Noticed on the pedals you did both your left and your right foot when braking. Is that something to do with drifting? I was was taught to drive using my right foot for gas and for brake. The left foot was only ever used in a standard/manual transmission.
Left foot braking is used a lot in motorsport. Formula cars and many GT/LMP cars don't have or don't make use of a clutch paddle. Some have a clutch paddle on the wheel. In these cars and even sometimes in a car with a clutch pedal it's considered faster to brake with your left foot. It saves time versus moving over from the gas with your right foot. And you can do things like blending gas + brake to balance the car. Sometimes you'll even see onboard pedal cams where the driver taps the brake with his left foot as he's approaching a corner. This is to make sure there's no gap between the brake pads and disc. When driving manual cars like an older MX-5 I switch between left and right foot braking depending on the corner. If I have to down shift I right foot brake and heel toe downshift. If it's a faster corner with no downshift or I just need to balance the car I use my left foot
On PC yes you can use a G29 to play Forza Horizon or any game really. But on Xbox One, and Series S/X the G29 will not work as it's PlayStation and PC wheel. Only the G920 or G923 Xbox version will work on Series X. There are third party tools like a DriveHub and GIMX that can help use unsupported wheels on console but I have not used any.

I have this problem with my g920 where the wheel is super stiff. I managed to kinda fix it, but now my wheel auto steers the moment i steer into any direction (in forza). How do i fix this?
Thanks for this indepth review. I feel as if I know everything about the wheel. I imagine everything you have said will apply to the G923 as well. Good stuff!
th-cam.com/video/_dXfYnR-Y7E/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching. I have just as in depth of a video about the G923. I think the TrueForce adds something to the experience but not sure everyone will feel it's enough to justify the additional cost. But in the end the MSRP of the G923/G29 has been reduced to match what it's been going for at retail stores pre-covid. And they'll be offering both "tiers" of the wheel together for a while. So you have the choice of picking the G923 or saving cash and getting the previous gen.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but great video! By far the most detailed video that I have found. I'm thinking about getting a refurbished G29 for $180, and a new Thrustmaster TH8S Shifter to go with it (because it seems a lot nicer than the Logitech shifter,) the G29 and the TH8S should work fine together as long as I plug the shifter USB directly into my laptop, right?
Can confirm.the TH8S is nicer than the Logo shifter. It comes with an adapter to plug into a PC via USB. On PC you can mix and match as many individual peripherals as you like as long as they can act as a standalone USB device. Each will appear as a separate game controller and you'll be able to map them to whatever you wish in the game/Sim. Thanks for watching! Happy racing!
Everybody on TH-cam I was just wondering what is the best set up cuz his steering wheel keeps jerking back and forth side to side he's not touching the Sumo he's stepping on the gas and it goes back and forth what is the reason of that
i believe you are referring to the force feedback. the whole point of using a racing wheel is to get a better feel of the car you a drive, which you dont get on a controller. the game you decide to play is basically coded so when you go over a bump, or youre about to lose your rear end or you crash, it mimics those forces into the wheel. just overall gives you a better idea of when youre about to lose traction and its a more immersive experience
It generally depends on the title and car. Also different games have different assists. In most titles you can use paddles even on cars that have a manual gearbox and vice versa. There's probably a game setting you can change to enable/disable the clutch pedal. In some games using the clutch pedal even on cars that have sequential gearboxes can make you faster. So it's down to looking at the game settings, car gearbox, then finding a balance of realism, speed and comfort that works for you.

Oh PC yes. On console it would require something like the DriveHub or Chronus
@@BallisticTech thanks for your help... yeah.. for PC indeed. Cheers
@@aliasangelalias TH8A should have a usb adapter that is plug and play on PC. Just have to map it in game.
Awesome video, you put alot of work into this. You deserve a million subs
Thank you for watching and commenting. I definitely put a lot of work into the video!
@@BallisticTech also what exactly is force feedback
Is it basically the wheel vibrating?
Havent even finished the vid but i subbed love the vid man
Awesome! Thanks for watching. I'm loving Sim Racing and hoping to do more and more content around it.
Does the shifting feel really clicky and fake? Or does it feel smooth and realistic
Could I just use the wheel? Without the gas pedals? Also, will that wheel tighten ok on a thin glass top desk
I have this problem with my g920 where the wheel is super stiff. I managed to kinda fix it, but now my wheel auto steers the moment i steer into any direction (in forza). How do i fix this?
I've seen ppl report this when their frb is inverted somewhere in game or Logitech software
@@BallisticTechthank you! where can I invert that is the fh5 settings do you know that.
@@BallisticTech nvm I found it it works!
Would u say this is the best wheel for a beginner in around that price range
The G920 is compatible with the xbox series x right? Just wanna make sure
that intro is me trying to drive just got my wheel lol
I'm have a g920 but still had to set up rigth have a better caliber 😅
Thanks for this indepth review. I feel as if I know everything about the wheel. I imagine everything you have said will apply to the G923 as well. Good stuff!
th-cam.com/video/_dXfYnR-Y7E/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching.
This was a great and in-depth review, good job!
Thank you for watching and commenting. In-depth was definitely what I was going for!
@@BallisticTech Awesome, thanks! I was a little confused about how all the different peripherals would coexist, thanks for clearing that up!
Everybody on TH-cam I was just wondering what is the best set up cuz his steering wheel keeps jerking back and forth side to side he's not touching the Sumo he's stepping on the gas and it goes back and forth what is the reason of that
i believe you are referring to the force feedback. the whole point of using a racing wheel is to get a better feel of the car you a drive, which you dont get on a controller. the game you decide to play is basically coded so when you go over a bump, or youre about to lose your rear end or you crash, it mimics those forces into the wheel. just overall gives you a better idea of when youre about to lose traction and its a more immersive experience
hey nice vid
my question is if you need to use the clutch when using the shift pedals ?
It generally depends on the title and car. Also different games have different assists. In most titles you can use paddles even on cars that have a manual gearbox and vice versa.
There's probably a game setting you can change to enable/disable the clutch pedal.
In some games using the clutch pedal even on cars that have sequential gearboxes can make you faster.
So it's down to looking at the game settings, car gearbox, then finding a balance of realism, speed and comfort that works for you.
You buy the shifter different or it comes with the g920
You have to buy it separate
@@liampeters2570 oh okay👍👍
@@TheGamers-um3fb or some people sell it with the gear stick
Great video!! Definitely helped me get into racing I went with the G920.
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and happy racing!

Outstanding video! Look forward to more.
Which wheel is better than the G290?
i got one for $190 today on amazon prime day
Would the wheel still work with my Xbox series x? Or just with the Xbox one(EDIT)
After watching more of the video I have awnsered my own question
Thanks for watching!
Hey. Great vid.
Do you recommend any decent wheels that work on Xbox 360?
but i just want a simple setup with 900deg, force feedback, 3 pedals and a gear shifter.
i don't need hand stiched leather or extra buttons. why none makes these? would sell really well.
Awesome video man! Tryna find my first wheel and this was super helpful
