LS main here, one feature I don't see many people discuss is that the spirit charge move is faster the future along the combo you are. For example you don't watch your spirit gauge and after hit 2-3 you don't have enough gauge to continue the combo just hold down R2 it doesn't drain your gauge in fact if you hold it. it fills up very useful And I got a few pro tips 1. Like in rise the iai spirit slash into special sheath can be spammed if you get the timing right (might not be that usable now but wait till we get our hands on quick sheath) 2. Foresight can once again be cancelled into Helmbreaker and special sheath and 3. Landing the roundhouse in red gives you a little bit of gauge back whereas the crimson worlwind slash costs red gauge. I can't wait to see how crazy LS gets with skills like quick 3, extend 3, powerprol 3 (and maybe focus 3)the potential is of the chard's
I'm sure there will be a ton of stuff I end of missing in these guides that are on the higher technical end but I'm just hoping it gets more people interested. From streams at least it seems the weapons are the most daunting to new potential players not understanding wtf is going on.
@FightinCowboy absolutely, explaining every little detail usually just gets people overwhelmed. But veterans and in-between players look at guides too and I didn't figure these things out myself. I found them in comments under guide videos 😅
Thanks for the weapon guides! I plan on playing the full game when it comes out. But as someone who's never played a monster hunter game there's so much to learn about everything so very helpful!
@mr.goochthethird1222 yeah I was going to pick it up so I can start understanding better the mechanics and weapons. That way when wilds does get here I will have a better understanding with everything. Even tho wilds is more begginer friendly I still felt there was a ton of stuff to learn
As a LS main I cannot wait to play LS again, The improvements made to LS mainly for me the fact you can cancel Spirit Helm is such a nice quality of life improvement.
LS in beta was surprisingly good. I usually main CB since MHGEN, but LS felt significantly more fluid to play, similar to how it felt in rise. Will probably main this, with bowguns as backup weapons for KB&M
Was trying to figure out how to get spirit guage bars for like an hour before finding this. Finally got it, hopefully the spirit gauge bars aren't cut with fent like the bars they sell on the darknet nowadays
The spirit charge can be used only after at least one spirit attack, it's a safe way to level up since you can roll out of the animation but you won't be able to use foresight slash and the time you're just standing in front of the monster charging the roundhouse is time you ain't doing damage. The technique has it's uses especially if you don't have enough gauge for the full combo but we have to see how much the focus skill speeds up the time needed to charge
@@shadowzero3983not true. You can hold R2 during any sufficiently long non-cancellable animation (e.g. Focus Strike) and once you recover, you will immediately begin charging instead of doing a Spirit Attack.
This was insane however, in rise there was a problem with giving the players too many options especially with the hammer where you could always zip towards the monster and do the spin to win. Now if you can do the spirit helm breaker with Wild's longsword every 4 seconds I wonder how fast it gets old..
@@thunder86440 depends on what your looking for. Lance has the best defense, Gun Lance has a great mix of defense and explosive offense and charge blade is a weapon with a high skill ceiling but if mastered outperforms them both in damage. Put simply try them all and see what feels best.
Yeah LS is a more advanced weapon IMO I mean you CAN use it as an intermediate weapon for slightly quicker knockdowns but the technical stuff like counter and spirit gauge levels are a bit more advanced. Like CB said it does take a bit to master it. I wouldn't put LS at the beginner level though. Liked and watched the video.
Longsword advantages: -Great dps -High mobility -a lot of hyper armour for some reason -low skill floor Disadvantages: -get bullied for using it (deserved)
I take this personally since I find playing optimally with counters etc pretty challenging, on par with my other weapon charge blade, which people for some reason find to be harder. But on other hand I have a friend who made it through all of world with the longsword without even knowing it had counters and a finishing move. So yeah...

you should REALLY play mh worlds, fire game, and will help you ease into this games mechanics

This looks so clean…and the armor is just chefs kiss. Can’t wait for this.

I am already geeking out because of the LS 🤓
YESSS, FINALLY! A gameplay where someone actually knows what they’re doing!
Ty, just what I needed. Forgot a lot about the longsword since mh:world.
LS was my favourite in MH world, then i fell in love with GS and Hammer i’m so ready to get back into it

Shame you're not calling out the button presses during the hunt. I still don't quite get what you're doing at which point :(
top right it shows the name of the move that was inputted
I really hope I can get my hands on a 5090 by the time this game comes out.
“I’m not great at LS”
Proceeds to annihilate the poor little monster!
I mean he's kind of a punching bag tbf, but I still think I struggle a lot with hiting my counter timings
If you hold r2 you can charge up a slash giving you a gauge level. Way faster than the standard Kai slash to fade to spirit combo
I thought I covered it in the video but maybe I missed it these are usually going through a few drafts

Now on keyboard trying to figure out how to trigger the gauge. It is so confusing 😅
Can you speak a bit about your armor set-up? I'm guessing you are going for bombardier but it's hard to tell what your exact build is and why.
Armor setup doesn't really matter that much for now, I'm mostly just rocking pieces I like the look of.

Need a way for the timer to speed up when you’re using fast forward, as this final time doesn’t mean anything in this context
This is impossible to track what button combos you are doing...some indicators or just showing it written what the combo is would help a lot...
90% of longsword is just R2 for spirit slash, R2+B for foresight slash and Y&B for the fade slash
i cannot get the spirit gauge to level up
Most of my attacks just keep missing. Forget about combos and stuff, i cant even properly land hits👀
Use focus mode to redirect. Every weapon can do this now
Use fade slash a lot. It's bread and butter for quick positioning
Is this on PS5? I just tried to try the beta on PC and it barely runs. Terrible performance.
This was PS5, the more recent guides are on PC and it's running beautifully for me.
Guys I need help. Lance, Gunlance or Charge Blade?

Only thing I can't figure out is this weird, spinning move I see some LS users do. It's even shown in one of the trailers.
Is it like a spinning arc? Thats the new Y combo after in red gauge
@FightinCowboy maybe? It's in trailer 3, at 1:58.
Just confirmed it's the red gauge follow up to helmsplitter with R2.
@FightinCowboy oh! Thanks dude. Its fuckin tight. They really upped LS this time around.

Your just saying a bunch of attack names that I don't know
Look at the screen, everything is labeled in the top right.
how are u gonna not tell us the button combination? u just tell me what move to do but not how to perform them
I talk about all the buttons at the start and they're always shown in the top right.
