Find the carburetor air fuel mix screw. That will adjust your idle but rember exactly how many turns you make on the screw. It will let in more or less air/ fuel mixture depending on turning in or out. Cool moped.

I wonder how tricky it would be for you to get a Jawa Babetta over there in the states. It's a Czechoslovakian two stroke moped (very similar to the Puch) and has great tuning potential and lots of performance upgrades available. It was also built to cope with socialist city roads so it's very reliable and well put together! I have two, an '81 Babetta 207 and a '91 Babetta 210 both have been absolutely bulletproof even though I have not been very gentle with them. Definitely a quirky little bike you should look into!

i didnt see anybody mention this yet but if you change out the transmission fluid for 0-20 full synthetic you will have more consistent clutch slip from cold to hot. also i trim the clutch weights down and try to use lighter springs so that the clutch doesnt have so much force on it because it will warp the clutch assembly as someone already mentioned. lastly you need to put some arugula in your carb that is where the magic happens.

But, the tank had rust, I had tried to clean and ran 2 fuel filters but the carb would still get clogged. Clogged carbs are a problem with any small engine...I have 50cc gy6 engines that suffer the same thing, just from sitting more than a couple of weeks. Tiny jets means easy clogging.

not sure why video showed in my feed, but love it, wish i had that kind of power in my youth, I rode these in the early to mid 1980's, 1 of which i put 120K miles on. yes with a top end rebuild, still have a few things stored away, including a hard tail frame, several engines, 1 & 2 speed models, probably a couple Thomas mopeds too. i i stopped riding them around 1988, when i turned 21, had a Honda and a Harley motorcycle, and sold my mopeds, what I have is what didnt sell.

You riding tough tires, doing all those wheelies? I run Michelin City Pro's now, and they are standing up to Detroit roads- patched pot holes, brick roads, light rail/street car track hopping... Skinnier than 3" tires have the possibility of wedging in next to the rail tracks, we share the roads with, in some areas. They can make ya take a header right over the bars, if you're not quick.

Right now, using a 17mm Bing from a Kreidler Florett RMC, on a further ported DMP 70 piston port, with a little fuego pipe. Kickstart springs in the two-shoe clutch, (og stock two-shoe. clutch is wearing faster now, than stock, with the higher rpm slip. I'm a fan of stock clutches. they were really well made, and tough.) but og pedal start.

Cool Moped. curious, what is that Oil? is it a wet clutch.... does it have some kind of separate crank case? I have a peugeot 103.... live overseas... hard to get info from the locals cause of the language barrier. love my moped....paid 60 bucks for it ....and it won't die. Have 5 scooter....and this one is the most fun and reliable.......even my NEW piaggio is giving problems.

I seem to remember from ye olde times that the maxis tend to develop cracks and delaminations around the bottom of the gas tank when they get wheelied. i also seem to recall there being kits of braces one can install to prevent this. when it does happen, the frame is buggered so might be worth a quick google.
