I've been taking some time out the last few days to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We managed to get the kids to bed early tonight, so instead of sharing a romantic evening together, I threw her in the Sim Rig.

Is this the same Aussie couple of who the husband surprised the wife with an F1 SIM set up a few years ago?
I remember the scene of her driving in and wondering what her husband was up to filming her walking inside the house and seeing the SIM for the first time. Most surprising thing was that she didn't freak out like any other typical Aussie wifey, she actually wanted to try it out.

Been in a rig like this where the scenario is already done up - and it was very fun and the motions definitely felt convincing that the car was going forward/sideways. But this is a whole new level! To be able to give input to get a dynamic output like this is just something I've always wanted to experience.

Ever since most of us were kids this has probably been a dream of ours… I’ve grown up, learnt to drive a real car, yet to drive a rig like this is something I will always ALWAYS want to do.

for some reason this is more of a goal than getting a car for me... probably because once you pay for everything there is no more money spent on the rig and to drift you dont need to spend money on tires

Not sure how old you are I remember a rig in the arcade with the old blocky OG graphics and you had to drive the car around a loop and it was really hard hit I always wanted to drop a quarter in it, that and the Aega Rally sim.

Great vid. A few years ago I frequently passed through LA and usually hired a fun car and would spend a lot of time driving around such places - Angeles Crest Hwy (from memory) etc. Did it in anything from a Mini Cooper S convertible to a Dodge Challenger and had a blast! Wouldn't mind that sim in my basement - not sure my Minister of War and Finance is as generous as yours! Cheers from Sydney - Dave
I have seen many racing sims and I have to say using these huge monitors/tvs and that plastic that goes between the screens to hide the gap with the lights off really makes this look so fucking real. I have to admit this is probably the best looking sim setup in someone's home period and tbh even better than most I have seen commercially. It looks so good even when crashing.

From my observations, isn't it the wheel range and sensitivity a bit too much?
I am saying this because I don't think the wheel is set up for a driving Sim, but rather racing :)
This looks so fun, what an incredible setup!
Interesting point about the air simulation helping with motion sickness - It's not something I've ever suffered from myself but I have friends that do.
Obviously very different to a rig like this, but I play a good amount of VR stuff, sim racing included and said friends often have a bit of trouble in faster paced stuff due to the simulated motion. Having a fan blowing on them enables my friends to play those kinds of games for a bit longer where usually they would have felt sick very quickly. My mum found even flat screen first person games give her motion sickness, only person I've known personally to have this problem, but even she said the fan actually helped a bit when she briefly tried it.
Don't really understand the exact science, but it helps the body/mind kind of "ground" itself and feel less disorientated. It's a useful tip for anyone who suffers with motion sickness, weather that's from a fully physical rig like this or purely visual like VR/flat screen.
Me: Spends 100k on sim racing setup.
Also me: Sleeping in my real car because wife got the house in the divorce.

I just stepped up to a G923, pedals and shifters and really enjoyed it. Before this it was keyboard and controller.

Yeah, right, I know I'm super late to the party, but this is just so awesome! As a motorcycle driving "Angeleno", I have to say that I thought it was Highway 2, then when you confirmed it to your wife as "canyons in Los Angeles" I was VERY impressed. The rendering of the scenery, road, elevation changes, etc. all are very spot on. Personally, I've never driven (or ridden) it in the wet, but this was so fantastic to watch and enjoy! Great video as always. Maybe, every once in a while, you can swap your pedal cam window with the view from behind that awesome rig. With the big screens and, I guess, the action of the motion tracker, the motion of your rig isn't as obvious. Keep up the good work and the fun.

Wow, having owned this exact car for a few years, it's amazing how detailed this model is.
It's cool to see that road in digital. I've driven that road many times. The Kern river was to her right. It's a rather pretty drive.
The rain on the windscreen are so realistic, when the car turns or speed up the rain drops flow according the force or wind direction

@@superstar5042 yeah with that amount of money i would buy some rally sessions. I only play race games till i can afford the real car but even if i have 100k i would not buy it for a simulator. I would go to the race track irl. But people also play fifa or nba games and i never understood this when you can just go out in reality. I only like games that i cant do in real life like unreal tournament / tekken or such. As a kid its fine but now as an adult i want to live the real things.

The kids are blessed to have such enthusiastic and pleasant parents.
For her skill level, she did an amazing job not crashing or making major mistakes for a good 6 mins I think! She didnt push too much and made gradual motions with the wheel and pedals. Fun video. The sim is unreal.
Wow! What a rig! I bet you could let the local kids learn to drive for a fee, or even let them play for a fee... This is what driving schools should have. Great to see that your wife enjoys it too. :)

Awesome rig, its the most realistic experience i've ever seen.
The tape over the is a nice touch. I know its not perfect, but better then having a hard line seperating the screens.

Thats gotta be the best racing set up I've ever seen. I can't tell what's part of the setup and what's part of the game half the time.
This is amazing I wish I had the room and money for something like this but also I think this will be a perfect idea to teach kids who are getting their learners permit soon how to drive.
Yeah, this way better than a flight Sim for sure. The more simulateable movement really lends itself to the experience.
Man it's so cool to see someone finally have close to my setup, I did this but for a transport, so I have huge boxes I cut out and placed a crap ton of buttons, and its all laid out like a big Peterbilt...This is cool to see in a car version though....I also didn't spend 100k though... maybe 11k ish lol...I also run 2 smaller monitors that are just for mirrors it's kinda neat when driving trailers etc...anyhow, amazing job on yours man! Wicked stuff, great layout

This is what heaven must be like. No speed limit, no cops, falling off a cliff or crash head on into another car no problem just reset.
I love driving this same Mazda in Assetto Corsa! its the car I always chose when I want to just drive around and chill, also you're on the same map I chose too! only difference here is your setup is about $999,000 fancier than mine :)
