I honestly think they should add an offset attack in axe mode that lets you do an SAED follow up would actually make it way easier to hit SAED on monster
Focus mode is great for using fade slash + double charged slash. This now let's me dance around the monster by side stepping monster attacks and immediately building phials. You have to hold focus the entire time using this combo but make sure to not hit directional buttons when starting the double charged slash with the sword The savage axe has a variant where you use s directional input + triangle after any axe attack, this allows you to do a side step or backstep while attacking. Make sure to hold the attack button for extra damage. One important note, savage axe mode does not drain phials when doing triangle or circle axe moves. Just make sure you hold the button for extra damage. I actually dont destroy wounds with focus strike and try to save them until I need to renew savage axe mode. It really increases the uptime of savage axe mode and is one of charged blade's best dps options now. The reason why you build phials is to use SAED. I tend to use perfect guard against big monster attacks to then immediately retaliate with SAED. A bit of big risk, big reward playstyle
For someone who wasn't big fan of Savage Axe in the past, but loved chargeblade otherwise, does chargeblade still provide. I actually enjoyed the rhythm of regain-spend-regain-spend routine while having sword and shield mode activel relatively often for defensive purposes and not spending ton of damage in axe mode. Also do overcharged phials do anything for SAED or are they just for Savage axe. I know we lost the neutral SAED (much to my disappointment same with losing IGs aerial), but it seems like you can still guardpoint or get a 4 point SAED with one wasted for AED
Hands down my favorite weapon in the game. There are so many style points in this weapon it’s difficult to have one main combo. Any excuse I have to perform a follow-up after an AED I’m doing it. It’s so satisfying to hit🤤
Jesus. I was worried CB would be nerfed without being able to go straight into SAED, but Savage axe is not only powerful as hell, it looked like it was breaking wounds without using the focus strike!
Saed is still really powerful, overcharged phials increase the phial damage significantly on top of you having the ability to aim it incredibly well. You also get immediate access to it following a guard point or perfect block, just wait until we get access to focus and artillery in the full game.

@@NYC_Goody The first few frames of any time you guard will be your perfect guard window. All guard points are just built-in guarding and all of its frames are within the perfect guard window.
