I like your picture window. This is the background I would like to have. Perhaps I would have painted it with rust paint in order to look more "industrial". Great place. Great videos. Great man. 😄
I'm not sure if it's intended of not, but either way, some earbuds have a feature that can detect near the ear touches and map those to specific actions. Example, Samsung have this feature enabled on their earbuds to increase/decrease the sound volume.
Per Google’s policy: “In stream ad views: This metric is counted when the viewer watches 30 seconds or until the end of the video, whichever comes first.” So, no, he did get a single cent of ad revenue from me because I immediately paused before even one second started playing 😂
Open back reference headphones are for sound staging and balance, not for noise transparency. Link buds, mf5, etc are not “open backs” in the same way as hd650s/600s, akg 702s, or other comparable cans. It is usually NOT a selling point for open backs to be used in the workplace or cohabited spaces because sound will leak out at high volumes and potentially disturb coworkers and people around you (especially for editing where you’re likely re-listening to chunks of audio multiple times repetitively). Btw - yes i guess it’s easier to hear through open backs then noise cancelled headphones obviously, but you must be editing audio at a very low volume for people to just come up to you and start a conversation without needing to get your attention.
@@ich_16 That's exactly what he said, they are not open-back. I can see the earbuds being useful for people who wear them while commuting where they cross roads and such and need to be a bit more aware of their surroundings. I still won't recommend listening to music while walking around town though.
9:15 This feature very much reminds me of the AKG K1000 "earspeakers", which were basically loud speakers designed to be worn just in front of your ears. Just like the NVM One, it can be listened to with the loudspeakers pointing directly to your ears, but they are ideally designed to be worn with the speakers angled slightly, emulating how speakers are placed in the room. I've had the privilege to test these headphones (they're vintage and pretty hard to drive without proper equipment) and listening to them in an angled fashion is really transformative. It's like I'm listening to speakers in a room. I'm assuming the NVM One integrated the feature for you to do something similar, but you'll probably only recognize a noticeable improvement in sound if the recording your listening to has a large amount of headroom to begin with, like orchestral tracks or live studio recordings. Of course, you'll need to reposition the headband forward slightly (like you mentioned) to be able to get the effect. Multi-track recordings, which is more common for modern recordings, will probably sound the same, or will probably just sound muffled if you listen to them with the speakers angled.
with my tinfoil hat on ..the intro, with the marques clone, feels like a throwback to his origins .. almost like it's meant to evoke some feeling of nostalgia towards the tech creator we fell in love with ..i'd be willing to put money down and bet there is a fresh box of cereal somewhere in the studio ready to make a cameo for old time's sake 👀
To be clear, you didn't need to spend $6000 on headphones to get open backs nor on work headphones. They can be professional while spending much less. @@SphoorthyN
For the NWM One. You can probably tilt it because the HF Driver is in the middle. High frequencies are very directional and should point at the middle of your ear.
Open back headphones are better suited for sound engineers who want to do mixing, because they are open, the sound does not reflect inside of them, so that you get more accurate sound representation
People think it's edited but that right there is his twin brother at the beginning. How clever of him to keep that a secret to use as improvisation in his vids... 🔥🔥🔥
I have had the NWM ones for a few months and honestly they are amazing. Daily wear at work and running errands, feels like nothing is on your head. Obviously you’re not going to get the sound quality of super high end headphones, but you feel really present when listening. Derrick Gee’s (wife’s) review on the clock app mentioned it like having your own personal soundtrack and she is right. 9/10. But true, the build could be better.
How did you not mention that the NWM Ones have a reverse noise-canceling feature? Because they're so open they cancel sound outside of the headphones so people won't hear your music. That’s probably the coolest part about these!
These are great for someone (me) who loves driving a convertible with the top down, who loves loud music, but is self-conscious about blasting music from the car, but also doesn't want to wear headphones so they can still hear the surroundings. I found neck speakers are a surprisingly good alternative. Sounds pretty good and you feel the bass on your shoulders.
One good reason to go with headphones that don’t physically isolate is comfort. Things like transparency mode and noise canceling put constant pressure on your ear drums… the only tool they have to simulate either quiet or the sound around you is blasting your ear with noise (even if it’s inverted so as to cancel out perceived sound). Personally, I find it fatiguing; a few minutes of using the newest airpods in a noisy environment makes me feel like I’m climbing in a pressurized airplane cabin. Having tinnitus makes it worse. It feels very weird to have “silence” trigger ringing in your ear.
Nice reviews, also my people says the best reply to fools, is silence, don't let the trolls get to you, it's just their only job, they have nothing else to do, keep doing your great job, but take effort to take some factors into consideration for future videos. Much Love, keep doing your job.

Also I feel that the voice over narration from Marques sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom lol. tripped me out a bit but I also like listening to your videos with headphones to be able to pick up these details so please keep up the good quality content.
As others have said, open backs are all about letting the drivers move freely which gives better soundstage. My pair of $70 open back headphones has vastly better soundstage than anything I tried up until about $250 - $300 in closed backs. They bleed, I can hear some outside noise, but their function is drivers moving freely, not letting outside noise in.
Great video but I think you missed the best of if all 'weird' open backs -- the Koss KSC75. Cheap, sound amazing and probably the best way for people to try open back sound without spending much money.
4:54 actually the Bose ultra do have multiPoint Bluetooth. It requires an update. They don’t have them out of the box but they came after recent update.
FYI for those of you who have a hard time with ear buds staying in your ears. I've tried like 10 different brands and no luck. I got the nothing open ear ones and they've been great! Very comfortable, great battery life, good sound quality. The design makes it so they don't fall of your head and the band is flexible and soft. The drivers do float in front of your ear and can wiggle but they've never touched my ear while I'm being active. I've tried the Beats version that does have an earbud seal but these have been more comfortable. Only gripe is that in loud environments they don't get loud enough to combat the external noise. But it's fine in most cases.
Look into getting yourself some custom ear-moulds. It's pretty common for musicians, motorcyclists, or people with hearing aids. It's quite a weird experience, but not unpleasant. And it's not that expensive.
what ended up working for me after trying a number of different earbuds and none of them staying in my ear no matter what I tried and adjusted was just buying a $20 pair at a walmart register. They hold in my ear better than anything 've spent up to $120 for and don't sound half bad.
Bose Ultra Open are game changers for me too! Love how they blend music with ambient sound. But I'm with you, the NWM ones at that price point? Tempting, but maybe for the look more than the sound. 😂 And yeah, that intro point at 5:09 was a nice touch, Marques always has these little easter eggs!
Great overview of the newer, unconventional wireless open-back headphones! At home, I use a pair of pretty traditional-looking Fidelio X2HR for my listening sessions. They’re not the best headphones I’ve ever heard, but they sound excellent when connected to my DAC and playing lossless music. They’ve served me well for relaxed, high-quality listening. I really love the concept behind the nwm ONEs, and I’m seriously considering the Bose Ultra Open as my next pair. However, I’d love to see more detailed information about all of these options. Measurements, in particular, are invaluable-they go a long way toward showing the actual performance of headphones, cutting through the subjective opinions and surface-level overviews. It's great to get impressions, but the data often tells the full story.
The Bose now have multipoint since the latest update. I use them for running and even at events where I go all out they stay in place with no trouble. Love them so much, I can wear them for the whole 7 hours until they need a charge without any pressure feeling or need to change the position they are in.
This type of headphones has one other benefit that you probably don't realize: some of them work for people who can't put traditional buds into their ear canals for health reasons but don't want to switch to bulky over the ear headphones
This is actually what I was thinking as one of my college friend has ear infection issues or something which does not allow him to wear traditional ear phones and these are a great solution. Actually I myself thought if something like these were even possible and here they are already in the market....
For an ultimate upen back experience, there are the RAAL Requisite SR1a headphones :) One thing open backs do much better than transparency mode is the pressure alleviation. With the perfect seal of in-ear monitors, there is a pressure difference between the ear canal and the outside world, which can be uncomfortable for longer listening.
I’m surprised there was no mention of the sound difference between closed and open cans relative to soundstage and open sound. Open back headphones weren’t designed to be good for conversation, but to open the area of perceived sound spatially. Use cases are likely changing but MKB’s HD650 cans weren’t designed for transparency of room sounds.
Exactly, the only thing in terms of 'transparency' I do agree with is open-backs ARE great for office usage. I use a pair in office as well, but that's more of a benefit of them not why they were created
I think marques misses the point of open back headphones. They are not analog transparency mode. They sound better than closed backs because the sound is not squished into your ears, it floats around your ear so the layering in the sound is much better. Thát is the function of open backs, not transparency.

I'm not sure if it's intended of not, but either way, some earbuds have a feature that can detect near the ear touches and map those to specific actions. Example, Samsung have this feature enabled on their earbuds to increase/decrease the sound volume.

Btw - yes i guess it’s easier to hear through open backs then noise cancelled headphones obviously, but you must be editing audio at a very low volume for people to just come up to you and start a conversation without needing to get your attention.
look at nothing-sony marketing for their open earbuds and you will know its not for soundstage

Not watching the video. Like a speedy gonzales, I stopped it within the first second. I'm now enjoying me some comments.

@@MrCosmin94that's how a real professional does it. Peak work ethics.

People in 2024: nothing better than muting the outside world
People in 2025: nothing better than hearing the outside world
I have had the NWM ones for a few months and honestly they are amazing.
Rotating the direction of the driver would probably help with hearing aids like mine, the mic is housed behind my ear. 9:45
With a driver like marques, you don't need headphones, you need a guardian angel.
Have you ever tried using headphones as hearing aids like the air pod ones mentioned in this video?
Another speedy review. 👍🏼
How did you not mention that the NWM Ones have a reverse noise-canceling feature? Because they're so open they cancel sound outside of the headphones so people won't hear your music. That’s probably the coolest part about these!
As someone who wears glasses, those Bose Ultra Open buds look really interesting.

Like seeing a review video from review guy on products that aren't traditional. Appreciate the perspectives and inclusion of hearing aid compatibility.
He knows alot about drivers moving freely.
@11:00 donut headphone
6:18 Well, they make it seem as if you're deaf.
That’s the best part then no one at work will question your headphones
open headphones would be handy for those pedestrians that don't wanna get hit by your car lol
hehe
Brilliant! Now you should try driving the speed limit
The Boses do actually have Multipoint, it came via an update last summer.
The headphones couldn’t have been as open as those roads in the school zone
14:20 big brain analogy

One thing open backs do much better than transparency mode is the pressure alleviation.
