  • Rep Fitness Iron Plates review. I purchased my Rep Fitness cast iron plates directly from Rep. Rep iron plates are an inexpensive option if you are looking for iron plates for a home gym. But you are making a trade off on quality if you are willing to spend less. I'm not saying these are bad iron plates. They are good plates, but the finish and weight are inconsistent. Rep says these plates have a 3% tolerance. Mostly that is true, especially in all of the plates except for the 45 pound iron plates. Anything under 43.6 and over 46.3 would be outside Rep Fitness's 3% claim. The 45 pound plates range from 43 to 46 pounds. I have one plate that is over the 3% and two plates that are under the 3% tolerance. I have one that is almost 47 pounds. This makes a big difference if you load three plates on one side that are 46 pounds and three on the other side that are 43 pounds. I ended up writing the actual weight on each plate so I can load the bar as evenly as possible. I have plans to upgrade plates to a training bumper plate. I'll likely keep these Rep iron plates as well just to have have extra weights I can bang around and not worry about messing them up. As far as the price of weight plates go, these are cheap iron plates. I think the Rep Iron Plates are a good option for someone who isn't concerned too much with the exact weight of the plates and don't mind the inconsistent finish.

    Thanks for taking the time to post this. My buddy bought some and is expecting the shipment in a few weeks. I wouldn’t have thought plates could vary in weight that much!

      You're welcome. Rep plates leave a lot to be desired. And I didn't know until after I made this video, several people, including myself, have left 3 star reviews or less on Rep's site and they don't post them. I tried leaving two seperate 3 star reviews on these plates and neither were posted. I started looking around there site and low and behold, not one single 3 star or below review can be found. That's shady.

    Your 25lbs plates are from their "old school" version of iron plates. Looks like you got a bad batch but from what I've heard they have some exceptional customer service so I'm sure you can find a settlement for the flaws.

    Sorry to hear about the weight differences. I bought the Rep Rubber Coated plates and mine are much closer to the expected weight. I’d really like to try the Rep Equalizer plates too at some point. 2% tolerance and frankly I think they look cool.

    Purchased a bunch of rep fitness stuff on April 2nd and received june 9th. With the purchase i had 5 pairs of 45 1 pair pf 25 2 pairs of 10 and 2 pairs of 5 and a pair of 2.5. I found it weird that the plates had a comma as well instead of a decimal. My 25s were marked on both sides but my 10s are only marked on 1 side so thats strange that we had different plates. The 3 percent tolerance allows for a 1.35 lb +/- so plates can weigh between 43.65 and 46.35 and fall in line with their claims. I dont find the weight difference to effect my lifts either and my lifts are 315 for bench 515 for dl and 375 for squat so i would consider myself an above average lifter. All in all im happy with my plates and i got what i paid for but in the future i would like to upgrade as well. Thanks for your review

    I ordered a few pairs of 25’s on 7/19/20 and received them on 8/7/20. They look exactly like the 45’s do unlike the 25’s you have that look like they’re from a different manufacturer. They are very accurate, all four are 25 pounds even.

    Thanks for this review. I have a bunch of different weight plates due to the COVID market. And it bothers my OCD... i will eventually upgrade so it all matches. I considered some IRONS but I prefer the grips, but just appears that many manufacturers are just way too inconsistent. What is your most favorite plate as of right now?!?

      The Rogue machines plates or 6 shooter plates look awesome. I love the look of the Rogue Black Training LB plates (the ones with the colored lettering and stripes). I think I’ll keep these Rep as my iron plates and get the Rogue Training bumpers in the future.

      @caruso24 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@liftthebarbell2434 Yeah. just stinks that Rogue is a bit pricey but definitely like the six shooters... The Rep HEX plates are nice, but i have heard some horror stories about edges inside being sharp.. which would lead me to the urethane hex version but definitely more expensive. I have started looking at the REP Rubber V2s as well.. least expensive alternates i think....

    A lot (maybe all?) of the European countries you commas instead of decimals. So it could be because Euros also use Kgs or it could be because those were originally intended for overseas sales.

  • @faithfitnessandfatherhood
    @faithfitnessandfatherhood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Most definitely different on the 25s...they don't even match the style listed on the website. The 25s on the website show the same "cross" pattern that is on the 45s. I love REP and most of my setup has come from them. However, I have also had a few quality control issues, but being that they are imported, I'm willing to sacrifice some very small quality for the huge price difference.

    • @liftthebarbell2434

    I had these plates on my notifications when they came back on sale. Kinda glad I slept through my email notification now. Haha. I have been waiting for about 3 to 4 months for some rouge 6 shooter plates to come back in stock but they never did so I pulled the trigger on Titan cast iron plates when they came back in. We will see if I made the right decision later this month . . . If not guess I'll be re selling them

      @@powerbar8991 You cant look at deviation per plate. That's not how manufacturing works. When you analyze the sum of all the 45s, it is less than 1%. Practically, this method makes sense, as you're always going to be loading several plates at one time.
