It feels like they're trying to force us to focus on the power axe mode for damage, but I've never liked it. That style wants you to stand still and swing to get good damage (and the timing of it always feels off with the hangs on each hit), which is a lot riskier than I like to play. I always preferred to fight mainly in sword mode and just try to snipe openings with the SAED, but that's no longer an option thanks to removing the short path into it.
It would be so satisfying if you could charge your sword after your shield with the new shield charge combo. I cancelled my preorder after playing the beta, im really sad. I think people will under after a few weeks of playing, or they fix things for the final release
I've not been able to play the beta, but i'm not sure i like the new way of charging the shield with elemental boost, and what i mean specifically with this, is that i don't like how it replaces the roundslash as the better faster way to charge the shield, in concept i'm fine with charging the shield with elemental boost because it's tied nicely to somewhat the same controls as charging your sword (charge phials into charge sword, charge phials into charge shield, it just makes sense in my head), what i don't like is that now roundslash seems to be useless, which makes me question why it's even there instead of a new move or something, either these two options should have some different advantages to them (elemental boost for speed charging shield, roundslash for... something else) or roundslash should just be something new, because one of my most hated things in games are movesets where certain moves repeat themselves, but one version of that move is objectively better than the other, so the other one by default becomes useless and has no reason to be used (and no, i don't think "because players are used to these controls" is a good enough excuse to keep a useless move or mechanic around), i would hate if that happened to charge blade because i especially loved in world how pretty much every move had it's own specific use case, nothing felt like it was a waste.
I still don’t understand why we can’t swap weapon orientation, like in the grand scheme it’s a small gripe, but it has always bothered me that everyone is apparently left handed in the monster hunter universe. Has Capcom ever come out with a reason for this? Maybe I’m missing something.
The thumbnail got my so excited to see thrle hunter holding the blade in her right hand and the shield on her left arm. Got baited. Please, capcom, give us an option to inverse the hunter's dominant hand. All of the shielded weapons look wrong to me when I try to play them and I can't shake it. Another game of onnly playing 2 handed weapons, it is.
Hey first time playin monster hunter, went with charge blade cuz fuck it but does the charge blade have anything like how with the greatsword you hit triangle circle to almost do a parry with the monster
At ca 5:23 he explains how to charge the sword: "You can still power through that by holding triangle." If I understand right triangle is the same as LMB, but I can't for the life of me charge the sword that way... if anyone could give me some tips on how to charge the sword, I'd appreciate it a lot...
@@WhatAGuy09 Thanks, I wonder if it's a little dfifferent with keyboard, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong; I had to release the keys before hitting LMB; ctrl+RMB, release, hold LMB.
@hugo-pg5tv shieldcharge is longer when charged, Not while Just having them active. I mean having overloaded phials active. And yes I know it increases damage, ofcourse. My question ist how much.
It's really weird, I was charge blade mains and basically only play CB in world and rise and I don't know what it is but there is something wrong with CB in wilds, the weapon is not have the omph feeling when I do AED/SAED or even the savage axe attack, this is suck and I would probably switch to LS since I actually like the feeling more than CB in wilds 😂
They don't glow unless you're in focus mode, but they are visible on the monster. It's important to note that some monster parts will become available to focus strike after or during certain attacks even without a wound. An example would be ray dao's head after his mega bolt attack. It will glow red if you look at him in focus mode.
It probably is, but this isn’t a full guide yet, this is designed for newcomers while also showcasing some of the new stuff, and for them I think the defense of the guard point will likely serve them better.
Yes. Press and hold instead of tapping it per swing. The utility is that you can swing through without getting stuck in the grinding animation if you find yourself needing to reposition. It's not always useful but it's nice to have the option rather than be forced to swing on bad hit zones if the monster moves on you.
another piece of into for the newbies when charging your sword, you get a skill called "minds eye" it prevents your weapon from bouncing off the monster, even if you overheat your sword by not loading phials. its nice to have incase you accidently forget to load phials, you generate too many phials at once or the monster has hard skin that would normally make your weapon bounce
i think this is like the most low key OP thing on the charge blade. I remember in world when i was playing different weapons in the beginning and went into yellow sharpness i would bounce most attacks. On CB you just forget theres weapon bouncing at all. Aaaand this also creates bad habits if you play for too long ;)
do not bother, when you charge your sword after loading phials you get more damage on your sword attacks and NATURAL MINDS EYE. and just sharpen! you can do it on seikret and it keeps your weapon damage high!
"I think that's a guard point" Every guard point, the shield breiefly flashes white. That doesn't happen after the new element discharge move. It's not a guard point.
wait, lol.... Has it always been that way that you can actually charge your sword without first having to regain phials after charging shield? If its always been that way, I guess I might have just made things a lot more complicated than they could have been....
Been that way since at least World. Don't actually need Sword Energy to charge the Sword. It's faster if you load Sword Energy into your phials and then go into the Sword Charge, but you could do it regardless so long as the shield was charged.
Do you get infinite phials with savage axe? I swear I've done discharges and looked up to see my phials still full. Pretty sure the only move that drains phials in savage axe is saed and maybe the aed follow up
Savage Axe halves phail usage, and Overcharge phials do the same This results is ED1 and ED2 having no cost, AED and followup(I think) has a hard coded minimum of half a phail SAED still eats everything but overcharged Phials have increased phial damage Given how easy it is to maintain savage axe, you basically have 10 AEDs of which five have 50%ish more damage on their extra ticks of damage Its about 20% per phial for an "overcharged" SAED
is SAED the TCS of Charge blade obsolete now? cause i say people speed run and no one even used it. man thats sad, now this weapon do not feel the same without hitting that True Discharge emptying everything u got for those BIG PP dmg covering the whole screen. Nothing is more satisfying except TCS from GS in the whole game.
I haven’t had this much fun with Chargeblade since I fell in love with it in 4U I’ve been playing with it now in the Test. And something about it feels like I’m playing it back then. Maybe it’s the not being forced into the SAED but doing the normal one and being able to use the new combo follow up that stays in axe mode. I might pick this up as my secondary weapon again. It doesn’t feel like a chore anymore IMO.
Am I the only one who think, that they definitely messed up with the sword scaling on this one? It's just comedically and disproportionally large for Charge Blade. Yes, average Charge Blade is bigger, than SnS, but that monstrosity is the size of the woman. Even shield looks small on contrast. Also it's dives under the ground and clips the floor in some animations. Boy-o-boy...
@ltlsWhatltIs in order to unleach an SAED you need to perfor an elemental discharge first, unless you perfect block an attack, but i want to go straight to SAED!! Like it used to be since MH4U when the CB first appeared!
Charge blade has got to be one of the clunkiest weapon in the game. So slow, so much down time between axe attacks, incredibly immobile and has one of the longest sheathe animations. I've been trying to get into CB since World but I find GS and SA just do everything CB does but faster and with more precision. CB shines best in solo play too because you can't reliably guardpoint counter with SAED when the monster has 3 other targets to potentially arggo to. And now they lock savage axe behind a paywall, like wtf???

I really loved that skill expression and combination of offense and defense. But right now PG's seem to offer both more reward with less risk.
Uptime
Guard points when used well have more uptime
Checking by to see if I missed anything as a CB user since MH4U .. have to say I find it interesting both this video and another I watched didn't really comment much about the changed regular discharge circle combo.
Now .. I only did one hunt so far (more time pls ahhhh) but I found it hard to properly hit the entire new combo.
It feels like the first part hits in a different direction than the second, good old familiar, part of the combo.
I wonder if it's a hint to frequently use focus mode or just a thing to get used to. hmmm
Great googily moogily the sword is ENORMOUS on the basic charge blade
Im a MH world CB main and im feeling like the CB is lacking in wilds. Switch Axe is soooo much more fun this time around
its funny bc i see peeps saying the exact opposite
I cancelled my preorder after playing the beta, im really sad. I think people will under after a few weeks of playing, or they fix things for the final release
is there such a thing as a Perfect Guard point that allows a savage axe trigger?
Is it me or is the super amp element discharge just not as beefy as it used to be in the world?
Let's GOOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥
@quelmaco9243 R2 + ○ to charge and once sword is in the shield quickly press and hold triangle button
@@WhatAGuy09 Thanks, I wonder if it's a little dfifferent with keyboard, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong; I had to release the keys before hitting LMB; ctrl+RMB, release, hold LMB.
And remember that some of the moves that put the shield in front of you have a guard point.
Chargeblade - High mobility, versatile, technical, opportunistic heavy hitter, with good defense and good reach
Truly amazing weapon
whats the diffrent between phials loaded only once normally and then loaded again overcharged?
More damage and longer charged shield
@hugo-pg5tv shieldcharge is longer when charged, Not while Just having them active. I mean having overloaded phials active.
And yes I know it increases damage, ofcourse. My question ist how much.
@leSmokySmoke 40%
@@hugo-pg5tv that Sounds Like a lot, do you have a source for this?
@@leSmokySmoke watched a vid that explain the changes for CB in wilds. SAED does 25% more damage too while overcharged.
19:44 NO THE LITTLE BABY
Is there any way to get to elemental discharge 2 without doing elemental discharge 1?
Should they add Guard point to the axe mode like MH rise.
Haven't tried the beta out yet so correct me if I'm wrong but I heard you can now guard point with just R2?
Yes. It’s called a perfect block, any weapon that can block can do it.
you forgot to teach about doing side hops while attacking.
also the shield trust tooo. not the seikret jump thrust no, the normal shield thrust
Curious, to see “wounds” do I need to be in focus mode?
They don't glow unless you're in focus mode, but they are visible on the monster. It's important to note that some monster parts will become available to focus strike after or during certain attacks even without a wound. An example would be ray dao's head after his mega bolt attack. It will glow red if you look at him in focus mode.
i think its still faster to charge phials via hold B -> Y+B -> hold B -> repeat until max
It probably is, but this isn’t a full guide yet, this is designed for newcomers while also showcasing some of the new stuff, and for them I think the defense of the guard point will likely serve them better.
@@rurikhan Very true, excuse my oversight please my lord Ironbreaker! And thank you for taking the time out of your to reply!
Am I the only Charge blade main that feels this is nerded to the ground after the beta?
Right there with you. I hate that savage axe is locked behind focus mode and nuetral saed is gone.
Cb and gl for 2k hrs
Ya I'm going to sleep till feb
i hate how the shield floats on the arm... was it always like that back in worlds?
Wait. You need to hold your inputs on Axe to actually trigger the ticks? 😵💫
Yes. Press and hold instead of tapping it per swing. The utility is that you can swing through without getting stuck in the grinding animation if you find yourself needing to reposition.
It's not always useful but it's nice to have the option rather than be forced to swing on bad hit zones if the monster moves on you.
cant you charge phails in savage axe anymore?
everytime you have a guard point the shield turns white it seems now.
I really dont like that you cant go to red shield with triangle + circle and cancel on mhgu😢
what I hate is that the icon above there for charge is SOOOO little. you cant even change it ingame
you can change the phials and icons to large in settings.
@ltlsWhatltIs there is no option tho. What you mean?
another piece of into for the newbies
when charging your sword, you get a skill called "minds eye" it prevents your weapon from bouncing off the monster, even if you overheat your sword by not loading phials.
its nice to have incase you accidently forget to load phials, you generate too many phials at once or the monster has hard skin that would normally make your weapon bounce
i think this is like the most low key OP thing on the charge blade. I remember in world when i was playing different weapons in the beginning and went into yellow sharpness i would bounce most attacks. On CB you just forget theres weapon bouncing at all. Aaaand this also creates bad habits if you play for too long ;)
Overcharging the sword also makes the sword so phial bursts, albeit at double the sharpness loss.
do not bother, when you charge your sword after loading phials you get more damage on your sword attacks and NATURAL MINDS EYE.
and just sharpen! you can do it on seikret and it keeps your weapon damage high!
Is this guy a hacker? He keeps talking about changing files and swapping them back and forth.
Get out
boooooo... *clicks like*
So can you still do saed with full charge?
You can still do saed off a guard point
does savage axe recharge phials in wilds?
Nop.
Pdf download it. Now I just need to remember: change shield, charge sword, SAED and change my uncle's name...
If your sword is overcharged and you walk into tall dry grass, it will catch fire
"I think that's a guard point"
Every guard point, the shield breiefly flashes white.
@@Roxlimn lol. thank you for clarification. Seems like I did infact make things harder on me than they needed to be! Now I feel al ittle stupid.😅
We don't have a training dummy we have Chatacabra
15:44 - definitely for sure the old muscle memory is messing me up lol
The lack of SNS gameplay on this godforsaken site is sufficating.... Save us Ruri........
3:12 😂😂😂
you also forgot to explain what guard points are
Do you get infinite phials with savage axe? I swear I've done discharges and looked up to see my phials still full. Pretty sure the only move that drains phials in savage axe is saed and maybe the aed follow up
Savage Axe halves phail usage, and Overcharge phials do the same
This results is ED1 and ED2 having no cost, AED and followup(I think) has a hard coded minimum of half a phail
SAED still eats everything but overcharged Phials have increased phial damage
Given how easy it is to maintain savage axe, you basically have 10 AEDs of which five have 50%ish more damage on their extra ticks of damage
Its about 20% per phial for an "overcharged" SAED
is SAED the TCS of Charge blade obsolete now? cause i say people speed run and no one even used it. man thats sad, now this weapon do not feel the same without hitting that True Discharge emptying everything u got for those BIG PP dmg covering the whole screen. Nothing is more satisfying except TCS from GS in the whole game.
chill, this is beta and we have barely any armor to mess with for skills. you have no idea what is to come for possibilites.
@@ltlsWhatltIs i doubt any armor skill gonna revert these changes to SAED.
@@jusacommentor3973not the changes but damage.
Played CB tonight. It feels slower than world.
I haven’t had this much fun with Chargeblade since I fell in love with it in 4U
I’ve been playing with it now in the Test. And something about it feels like I’m playing it back then. Maybe it’s the not being forced into the SAED but doing the normal one and being able to use the new combo follow up that stays in axe mode. I might pick this up as my secondary weapon again. It doesn’t feel like a chore anymore IMO.
Bob is not my uncle.
Is it me or the new SFX are really lackluster ?
Where’s the gun?
I don't like the fact that now we have to walk the extra mile to do the SAED 😒 That extra move is unnecesary and frustating.
you can do it from a block no? what extra steps?
@ltlsWhatltIs in order to unleach an SAED you need to perfor an elemental discharge first, unless you perfect block an attack, but i want to go straight to SAED!! Like it used to be since MH4U when the CB first appeared!
We DID get a proper training dummy… it’s name is Chatacabra
Charge blade has got to be one of the clunkiest weapon in the game. So slow, so much down time between axe attacks, incredibly immobile and has one of the longest sheathe animations. I've been trying to get into CB since World but I find GS and SA just do everything CB does but faster and with more precision. CB shines best in solo play too because you can't reliably guardpoint counter with SAED when the monster has 3 other targets to potentially arggo to.
And now they lock savage axe behind a paywall, like wtf???
