The next vid in the rally series is up! Do rally sim skills *actually* transfer to a real life rally car? I find out... th-cam.com/video/iKi7j2VfZKE/w-d-xo.html
Ryan, as someone who does sim race on gt7, I highly highly highly recommend using abs set to weak at a minimum. PD did not do brake physics properly and you cannot trail brake with abs off. Weak works best for gr3/4 cars and default works best for road cars. I'd also recommend not wasting more money on those pedals and get proper load cell pedals. You can use an adapter and get the pro pedals to work with your g29. It will be the best money you spend for this and allows for the creation of muscle memory which translates better to real world (have spent years doing track days, auto x and rally x).
very good advice abs is a must i also did the true brake upgrades and it works great but after upgrading to the Logitech pro wheel and brake i noticed a big difference
Only thing I have to say is that the great thing about the higher end sim racing games is that their setting are very in depth. That being said with the original G29 setup you just need to set the max braking distance within the game by pressing the pedal as far as you can then adjusting accordingly. Obviously you're not gonna put it all back together but it is a thing. Being a used set as well there's a chance the original owner "upgraded" the brake stop in it or possibly removed it. May be something to look into with the settings even with the new setup.
Solid upgrades! I have the Trueforoce brakes, paddle shifter ring, and shifter magnets and that alone is already great. I def want the inverted peddle mounts next!
my inverted pedals mount involved removing plastic and blting the metal pedals to a plate i bought from scrapyard for 2 bucks and i screwed it to the wall best thing i ever did couldnt drift after 40 gours inverted pedals i was figuring it out in 20 minutes throttle control is key
feels weird to see someone throw so much time, money and effort on entry level playstation parts for sim racing. I kinda wanna see you partner with a company to try out some different high end sim rigs then build something up with help of dirt fish to get it as close to reality as possible.
Considering that for console there is not much option i think is a great video to see how you can improve a basic set up into something a bit better and slightly more competitive
To all the peeps saying buy this buy that obviously didn't watch the video to the end where it shows him upgrading to a Simagic set up, save ya comments peeps.. good vid man..

Thank you for this video. I have the logitech g923 setup. I made my own racing rig for PC. I have modded my logitech H shifter with G/K Mods. But this was exactly what I was looking for! I just bought the shifter V2 kit from the company and the handbrake off amazon. I play on PC so the hand brake won't be an issue. I'm still holding out for the truebrake pedal mod. I gotta space out my purchases cause of the wife! lololol. But I did invert my pedals a long time ago and upgraded the standard springs. I have them mounted at an angle to a piece of a shelf lol. Hey it works! I have also made my own custom button boxes. DIY modding is the way to go! If you wouldn't mind I would love to send you a pic of my racing setup. Yeah you always see the pros using all these fancy rigs costing who knows what. But being a working person with a fulltime job, family, etc, I love doing my custom stuff that works for me and my budget. Don't care how it looks, or that I'm using an office chair instead of a racing chair. I'm proud of it! Do what works for you! Plus I subscribed. Thanks bud.
My stage times were really improved when I switched from gear switch paddles on a wheel (yes, I played rally with gear switch paddles🤪) to proper sequential gear switch and changed rotation angle from 900 degrees to 540 degrees. Totally recommend it
That Simagic alpha setup is going to blow that Logitech away. I have an Alpha U. It was great when I got it and it has just gotten better and better over time. The haptic pedals are awesome as well.
For the speed and performance on track with logitech wheelbase you need to make it light as possible because ffb motor in that unit is so weak. Every weight you ad in it makes ffb slower and sluggish and it won't make favor in that regard. Other mods looks really good. 👍
Thank you for this video, I'm an xbox owner and have just started into the world of sim racing, I've bought the G920 set for a few reasons, first I'm not sure if I'm going to love racing and being on console my options are very limited, if I don't like it resale of my G920 will be pretty straight forward (according to Ebay) also it's relatively in expensive to get started, since buying the set I can say it's great fun, I've bought the truebrake mod and that is a truly game changing mod for the standard pedals, I've watched a few other videos where they swap the springs into the other pedals, Brake spring into throttle, throttle into clutch, discard clutch spring, I'm doing that tonight and will see if it feels better than stock. For me to go DD as a starting point would be far to expensive compared to my £250 investment into the hobby so far.
I just don't get why there's always someone complaining about another person using a cheaper (less expensive) racing wheel, upgrading parts of it and suggesting a higher expensive racing wheel as if it would make you faster or a better racing driver. You don't need the higher expensive racing wheel to be good at racing online and winning. I think it is similar to someone suggesting an expensive car that is already fast and not upgrading a cheaper (less expensive) car to be as fast or faster. There's plenty of good top racers online with such racing wheel. Let them enjoy upgrading parts for it. I own the Logitech G29 and changed the stock steering wheel to a carbon fiber GT3 style steering wheel because it is lighter than the stock one, FFB feels much better and looks better too. I also upgraded the brake pedal with the TrueBrake kit and I brake better than before. Not long ago I also bought both GT DD Pro and Logitech G Pro racing wheels (with their Load-cell brakes included too) and wasn't that much impressed coming from the Logitech G29 which I still own for playing arcade style racing games on the older console (PS3). The trueforce feedback technology from the Logitech G Pro racing wheel impressed me more.
With all the mods he bought I’m 100% sure that it would have been cheaper to buy something 10 times better like a Mosa R5 starter pack or something from Fanatec, with Amazon or eBay shifter and hand break… it’s not a bout bashing him for doing something he wants to do, it’s to spread the information to people considering upgrading or even starting so they know what their options are.
Frame the criticism how ever you want, at the end of the day it's still a low end 2.4nm gear driven base. That's what transfers the feel to your hands. Junk in junk out.
Hi Ryan!! I've missed you on the MTB side of YT, so happy to find you here! We have 3 hobbies in common now mate. I am going to sub to the other channel as well. Best of luck mate

It just needs to be able to slide back to off position freely. Also thanks I bought the pedal setup that your using it looks sick!🎉
I’m going to try to beat your best time using the old Sim setup…1:24.8 I believe is the track record - loved the upgrades have to try the pedal setup upgrade
I'm just starting to play with GT7 + G29. One free "mod" is you can swap the brake and clutch pedals - I don't have a shifter, so no use for clutch anyway - and take out the rubber dampener from the brake's spring. My brake pedal is on the left now, and works much better. May not be realistic, it's almost as soft as the accelerator.
As someone who switch to a Moza R12 3 days ago using g27 pedals and shifter atm. The pedal mod is worth it but for shifter, for a little bit higher price getting a SHH SHIFTER THORN seems to be a better option unless you are limited to console.
Pro tip for those that have a shifter but no handbrake. I set both paddles as handbrake so no matter where the wheel is in its rotation i can grab a paddle in VR. I very rarely drive anything with a sequential or modern paddles so shifting is never a problem for me. Its so much better than trying to find a button with your finger

You can buy all the upgrades you want, but first, most important thing your seating arrangement. You look like you're sitting in a semi truck Your wheel needs to be in lined up with your chin. Simulate being in race car, or whatever car. There's websites. If you Google it, it will show the measurements of your legs, your body distance from your screen, all that.
Great video man really enjoyed it. One thing i feel you want to start doing is get some thicker socks and drive with those and lose the shoes that gives you so much more feeling with using your paddles. Its going to be so much smoother and you are going to be so much more confident. I really like the setup tho.
Informative and very entertaining at the same time. Thanks for sharing . I'm thinking... I also have a G29...( I will get so much trouble from my wife...this would be such a cool project!... what should I do? 🙂) Best regards.
a lot of race cars have very good abs , it used to be a thing were in the 90s it wasnt great n abs kickin on would hinder breaking performance n good drivers were quicker than the abs systems , its not like that now abs is heavly used your at a disadvantage now if you dont use it IRL racing, so dont feel guilty use the assists until comfortable is my best advice , also ive got that handbrake but i fitted it to side of seat bent over like a regular car rather than like a modern rally car
"Load Cell" Great in-depth video, it helped me to install mine easily.....Thanks !! On a slightly different note.....Where did you get your 'Sparco Shoes' ??
Hey man just wanted to say that in real life GT3 cars always use TC and ABS and are never driven without it, otherwise I really enjoyed this video as I was this close to buying the Acelith rim but decided against it and went for a entry lvl DD wheel from Fanatec.
That’s exactly why I went for a GT3 car! I wanted the utilize the most difficult setup I could think of in order to properly expose the differences between the stock setup and the modded setup.
Imagine my shock stumbling into this video after having watched tons of Loam Ranger videos. I can’t wait to see how you like the Simagic stuff. I recently jumped from old Logitech stuff to Moza, and the difference is incredible. You’ll want (and really should have) an aluminum profile rig for your new stuff. Getting rid of flex will help with your consistency, and be more like driving a real race car.
When you switch to PC - get a direct drive wheelbase and Heusinkveld Sprints and make your setup more solid (either by purchasing or making an aluminium profile rig) or modifying your existing rig. You will want a proper racing seat and higher positioning of your wheel. The racing seat is underappreciated as it will help you be more consistent on the brake because you will feel the brake force through your leg and into your back which will push against the seat and you will be able to feel the exact amount of braking force you are using. As your chair has a flexible back you lose this
I’ve heard from an f1 interview that a good brake pedal should be focused stiff with muscle memory rather than a soft and floaty brake pedal. I guess the stiffer one will better your lap time too since there’s less travel
You got the same wheel stand I had! I just sold mine, that thing was ol’ reliable, for a hunk of metal, it is actually really good. Hope you get as much fun and reliability with it as I did. 😄😁
I feel like it'll make a really big difference when you get a seat out of a salvage yard. I bought one out of a Toyota Celica GT. It came with no power options. So it was very affordable. I mean if you want to get one out of a Bentley with heated seats and electric lumbar etc etc. I'm sure it might cost some more but still that's my best advice and then build the rig. The more real you can get it to feel the better. It's going to be simply put
I'm a newbie too bro, your doing better than me that's 4sho!! What wheel do you have? I'm trying to find a handbrake but not having any luck, why doesn't logitech just make a handbrake for the set ups??
you can also upgrade the g29 with a bigger power supply and almost double the force feedback, although you might need to fan mod it then so it doesn't catch fire lol
I bought this same Shifter mod for my Console and can't bind the Gears to even use the Sequential Shifter, It just selects 3-4 and jumps back into Neutral when you let it go!!! Guessing Only Specific titles and specific consoles/PC get it to work?!
Idk if its in the budget when you get a computer but give a vr headset a try with the racing game of your choice. You would be surprised how much of a difference depth perception can make when trying to hit an apex. Vr is a great training tool.
Hey Joules . Pro Tipp: Choose Cockpit view "TYPE 2" in Settings in GT7 - It makes the Camera attached to the Helmet, not the Car - So you get more movement, Feedback, and Immersion, try it please :)
You are worse at driving than a drunk teenager on their L’s in a Ford KA after a frat party. Just kidding, you said get creative with the hate so I saw my window. Great vid man and great channel, keep it up ❤😂
If I may give a tip : you should change your position/chair or raise your wheel, your arms and hands are too low which keeps your elbows too close to your chest, making it generally harder to steer precisely.
this was a very interesting vid, I have no intention to play on consoles and even if I did I would use my fanatec setup (have PS4 and Xbox compatibilty on mine although I never used it ;o) I just wanted to see what upgrades there are for the crappy old Logitech most impressed by the shifter upgrades, transforming utter crap of a shifter to something that looks actually quite decent I wonder how much all those mods cost you, might be approaching entry level Moza or Fanatec setup ;o]] btw I am not a simracer, but I do enjoy racing games (not regullarly, just from time to time have a session or when a new game come out), more of a simcade racer type, but tried many full on sim games over the last decade and have somewhat decent entry level fanatec setup (CSL Elite PS4 base bundle with P1 steering wheel and CSL Elite v1 pedals) so I actually relate to a video from a fellow "amateur" racing fan more than watching seasoned simracer pros btw YT showed me your video because I subbed to your "The Loam Ranger" bike channel recently, although I am not a huge bike fan I recently watched few of your how-to-ride videos as I want to start riding more again and was super impressed and were probably the best bike how to videos I've ever seen so I subbed clicked on this video thinking "is that the same guy as in those great bike videos I watched recently? if so than it could be quite interesting" ;o] nice choice on the Simagic as the next step, Simagic Alpha Mini would be probably my choice of base from the entry level DD territory as I don't play on consoles, just not entirely sure about their wheel selection, I want round 320-330mm with lot of easily reachable buttons so I can also play simcade games and not just dials that are good for full on simulation games, something like a Moza Standalone ES steering wheel with the round rim upgrade would be what I would like as a casual racer who don't need to adjust stuff on the fly
I haven't played my sim rig or GT7 in a while, but if I can suggest an Amazon buy. It's not much. They sell water shoe things that have rubber bottoms, I found the perfect difference between shoes or socks. And a pair of Troy Lee super thin dirt bike gloves. I'll see if I can put links for them in a reply to my comment.
Pretty awesome video. I highly also suggest putting what they call a butt kicker under your chair. You’ll feel all the rumbling of the ground and your engine. Highly highly recommend it

I need to know what that AKG mic you're using on your rig setup is! Sounds fantastic, and really perfect for your voice.
Thanks! That's just an old C1000S.
"samir! What are you doing samir, youre braking the car"
jkjk just found your channel. Great content!
yo so idk bout gran turismo but normaly gt3 cars have abs and tc eaven irl so maby thats why its so hard to drive w out em idk
That's exactly why I did it. It's a proper test of the system when any wrong move causes a brake lockup or spinout!
Logitech Vs Simagic. it's like comparing stage 1 to Final Boss.
Haha surprise! Welcome to one of my 47 TH-cam channels... And I definitely agree about the profile rig. It's on its way!
@@runthejoules your choice of channel name for this is brilliant, by the way!
Just a little tip, have the finger you shift with on the pedals att all time för quicker shifts
for awhile when i didnt have a e brake i used the right paddle for the hand brake
Assetto Corsa! Assetto Corsa! Assetto Corsa! thats the best sim that will transfer what youve learned over to the real deal
Cool video. Thanks for sharing
I use truebrake mod on my g29 great video
Now I just gotta find myself a g29 on marketplace, these upgrades are sick
I cant lie I just see Ronald McDonald’s foot on the pedals every time you show it.😂 nice vid tho brotha im doin research lol.
I was wondering why you werent slamming the brakes down to trail brake later in the corner, then i realized you didnt have abs on.
Once you get that pc, try this in vr, you’ll never go back.
(Obv vr can be expensive, a quest 2 is probably your best budget bet tho)
I will watch your journey, this will be sick!
I'm a newbie too bro, your doing better than me that's 4sho!! What wheel do you have? I'm trying to find a handbrake but not having any luck, why doesn't logitech just make a handbrake for the set ups??
Very Well done video I heavily enjoyed it!
you can also upgrade the g29 with a bigger power supply and almost double the force feedback, although you might need to fan mod it then so it doesn't catch fire lol
I bought this same Shifter mod for my Console and can't bind the Gears to even use the Sequential Shifter, It just selects 3-4 and jumps back into Neutral when you let it go!!!
Guessing Only Specific titles and specific consoles/PC get it to work?!
just randomly clicked on this, didn't expect it to be the loam ranger lol
Idk if its in the budget when you get a computer but give a vr headset a try with the racing game of your choice. You would be surprised how much of a difference depth perception can make when trying to hit an apex. Vr is a great training tool.
Big expenditure of money and energy... I'm sure the gloves would have been enough ! 😅🤪
Hey Joules . Pro Tipp:
Choose Cockpit view "TYPE 2" in Settings in GT7 - It makes the Camera attached to the Helmet, not the Car - So you get more movement, Feedback, and Immersion, try it please :)
I don’t even have GT7! This is GT SPORT 🙈
You only need a rubber band to turn the Logitech H pattern shifter into a sequential shifter & 2 longer screws to hold the rubber band
Hey man, do you think you could do one of these videos with a thrustmaster t300 rs gt? Id love to see how cool you could make it.
What microphone do you use when you're in your living room showing the wheel you bought?
sometimes you shift to early, but keep it up, love the vid btw
the production quality is actually amazing. pretty surprised you only have that much subs
Thanks! For sub count, if you saw how many videos I put out per year, it would all make sense. 😬😂
You are worse at driving than a drunk teenager on their L’s in a Ford KA after a frat party. Just kidding, you said get creative with the hate so I saw my window. Great vid man and great channel, keep it up ❤😂
"If you're gonna be a know-it-all, at least be funny while you're at it"
If I may give a tip : you should change your position/chair or raise your wheel, your arms and hands are too low which keeps your elbows too close to your chest, making it generally harder to steer precisely.
From factory default to custom
Noice
👍
Will the sequential shifter mod work in gt7?
this was a very interesting vid, I have no intention to play on consoles and even if I did I would use my fanatec setup (have PS4 and Xbox compatibilty on mine although I never used it ;o)
I just wanted to see what upgrades there are for the crappy old Logitech
most impressed by the shifter upgrades, transforming utter crap of a shifter to something that looks actually quite decent
I wonder how much all those mods cost you, might be approaching entry level Moza or Fanatec setup ;o]]
btw I am not a simracer, but I do enjoy racing games (not regullarly, just from time to time have a session or when a new game come out), more of a simcade racer type, but tried many full on sim games over the last decade and have somewhat decent entry level fanatec setup (CSL Elite PS4 base bundle with P1 steering wheel and CSL Elite v1 pedals)
so I actually relate to a video from a fellow "amateur" racing fan more than watching seasoned simracer pros
btw YT showed me your video because I subbed to your "The Loam Ranger" bike channel recently, although I am not a huge bike fan I recently watched few of your how-to-ride videos as I want to start riding more again and was super impressed and were probably the best bike how to videos I've ever seen so I subbed
clicked on this video thinking "is that the same guy as in those great bike videos I watched recently? if so than it could be quite interesting" ;o]
nice choice on the Simagic as the next step, Simagic Alpha Mini would be probably my choice of base from the entry level DD territory as I don't play on consoles, just not entirely sure about their wheel selection, I want round 320-330mm with lot of easily reachable buttons so I can also play simcade games and not just dials that are good for full on simulation games, something like a Moza Standalone ES steering wheel with the round rim upgrade would be what I would like as a casual racer who don't need to adjust stuff on the fly
Love your headphones
I have most of these mods. That sequential shifter mod will destroy your shifter.
I bought the acelith wheel and gloves also. Wheel was ok but grips were plastic
Moza R5 will be a sweet setup for most people and all comes together 😂
Does the handbrake work with the G923 on PS5?
pretty sick but fir the combined price of the g29 and all the upgrades, you can buy an entry dd wheel-
Can't forget the higher amperage power supply mod, let's you get more ffb force.
Pretty awesome video. I highly also suggest putting what they call a butt kicker under your chair. You’ll feel all the rumbling of the ground and your engine. Highly highly recommend it
Not really a comment on the vid but I just have to say W name. Such a great name brother congrats
