certain eye or feel for that. And when a car does not behave like that it's bad. But I am kind of skeptical when using this to judge the physics or handling of a game or simulator or creating some pecking order. Like looking at this, I actually like some things I see in the handling more than in RBR. RBR can be a little too slidey in my opinion. Also the stages and surface and the way the car interacts with details in the surface seems better here. Also in Dirt I feel like the road has a bit more of a presence. In RBR you are kind of sliding on top. But I would still agree that the movement of the car in RBR in general looks a bit more like the genuine thing.

    • @g.s.8108
      @g.s.8108 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HiroKone true. Us sim gamers have some impression of how a race car should drive and its probably wrong. Also theres this notion, harder = realism which is true to a point only. Few if any of us really know what a Rally 1 car drives like or even what a prepped rally car with rally tires drive like. Some people feel like anything not tarmac should feel like driving on mud and ice, which is not the case. Depending on the type of gravel and dirt and who much the road has been swept, may actually have a surprising amount of grip. I think RBR gets it closer than EA WRC though based on what reviewers and Kalle has said. He didnt give it a in depth review but that off the cuff remark about how the game is forgiving is telling.
      I wonder if codies programmed you to he disadvantaged in some way if you are the first on a gravel road and sweeping the course.

      @@nuztuz903 I watched Kalles video again and you are right, he said the game's WRC Yaris reacts like his real car. I was thinking more about his comment that he wishes he can be as brave IRL as he is in the game, which I interpreted initally as the game is more forgiving and has a greater margin for error. But it more likely refers to him driving a game and not IRL. At the same time, kalles video is essentially a paid advertisement so....
      Having said that DR2 physics certainly has OP front end grip, OP brakes. And the rear rotated too easily, with the slightest weight transfer to the front. IRL it takes more effort to unweight the rear. Not enough weight transfer and you understeer, too much and you overload the fronts and understeer. In DR2, you breath on the brakes and the car rotates and at the same time, the front end seemed to have endless grip and control under braking.
      Jimmy and some of the reviewers have made comments about the new game being a tad forgiving and too grippy as well. He also has said that if RBR has great gravel physics, this game has very good gravel physics which is awesome to hear. I am really excited to play it.

    I just wish they could still fix the physics issue in the game. The physics seem to compute everything around the center of gravity, including the rotation on tarmac. It should compute forces according to the center of gravity but then it should consider the direction of the tires and contact patches instead of rotating the car around the center of gravity on tarmac (which makes the rear wheels slide around the center of gravity even on small speeds).
