The heaviest song ever made about hide n seek/tag... with an ogre of course! Keep up the Babymetal reactions, love it!
Good reaction - best metal song about playing hide & seek or tag there is - although they are playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre). And yes that is all there is to it, no metaphor for anything darker. The growling voice is the Oni asking things like "Are you ready yet" etc.
However you asked about the red shoes. This was kindly explained by a Japanese commentor called Flugelhorn Old Man in another reaction video about a week ago.
He said "The last part of the lyric means "Red shoes, you shouldn't wear. Because they are dangerous." It comes from an old Japanese song written in 1922 "A girl wearing red shoes" being based on a story told soon after the Meiji Restoration when Japan started to open to Western countries. The song is about a foreigner who took a little girl away to his homeland and the girl was allegedly wearing a pair of red shoes. So this song seemed to relate to some crime (maybe a kidnap) and the people at that time (more than 100 years ago) were cautious about foreigners as potentially dangerous existence like big red-haired ogres.
The true story, however, turned out to be different. There was a couple and the husband and wife were too poor to take care of their daughter suffering from tuberculosis which was incurable disease at that time in Japan. So the parents trusted the girl to a American missionary and asked him to foster her. The girl's disease was very bad and she died before going to the USA. The mother, however, believed that her daughter became healthy and was living in the country across the ocean."
The Kami Band here (in the order of solos) were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus (guitars), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums).

This was my very first BABYMETAL song, so it's very special to me. Also good video choice. This is way better than other compilation videos you can find out there. And it's good in order to follow the extra cute choreo here. We specially love the famous "Moa slide" movement (4:22 on your video).

So this cute song is about playing a game that is like hide-and-go-seek.
Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre.
While Megitsune is still my favorite, I think this is one of their their most fun choreographies.
If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example.
The recurring "Maada da yo." part that Yui and Moa sing means "Not ready yet."

You guys should check out ijime dame zettai live at sonissphere 2014 the year Babymetal became a international hit live at a festival with very heavy metal fans who have been known to throw bottles of piss at bands they hate one minute you can see how quickly the crowd changes and loves them.

I'm only gonna comment on the music from now on, cause I kinda made my point already about the vocals, although I kinda liked the dark voice in this song.

The Red Shoes refers to a legend about little girl who disappeared a long time ago in Japan who liked to wear red shoes. It really happened, but are not in agreement on how it happened. Anyhow, there are statues of this girl all over Japan and people donate money to some for Children’s finds.
I think the thing here is that Babymetal songs are highly crafted and mean a lot more than people would expect.
I don’t think the Red Shoes are really a dark reference but just something little girls might say when playing Hide and Seek with a demon.

In the studio recording, some of the sounds used are very sinister. The beginning with the echoing footsteps, the rising guitar sound to start what becomes the chase music of a horror movie. The echoing little girl voices that trail off as the chase continues. It may sound cute, but I think it's scary af. They're being chased by a demon! And the red shoes gives them away. In the end the demon yells "I found you!" This isn't just hide and seek. It's a horror movie chase scene. Listen to the studio version for effect. Live tho kills the whole horror vibe cause the girls ARE SO DAMN CUTE!!!🤣🤣🤣

Yui would ask them to skip the intro when they were recording this, because it was so scary.

I like the instrumental part. The guitars, but what I find a little less is that the girls sound so young in terms of voice
That is what i like the most. The contrast between cute and heaviness. The girls are so cute but at the same time the music is legit heavy. There is nowhere else you can find that. There are a million other Metal bands that are heavy.

The song is about hide n seek to trick a Japanese lore figure, the evil ogre ( similar to our oger, troll etc.. )
And Part of lyrics is, don't where red shoos then he'll catch you and it's very bad, so hid and seek be quick and hide.
