@@mindsofthefuture6488 - For their latest tour Babymetal had an American backup band doing their shows. They're great too. Babymetal puts on a show. People can hate them for whatever reason but nobody can deny they put on a show live. One of the best in the world.

This song basically is about overcoming your inner fears/demons/whatever is holding you back.
Some facts about them: BABYMETAL are around since 2010 when the three girls were 11 and 12 years old. They originally were part of the school-themed idol-project Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy) but parted from SG in 2013 to become an independent act. Back then the band mainly consisted of three girls: Suzuka Nakamoto (aka. SU-METAL, lead vocals) Yui Mizuno (aka. YUIMETAL, backing vocals and dance) and Moa Kikuchi (aka. MOAMETAL, backing vocals and dance) complemented by a bunch of stellar musicians called Kami-Band (Band of Gods) at their live performances.
They already have five albums out:
    "BABYMETAL", rel. 2014 (studio album)
"Live at Budokan - Red Night Apocalypse", rel. 2014 (live album)
"Metal Resistance", rel. 2016 (studio album)
"Live at Wembley", rel. 2016 (live album)
"Metal Galaxy", rel. 2019 (studio album)
BABYMETAL also has several live recorded shows out on DVD/Blu-Ray which is a good thing because, believe it or not, they are one of the best live bands out there (which earned them many best-live-act-awards). They also never get boring because of their diversity in music styles. Regardless they always manage to stay recognizable. Unfortunately, Mikio Fujioka (their lead guitarist) died from an accident in January 2018 and Yui Mizuno left BABYMETAL in fall 2018 because of health reasons. But despite all that, the band is going strong and achieved, as first Asian act ever, a number one notation at the billboard rock charts with their recently released album "Metal Galaxy".
If you want to see more of them, my recommendations for the start would be:
*"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html

I have heard this song countless times over the last three years, yet when the outro has faded out I still feel like it leaves a strange void that makes me want to yell „No, please don’t be over“. And Su‘s „hashire“ at the end still gives me goosebumps.
You are right, Metal elitists often criticize BABYMETAL for not being Trve Metal™. Yes, they have catchy choruses and they dance and smile, but you have heard it yourself, there‘s no denying that this is Metal. People need to get over their self-imposed supposed rules. You can still be cool while singing and dancing to a poppy chorus. It’s actually funny that they accuse BABYMETAL of being children‘s music, when what keeps them from enjoying it is their own childish small-mindedness. Grow up and you can have the time of your lives with this band.
It should be added that this is far from their most poppy song. I would even agree that a few of their songs are very light on the Metal side, but it doesn’t matter. It’s just good music. I have been a metalhead for over 30 years, and I enjoy the hell out of this band. The smiles and positivity are a welcome change to the stale Metal genre. But even if you don’t like it, just acknowledge the obvious talent and move on. If you can’t do that, come back when you have grown up.
You should watch a live show, their live performances are out of this world. The band and the crowds feed off each other, and the result is amazing. My recommendation would be a song called „Megitsune“: th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html

Usually. If you do it in a different order than most people do (typically "Gimme Chocolate" first), then yes, that is the typical progression. I have seen a lot of people doing it differently the past few weeks and they fly right past #1, possibly even #2. It's been awesome to see people changing it up for the watch order, and people suggesting different songs than the typical order we've seen a bunch of times.

My comment disappeared so I'll try to add it here.
Nice one. You were right, Rob Zombie posted a photo of himself with Babymetal and had some of his own fans badmouthing them - he responded telling one "These three girls had more energy than 90% of the bands we play with" and to another of his own fans "They roll harder than you." and another "They are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old f---?"
Karate is about fighting against adversity, when you've been knocked down and it all seems too hard helping each other to stand and fight on. The figures in white were revealed as the girls themselves when the masks shattered and they had been conjuring up their own inner demons they'd had to fight.
The lead singer is called Su and the whole idea for Babymetal was formed around her and her vocal talents (she sounds a lot better live than in the studio recordings where they always seem to over-process and compress her voice). The other two girls are Yui and Moa and they provide backing vocals and dance ... not just dance as you may know it, their choreo helps to interpret the lyrics but it is mainly about involving the audience in live shows, which is where Babymetal are at their best and where they are supported by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians.
Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 for undisclosed health reasons having not been on stage with them for 12 months before then. Since the start of the 2019 tour Su and Moa have been supported by three girls who rotate to take turns dancing (but not singing yet at least) in the third spot.
Every song they do is different, some are a lot heavier than Karate, some lean more towards the pop, but they play virtually every metal genre and mix in many other musical styles and genres, so depending on your own tastes maybe there will be some songs you don't like, others you'll love - but there is no telling until you hear them.
Here is one for you to try - and you'll see what I mean about them being better live. 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (Su's year of birth, this was actually December 2013 celebrating her 16th birthday) th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html

Just to clarify about the BABYMETAL members, Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) announced she was leaving the group for health reasons in October 2018, but had not been on stage with BABYMETAL for a year before that.
They announced at their first concert of 2019 at Yokohama Arena on June 28th, that a dancing support role would be rotating between three new "Avengers".
They are Riho Sayashi (former Morning Musume), Kano Fujihira (Sakura Gakuin), and Momoko Okazaki (a Sakura Gakuin graduate).
Original members Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) still form the core of the group.
I love the Karate Kid reference in the video when Moa catches the fly. : )
The video does a great job expressing the sense of the song, but if you're curious, here's a translation: du-metal.blogspot.com/2015/12/karate.html
One of their best music videos.
You might want to rewind, or rewatch at the point where Su hits the first of those two high notes.
See what is revealed when the masks break apart.
Then check out the reflections in their eyes.
It's a clue to the meaning of the song.

One of my favorites, DEVILOOF, shows up on reaction channels sometimes, and it's a coin toss whether the reactor is going to be positive or negative. So, I don't request them as much as I'd like. I feel like even if y'all don't like them though, you'd still be respectful of the musicianship.
Visual kei -- rhymes with play -- is a subculture in Japan where the two overarching themes are the importance of self-expression and an interdependence between a band and their fans. Vkei isn't confined to any particular genre of music, although unsurprisingly, the chord progressions that give jpop, jrock, and jmetal a distinct sound are usually in the music.
Vkei bands can have a concept or theme -- like a concept album, but the whole band and all their catalog -- or they might not. Whatever suits the artist.
So, it's a scene where the musicians do what they want visually and musically and where bands might be anywhere from pop to rock to nu-metal to thrash.
DEVILOOF's theme is brutality, and their genres are slam, metalcore, and deathcore. This song is called Goujinzangoku (go-jin-zan-go-ku), which loosely translates to Torture. The video was unofficially subtitled by a kind hobbyist. It is absolutely ... Well it's brutal. (Sometimes people ask, so I'll just say here that everyone in the band is a guy.) th-cam.com/video/2Ag2N8D7Mug/w-d-xo.html
I didn't intend to write an essay when I started this post. Thank you for reading it. :)
P.S. I made the request here after seeing how open you were to Babymetal, but I just want to clarify that I am not implying Babymetal is visual kei. Babymetal is its own awesome thing, although sometimes people call them kawaii (adorable) metal.
