      I do like the bike & I found some other info that you might or might not know? "TheManoy66" is a channel here that boasts
      of having other Honda bikes that have parts that are interchangeable? I find that interesting as the current suspension is a
      little bit, "lacking"? He's in one of the nations that have had the 150 for years do it's a well proven bike but like I said, he's on
      YT & there are 1-2 bikes that you can grab a better front end off of(forks) & the wheels if you wanted but having the forks &
      rear shock would give a considerable boost in comfort/control. If you still own/ride her this info might be of interest to you
      as it was to me? Knowing this might sell me on the bike but we'll soon see? peace man

    Those bike are super popular in South America. They can run 60000 miles without any trouble if you take care.
    One cool thing about that engine is the bottom end is beefy, has big bearings and strong rod compared to another 150cc. So you will see drag racers strocking up to 220-240cc and getting like 35-40hp
    A really popular "every day" mod is 190cc cylinder (athena), a good 28mm carb (no china crap) , ignitec cdi, cams and exhaust that give you like 25hp reliable. You can source that components form Brazil will not be very expesive to you.

    • @lexeriw
      @lexeriw 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @the_trashman I think the CRF250F fit that your needs. Modern suspensión and chasis with a simple 250cc aircooled single cam engine
      Honda source the engine of that model to make the Honda New Twister 250cc For Latam that bike is like the toyota Corolla in US. You will see lots of those on the road with over 50000km still going strong.

Keeping the front wheel on the ground in the 1st three gears was almost impossible when on the pipe. Mulholland Drive was my friends and my playground. During summer vacation we rode all night long because we could see headlights coming the other way and knew when we could use the entire road. All that practice paid off as when I did a 24 HR endurance race at Willow I ended up being 5 seconds a lap faster than my 4 other team mates at night. They were so happy they let me do back to back stints which made me happy, lol.

    Nice vid, I have moved from the states to Asia about 15 years ago, after growing up in USA. I use to think 600cc was small....Well i have been on 150 cc Asian bikes for a while now, obviously they don't work for USA high ways and such, but for side roads they are absolutely awesome machines. First thing is simple physics, at about 250 lbs....they rock. Here in Indonesia a nice 150 is $2300-2500 out the door. Your XR is cool, I think its south American bike. We have better, CRF150L, fuel injected, inverted forks, disc brakes all around, digital dash........all for $2300. Anyways, awesome wheelies, enjoy the bike.

    I've bought a couple $20 carbs in my day. Actually I know pretty much every Chinese carb you can buy. Here's a lil nugget of info, an easier way to get the throttle cable out of the slide than using needle nose pliers, all you do is literally grab the slide in one hand and the top cap in the other hand and push them towards each other compressing the spring and then the cable will pop out the bottom of the slide and you can kinda push the cable over with your finger so it will align in that little slot. Work smart not hard.

    My tactic as a young man in the early 80s was to establish an account with a small independent bank. Save up 50% of the msrp of the bike I wanted and approach the bank for the balance on credit. I'd then offer the dealer 10% below retail in cash day of purchase... and make payments 35% over the premium to pay it down within the model year. That way depreciation didn't bite my butt if I wanted to sell it sooner than I thought I would.

    Breaking in an engine is crucial to its lifetime, normally you would drive half RPM and half throttle for the first 1000km or 600 miles, then change the oil and gruadually increase the throttle an rpm from there . Also breakes and tyres normally need to break in about 100km )60 miles) before the get peak performance

    • @thedanyesful
      @thedanyesful ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that really the case with modern engines? I feel like break in was more relevant before modern machining tolerances, and precision cylinder sleeves and coatings.

    • @nkkox
      @nkkox ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thedanyesful Yes, still very important. A lot shorter lifespan, if not broken in properly.

Plus, never messed with carbs before because I’m a newer rider and most bikes have EFI. The dealer I got mine from had a $400 markup because they had a 3 person waiting list for a white one but, I bought the black one sitting in the showroom. They said it was an "Assembly fee" yet after I rode it when I got home I had to adjust the throttle, rear brake, chain slack and the front fender was lose so it shifted out of place. And being in CA the stupid DMV fees brought mine up to $4200 out the door. Since the bike was so cheap I used my credit card since I had no plans to finance and used the points to put all my trick parts on it. The list is long. Don't buy that cheap plastic Honda skid plate. I picked up a crash bar from the Ukraine for $110 including shipping that is all steel and has excellent welds and finish and doesn't look like an afterthought accessory. With my fat 230 LBS I got 75 MPG on a run that was pegged full throttle a majority of a 40 mile ride. I put in a 115 main jet and noticed a change in how it pulls down low so next I will put a 16T in front to help pull in 4th and 5th although I have had it to 65 on level ground w/out ducking down and almost 70 downhill. If I get a speeding ticket on this the cops is very desperate. Ride safe and have fun.
