That was a crowd of 22,000 people under the complete control of 3 girls barely over 5 feet tall and aged 17, 15 and 15. They won international awards for best live act two years running for very good reason (they have been nominated for over 30 awards for various things and won most of them). You didn't see the real band in the Karate video, they don't appear in the music videos unless they were filmed at live shows like this one. The Kami Band are the instrumentalists and support Babymetal in live shows. They first appeared in October 2012 and only played festivals and did the encores in some shows. Up until then Babymetal didn't have the budget for a live band and would sing to a backing track and in some shows they would have people dressed in skeleton costumes on stage miming the instruments, but there was no pretence, everybody knew what they were - they were known as Babybones. From early 2014 the Kami Band have been with Babymetal for all of their live shows. The Kami Band are all male, the hair and face paint confused you. I am very happy to say Babymetal have leapfrogged all my old favourite bands (metal, rock, prog and anything else) to become my all time favourite band, so give it time and a few more videos. Instead of the traditional metal horns, they use the "Fox sign" (or Kitsune, the Japanese word for Fox). It looks like the "too sweet" sign in wrestling, if that helps.
The Fox hole is a mythology thay have someone will explan it to you, but you sould do this one it is a standout moment in there career. *Ijime, Dame, Zettai* is a very inportent and standout moment for them and there fans, hear is why this the frist time they had played outsied of Japan it was not there first show they had played two small venues one in Germany and one in France to *BABYMETAL* fans, this was there third show but it was at the *Sonisphere Festival* in the U.K. now I dont think you will no of this festival it is a total metalheads festival and not a nice place to be if they do not like you thay will not only boo you they will throw bottles and things at you to get you off, but *BABYMETAL* were not trying to enoy eny of these metalheads they new about Sonisphere so they had booked them selfs on a small stage in a tent so that there U.K. fans could come and see them the die-hard metal fans would not even no they were there all was well, untill about one month before they were to play when they were told that were now going to be opening the main stage on Saturday morning that is the big day of this festival with bands like Slayer, Anthrax, Iron Maiden and Metallica just to mention some of the names that would be taking to that stage after them, it is not surprising that they were worried about this, when they got there from back stage they couldn't see the crowd at all and they were possibly more worried about what to do if there was nobody there to see them at all, they went out to a crowd of sixty thousand+ metalheads most of which had never heard about BABYMETAL before the place was full and it holeds just over sixty thousand, in an interview later YUI and MOA said that they were thinking "we are f**ked" SU said that when she sore the crowd she thought "this is going to be fun" and some people say that these girls are not METAL "HUMM". Did someone already mention they are one of the best live bands out there? Just saying... This, by the way, was the last song of their second world tour kick-off show in January 2015. The girls were age 17 (Suzuka Nakamoto, lead singer) and 15 (Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi, backing vocals and dance) back then. And don't get fooled by the long hair (well... except the bassist). The musicians are all male.

In Japanese Music, it's really common to have English phrases in lyrics, song titles, even names of bands. there are parts of this song entirely in English. And some phrases as well.

Queen Su has a couple other things in common with the mighty Macedonian conqueror. First, there is her self-avowed desire to conquer the world, albeit in her case through music. Then there is the story about a much earlier performance at Saitama Super Arena in 2008. Back then Su was the youngest member of a pop/idol trio called Keren Girl's. Having never played such a large venue before, the two older girls were naturally a bit nervous about it. Su on the other hand was so confident that she decided to take a nap before the show, and slept so soundly that someone had to go wake her. The first time I read this story it actually gave me a chill because there is an eerily similar story told about Alexander before the Battle of Gaugamela. It was then that I realized what is so special about Su-Metal. She possesses that intangible something that is the spark of greatness.

the english language is actually a big part of modern japanese popular culture. even for shows and brands that are intended only for japanese people, there's a lot of english. it's often written in katakana instead of letters, so you may not be able to read it. and occasionally the meanings of things get corrupted a bit, but that happens with different english language communities as well, with americans, brits, australians, etc. each using the language a little differently. remember that _super mario bros_ is japanese, and yet terms like "1up" are the same in japan as in the usa.

There´s some misunderstandings about Japan, like "they not use latin alphabet" Yes, they do, and a lot more than people think. Is true that japanese is writes in Kanji and kana, they own writing system but the use of latin alphabet are pretty popular. As an example, in great cities all the name os train and metro station is writed in latin, kanji and kana versiones. A lot of comercial centers and shops use latin alphabet in their posting signs. Not all of course but really a lot. Btw, in japanese "Babymetal" and "Heavy Metal" are write almost exactly the same way, only a small ' " ' in the first kana. Many Japanese bands and singers like to put albums or songs titles in English. (Not always, but a lot) But the song is sang in Japanese. If a song title is in English, they keep it in English when they release that song in Japan. This is very common. Many Japanese can read simple English. I been living in Japan for 14 years now. The backing band is all Male. They are the very best session players in Japan. Guitarists are Takayoshi Ohmura, LEDA Cygnus, Mikio Fujioka, BOH on bass, and Hideki Aoyama on drums. The reason for the "Fox" hole is because of the lore behind the band. Involving a Fox God who directs them on their journey through the Metal Galaxy. It's very tongue in cheek but, it's supposed to be. It's all in fun. Babymetal are about uplifting messages and songs of overcoming bullying and fear. If you mean autotune as in "simple effects added on the vocals for stylistic purpose" I don't see why it should be too bad And if you mean autotune as in "pitch correction to hide the fact that she can't sing properly" well this is just plain wrong
I have seen them live and there's no auto-tuning. They do however use backing vocals sometimes but Su sings live and has got nothing to prove anymore. There's no correction auto-tuning in this so I don't see where you get the sense that it's there - let alone it being "obvious" - ? Go watch some fan captured footage of her rehearsals before concerts or listen to more live songs from them before making uneducated guesses like this one. She probably sings better than most of the bands you're a fan of.

If you guys are willing to continue your journey to Japan, you guys are in for a hell of a ride. BabyMetal was the gateway for many of us here. Japan has some very talented musicians and a wild freedom that is refreshing and reminiscent of how rock in America used to be.
And down the foxhole you go . Just ignore the haters with "this is not metal rants" . BabyMetal are a breath of fresh air to metal who said metal has to be harsh and angry how about uplifting , happy and emotional.

Well, no, the only girls are the three main girls singing and dancing. All of the musicians are men.
When I think about it... Maybe they assumed that base on words like "BM is all female group" and not knowing/realized that members of Kami Band are not members of BM :)
Maybe someone already mentioned this, but the backing band are all males, with long hair. This iteration is called the Kami band, but they are session musicians and change out from time to time. The girls themselves are Babymetal. They are Japanese and sing mostly in Japanese with some English.

In Japanese Music, it's really common to have English phrases in lyrics, song titles, even names of bands. there are parts of this song entirely in English. And some phrases as well.

the english language is actually a big part of modern japanese popular culture. even for shows and brands that are intended only for japanese people, there's a lot of english. it's often written in katakana instead of letters, so you may not be able to read it. and occasionally the meanings of things get corrupted a bit, but that happens with different english language communities as well, with americans, brits, australians, etc. each using the language a little differently.
remember that _super mario bros_ is japanese, and yet terms like "1up" are the same in japan as in the usa.

Yes, they do, and a lot more than people think. Is true that japanese is writes in Kanji and kana, they own writing system but the use of latin alphabet are pretty popular. As an example, in great cities all the name os train and metro station is writed in latin, kanji and kana versiones. A lot of comercial centers and shops use latin alphabet in their posting signs. Not all of course but really a lot.
Btw, in japanese "Babymetal" and "Heavy Metal" are write almost exactly the same way, only a small ' " ' in the first kana.
And well, they are pretty popular in EEUU, they toured in the EEUU in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019...

the Japanese and Korean also use the English word rather than make up a word in their language like the French and Germans do. 1 example in Korea the word for ice cream is ice cream. I think it true for Japan. I believe it has to do with the American military troops in both countries.

Many Japanese bands and singers like to put albums or songs titles in English. (Not always, but a lot) But the song is sang in Japanese. If a song title is in English, they keep it in English when they release that song in Japan. This is very common. Many Japanese can read simple English. I been living in Japan for 14 years now.

The backing band is all Male. They are the very best session players in Japan. Guitarists are Takayoshi Ohmura, LEDA Cygnus, Mikio Fujioka, BOH on bass, and Hideki Aoyama on drums. The reason for the "Fox" hole is because of the lore behind the band. Involving a Fox God who directs them on their journey through the Metal Galaxy. It's very tongue in cheek but, it's supposed to be. It's all in fun. Babymetal are about uplifting messages and songs of overcoming bullying and fear. And some songs are just for fun, like Hide and seek and dancing and festivals. Enjoy the trip down the "Fox Hole".

I have seen them live and there's no auto-tuning. They do however use backing vocals sometimes but Su sings live and has got nothing to prove anymore. There's no correction auto-tuning in this so I don't see where you get the sense that it's there - let alone it being "obvious" - ? Go watch some fan captured footage of her rehearsals before concerts or listen to more live songs from them before making uneducated guesses like this one. She probably sings better than most of the bands you're a fan of.
