OG here as well. I was just lamenting that I never got to try the online hub area, but I've seen that it can still be accessed with some know-how. I know it would be a sluggish experience, but I would love to check out a piece of the past that I missed out on.
I started with Monster Hunter Freedom. Had no internet back than and had to solo Freedom, Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite on my psp. It was an absolute nightmare that took me years to accomplish but I still had an absolute blast. It's amazing how much more polished and bombastic the new games are though. We've come a long way from getting hip checked to death by Plesioth from 500 miles away.
playing it on my ps5 makes me more hopeful that my PC can handle it dynamic resolution is kicking in HARD at times, so my pc being similar to the specs should perform a bit better wizh optimized settings
@@TheMysterySpeaker they are lower than worlds at the time world released. (world recommended hardware was a high end gpu that released just 6 months before worlds PC release) their choice of recommended gpus they listed is a bit weird. they could have phrased it a bit more clearly. but it boils down to 8GB VRAM 270GB/s or more VRAM bandwidth 1st Gen RT Cores no matter the vendor and atleast 10 ish TFLOP of theoretical FP32 Performance GPUs that fulfill those criteria for the recommended Hardware are Nvidia: 2070 Super upwards in that gens product stack, 3060 and upwards in that gens product stack, 4060 and upwards in that gens product stack AMD: RX6700XT and up in that gens product stack, RX 7600 and up in that gens product stack Intel: Intel Arc A750 or A770 the latter even has a 16 GB Version with close to 600GB/s bandwidth (576GB/s to be precise) I know that rtx 4060 and RX7600XT are / also have a 16GB Version but their memory bandwidth remains the same less than 300GB/s as before. I hope that helped. PS: World has only 3 Graphics presets and targeted the 3rd or highest preset at 1080p30fps in their recommended section. Wilds aims with this kind of hardware for 1080p medium 40fps (60fps with frameinterpolations using FSR in combination with VSYNC it only 1.5x FPS not doubles, frame interpolation that doubles fps doesnt use standard implementations of either vendors technologies and are not running with vsync which is the only mandatory presentmode in both Vulkan, DirectX and OpenGL Drivers and Applications. This is going to be Direct X title on PC (sadly, i really wished they would go for Vulkan))
11:24 they are the dithering patterns used to render transparency on opaque objects in games. The camera is inside one of the monsters so those artifacts are actually that monster having only some of its pixels rendered. It is an extremely common technique because rendering true transparency is super expensive in comparison to opaque. Dithering produces a good enough transparent effect that for things like camera cutouts etc its always used.
I'm surprised he doesn't know some of the basics like this, with how long he's been doing this. And yet he's very critical on things he doesn't understand anyways.
@@HollowBagelof course he doesn’t that would require a lot more effort, he is a talking head TH-camr, he is all about opinions, maybe a bit of news, not knowledge.
Unpopular opinion, But I absolutely LOVED MHWorld's map, I know the convenience of having a 3D map where you can know where everything is, but World's map had a certain feel to it
I strongly disagree that this game is not an evolution of monster hunter. Saying that I feel like implies this game is just more iterative over monster hunter world, which is ridiculous considering how much they’ve changed about the ecology and world systems.
Well he didnt play world or rise for hundreds/thousands of hours right? Ppl with that much mileage will see how much different wild is compared to before.
Even at a surface level it looks pretty different. Core mechanics & look of World with a bit of nice things from Rise. World was already a near perfect game, a bit of refinement is only a plus.
I think he's referring to the type of evolution that was the 4th gen to 5th which was a massive overhaul but World to Wilds isn't as massive of a leap when compared to the previous but I agree Wilds is a significant improvement to World especially in World design
I love what the logging back in looks like with the little cutscene starting at the bottom of a cup and moving to show it being picked up by our hunter.
I feel like the weapons have been improved pretty well. They took what worked in both world and rise and everything just feels good. Having the option for the party to vote to skip the timer at the end of the hunt is great as well. The character creator was great I'm still conflicted on the palicoes having actual voices or swapping them to the old school meows. The game just feels good to play. It's nice to see tons of players at camp without having to go to a hub. Overall there's just a vast majority of improvements and it makes for a more fun experience.
Im gonna play with palico voices because it has always bugging me for a loooong long time, how on earth people there understand the meows as complete sentences 😂. Ill switch back to meows if it gets annoying though
@@SatnanatNot really a nerf. The removal of aerial did nothing; the REAL issue is the button mapping and overall damage numbers needing a slight bump up. But it’s overall a good weapon
6:35 If you make a weakness on their back you’ll have to target it when you topple them. Not really a design flaw. Also monsters have some inherent weakpoints after certain attacks. Rey Dau’s head becomes a weak point for a few seconds after he does his charged railgun attacks, after balahara shoots its big sludge attack it’s mouth becomes a weak point.
@ chatacabra has one too. He has a big attack where he slams and afterwards he sits there with his tongue out for a couple seconds and his tongue becomes a weak point while he’s like that
Picked up Monster Hunter World recently. The game feels extremely polished, content rich, and every system just works so well together. There is so much variety and everything feels surprisingly well balanced. All the weapons felt unique and did not feel like anything else.
Monster Hunter world is amazing, I bought a ps5 recently and all I have done is played monster Hunter world on it witch I could have just done on my ps4, it’s aged like fine wine.
@@marLamaDeo people say that a lot, but when you actually play it, it's not really clunky, the slow movement makes sense and very immersive. try it out when it goes on sale again for $20 with both base game and iceborne.
From what I've seen from most Beta player. They pretty much ran at 60 fps with a few frame drops (this is from dedicated MHW community group from my country btw)
The muscle memory thing Luke is bringing to us actually so real. Playing Metaphor ReFantazio after hundreds of hours of Persona 5 Royal and 3 Reload, not pressing the same button to save, auto heal etc, is so strange
Being able to bring two weapons along is actually huge. Most players probably will do the one range one melee but I’ve been using a hammer/hunting horn loadout and it feels absolutely amazing. Now you don’t need an extra player if you want those extra buffs.
They always do a demo/beta about 6-3 months before release. All Monster hunters function relatively the same and I never want that to change, its perfect imo.
Saying the old maps were unusable is pretty baffling to me. It's a map, bro. Like, in younger than you and I wanna make fun of you for being a GPS baby
I dont like the changes to IG. Theyve swapped buttons for the one aerial attack we get. And the ground combos feel weird to me. Maybe i just need to get used to it but i prefer past IG. It felt more impactful.
IG changes make no sense to me yet. If you're taking away the bounce you gotta add another mechanic to make up for it. IG looks like dual blades now 👎🏾
I haven't touched it yet but does the IG aerial gameplay play like Rise? Like with a certain style you can just stab in the air, instead of the classic helicopter spin?
Players historically DO NOT want a drastic change to the combat. We saw how that went with wire bugs, and to a lesser extent with how disruptive clutch claw was. Monster Hunter combat is already so complex and deep that all you really need are new monsters and some moveset updates to release a new game, in order for the fans to be happy.
Only old heads complained about new mechanics. The clutch claw was fun to me and so were wire bugs but now that I'm deep in I no longer like change... I just stop being Grumpy and I'm over it... except for the IG changes I'm still old and Grumpy there
Exactly crutch claw was braindead strong. Wallbang a monster 2-3 times for a free topple and fast enrage to keep agitator constantly proc'd for even higher damage. Force tenderizing to get the most out of your weapon or in some cases need to be tenderized 24/7 ex Alatreon, Safijiiva, Kulve, and Fatalis. Ruined worlds flow the base slinger was fantastic but the claw was terrible. Wirebugs in general are just poorly balanced theyre WAAAAAAAY too strong. I didn't mind switch scrolls as those add more depth to each of the weapons while not disrupting the flow of combat vs me out speeding a monster cause I can just swing to reposition instantly, hyper armor through attacks, or out right counter nearly every single move. Rise wouldve been better with the GU arts system or just scrolls.
I tried it earlier. Did anyone else have a problem with the NPC volume extremely low maybe it was a setting on my end but just curious. It was only noticeable while in the village
@@DocterBumSki dude I played 3 cod betas and none of them had such graphical issues even on xbox one. peformance mode actually seems to look worse than when I used to play on xbox one.
@@DocterBumSki It's also four months to release. Any optimization at this point will be minor; the main concern for the beta is stress testing network loads between regions
Two weapons is pretty great to me. I usually play Lance so being able to switch to something faster or ranged when I don't need to block would be great.
In the settings menu, you can turn Auto-Navigate off for the Seikret and move manually. You can still choose to auto-path to designated spots, such as the monster even with the off setting. When you boot up the game, the feature will always be set to "on."
Shit is crazy man, I started with world, played previous titles a bit here and there. And now I’m going into my third full playthrough in the franchise ……time flies man…..time flies
It’s really fun to use one weapon, call the bird, switch real fast, then jump off the bird and attack in the air. I’ve been chaining that and it feels sooooo nice. With every weapon.
from the outsider perspective wilds just seems like another monster hunter game that is now kinda open world and a bit more accessible so it's a perfect starting point for new players from the insider perspective aka a monster hunter fan, this game is way different than any monster hunter game before it it's not even close the best example i can give (as much as i hate this comparison) is dark souls 3 and elden ring, it's the same situation that happened with monster hunter world and monster hunter wilds
this game has unlimited budget. the seamless transition from gameplay to cutscene and vice versa, title screen, the tent angles, tent palicos having helmet flashlights when it's dark, cooking animations that actually uses the chosen ingredients, and all the little things that make this game alive. man Ryozo really cooked with this one.
Honestly Luke i thought your opinions would have been wild for some reason mainly because i have not seen any of your videos which woulda been fine but i gotta say really nice explanation and loved the similar experience we had like the beta screen thank you. keep up the nice videos i will for sure be on the lookout for more from you.
Tried the beta as well, and good lord did it play well. Lance, Gunlance and Insect Glaive all felt like incredible iterations on the World versions of those weapons, and Bow was just insane. SnS, Charge Blade and Greatsword meanwhile felt comparitively lacking, with Switch Axe and H/LBG both feeling middle-of-the-ground, but still improvements over World. Haven't yet bothered with Hammer, Dual Blades or HH, but I can confirm that the one time a Longsword main jumped into my quest, I was desperately missing my Flinch Free deco from World and Rise. The way quests now work is also probably really going to be eating up my gametime, in the best way. Just non-stop hunting, with food and gathering breaks in between. Glorious. Overall, weapons generally felt just a tad slower than in World, but all weapons also felt more mobile than in World, so despite feeling a little slower for every attack, the overall flow of combat felt better than it did in World. TLDR: Had a blast. Prolly not going to be playing it too much because it'll make it that much more painful to have to go back to World, and leave the glory of the Wilds behind for another three months.
@@thespiandragon6902 Glad to hear it! The hammer unfortunately didn't really connect with me when I tried it, but between the two lances, insect glaive and all three ranged weapons, I'm spoiled for choice on which two weapons to prioritize anyway, lol.
@@johnwhitfield3547 Lil bit. Compared to basically all the other weapons I've tried, it also feels unreasonably static. Sure you have the slide attack, but you're really forced to stay in place and vulnerable if you want to get your moves and self-buffs off. Compare and contrast Gunlance, where the explosive hops make you almost as mobile as freaking Dual Blades, Lance, where your hops are basically caked into every combo as a combination of block and repositioning, even if you usually don't even need it because you now shieldbash when blocking with even basic timing. Insect Glaive, where some of your heaviest hitting moves can be charged up while running. Switch Axe, where you have a variety of repositioning moves available at almost any time. And ultimately, Charge Blade just doesn't really feel like it flows well to me, in comparison to these other weapons I've tried that pair offense, defense, mobility and damage seemingly much more holistically. Could just be me of course. Took a bit to discover the HBG for instance, had a short-range explosive counter mode you could only use by turning on special ammo and holding triangle to charge it, which elevated the entire tool to a new level of enjoyment. Or the Insect Glaive's powder tornado, and how easily it could be followed up with a Woundbreaking strike to immediately replenish two dusts. Surely Charge Blade also has some change that really binds the whole thing together like that?
I'm really enjoying the greatsword. I love the focus mode. Just hitting every TCS under the sun is very satisfying. Some might say it's a skill issue, but hey, I like it.
Honestly, I was VERY disappointed and appalled by the visual fidelity on performance mode. Not only does it LOOK worse than MHW (a game that came out 6y ago), it PERFORMS worse as well. It would be one thing if the visual fidelity was a significant upgrade and it performed a little worse but this ain't it. Hopefully this is a beta issue and they work out the optimization but if it launches like this I won't be spending 110$ Canadian on it...too many other games out there to justify it.
I'm gonna get it because I have thousands of hours in World and Rise but image quality is absolutely worse than World, which runs 1800p 60 fps with better texture quality on PS5. This performance mode looks 720p...
It might be good to notice this likely the same build they allowed people to play in August during the summer game fest. The visuals looked so much better in the gameplay of the scarlet forest they showed later at TGS. I really wouldn’t be worried about it.
Like what? What other games? And dude, you’re playing a beta. Look at the difference between gamescom demo and now. Optimization is the final stage of game development because they do it in LAN.
Unfortunately, the performance doesn't feel great, but we're so far off launch, I hope they partner with amd for getting the performance mode looking better. Playing with an oled, hdr 240 hz monitor, it looks so beautiful, but performance mode looks worse than butter slathered on the lens.
@@jamesburke9680 lmao no it's the same cpu as in the ps5 so it's still going to be insanely cpu bottlenecked so they will still have to destroy the resolution for 60 fps LOL
@@jamesburke9680Why would anyone buy a ps5 pro? The ps5 has, like, maybe 5 games for it, everything else is from the ps4 library. Why would someone spend 700 dollars for a console that'll only run one game better? At that point, just get a pc, you can get a really good rig that's better than the ps5 if you go deal hunting. (Plus plus, who wants to spend 200 plus dollars a year just to play online?)
I was never able to get into Monster Hunter, the combat always felt like the monster and i were in separate realities just attacking at the same time, except for when our model bubbles hit each other and we bounced off as if we were on ice. You can even see this in the video where the attack completely misses the monsters model, but still counts as a hit because it was within some invisible ring.
As someone who grew up with Monster Hunter to me it does feel like a really big update to the formula, in a good way tho the original purpose of the franchise was to be a slow methodical hunting simulator and even tho the games have been getting faster and flashier Wilds felt as slow as the older games and with the fact that you go out to track down the monster and fight it felt like its what monster hunter looked like in my head when i was a kid
12:15 you said when I booted it up I was like ohh is there performance mods but no that's just how the game runs... but there IS performance modes in the settings
Since they took away the helicopter iv switched to longsword and switch axe...the longsword really satisfying very smooth and the switch axe feels really good the beta is incredible and I can't wait for the release to bad we couldn't play beta offline until full release
Is it just me, or do the animations (especially running/parkour) feel SO silky smooth? Honestly, wishing for performance to improve, everything else is literally perfect. I love where Capcom is going with MHW.
ik you say its not a revolution but i think the new big things that they are going for cant simply be fully felt until you get the full game, the full map, etc. if you only get a slice where you hunt tutorial monsters only in the opening map in a game where the big big deal is that the maps are interconnected and more expansive then its not going to feel as revolutionary.
10:30 I agree the storms come and go far too quickly, however if they add stuff like sandstorms or blizzards that quick transition will work for those, they could do tiers of storm, like you have a thunderstorm and that slowly rolls in or you could get it with what's basically a typhoon and that hits hard and fast. Really looking forward to this game.
to be fair, in real life, sandstorms are fast and sneak up on ya pretty quickly. It'll start with what seems to be a dark cloud just past where your eyes can see, and then minutes later you're in the middle of a super heated sandstorm, unable to see anything.
What I find really irritating and kind of sad is that most attacks from the monster will no longer interrupt your attacks. Feels like yet another step to make it easier and less frustrating, which is exactly the opposite of what they should be going for, but also makes it kind of hard to notice when attacks actually hit you. Also, all the warnings and indicators of incoming heavy attacks are super annoying and kind of patronizing, I'm not dumb, I can see that my health is low, and that another hit will probably kill me.
I wouldn’t say it’s a revolution but I’d say they made it more seamless and more quality of life. Being it’s new to me I’m still confused with everything on screen and grabbing items on Sekriet but overall I’m loving it. I use Ls and being able to hold R2 to change up moveset is amazing
Everything on PS5 is upscaled so, obviously it isnt gonna look that good. Btw the Seikret options are changeable as well, just look for the auto move and make the Seikret movement manual as well.
In terms of UI and the menus, I see no reason why they felt the need to move away from how World did it. There’s a reason why World was so beloved. I doubt deep rooted changes like that will happen, and mostly everything will be devoted to performance optimization, and that’s fine. But I think there’s a less than a handful of changes they made that I would just revert to how World did it. Great Concepts overall
I've played about 11 hours, i love it. They had me sold on it already, i played a lot of rise and world and i can't wait for the full version. Im curious how much skills like quick sheath and evade extender matter but as of now im very happy
I tested on a 5800X3D/6950XT both blocked and ran all high 1440 NATIVE , and it ran great. Not one problem and great fps. I know people are having performance issues, which I was slightly expecting but no ran like a top. Great game. It was fun and I can't wait for the full release.
I tend to main multiple weapons (A few hundred hunts in each) so I'm super hyped about being able to use two main weapons at the same time. I'm thinking of bringing my Hunting Horn and Bow.
It feels like I'm not really hitting the monster but swinging at air I kno this is a beta but it feels weird to me and looks like I'm not hitting anything.
About the weird checkerboarding, I think it might have been me on your live channel about Unknown 9 which had this problem a lot. I'm not sure how Capcom did it exactly in their case since they use their own engine (probably same technique though) but in Unreals case it might be Dithered masked material to fake softer transitions while not using full on translucent materials which allow soft transparency but they are heavy and often also limited in what they can do with reflections, fogging etc.... pain the butt at times. So in this scene you showed they fade out the surroundings or the monster that is blocking the camera using this dithering effect before it would be completely gone so it's not just suddenly popping out of existence. It's also at times used to fade between Mesh LODs to prevent obvious popping in the level geometry quality at a distance. I hope it makes sense xD I tend to hop between stuff while explaining.
It actually feels a lot more fluid with movement and attacks than MHW. And the performance is excellent. Im running a Ryzen 5700x3d, RTX 4070 super, 32 gb 3200mhz ddr RAM, 1440p maxed ultra with DLAA, over 130 fps consistently with frame gen
I feel like a crazy person because I've loved every single entry in the Monster Hunter series and this feels like a let down? I feel very "meh" on this after the beta. Im not sure I'm gonna buy this one
@@brappsniffs3924 I'm not burnt out. It's like, I soloed Rey Dau and felt very meh on it. Nothing felt good. Then I booted up 3U on my 3DS and it still gave me every ounce of joy it's always given me Then I played some GU and had a blast. It's wilds, not burnout
@@thatoneguy1741 Actually, I've been hearing alot of people have the same sentiment. I'm reserving final judgment until after we get a proper demo, but this one seems to not be grabbing a lot of series veterans
And also settings to make the mount less automatic etc. I feel like he should fiddle with it a few more before laying down his opinions, I know he mentioned having played it for about three hours but still, when you have over 500k subs there's a certain responsibility regarding the information you pass for your audience, he could find that out after a few minutes of searching like I did.
Dude... You should ESPECIALLY be using focus mode with the long sword. Getting a hit in focus mode on a wound with long sword fills your spirit meter to red
for the weapon switching, i'm currently thinking about playing a sleep sns/ds and a gunlance and you already know exactly why. when i put the monster to sleep, i change to my gunlance, place some bomb, wywern fire and voila, a nice rotisserie monster.
monhun is always iterative in the way of improving the seamlessness and qol of the formula, so on this scale it is about as big as it gets for them in terms of changes from them. Very excited.
God, i am so hyped for this game. I just hope my new world friends will come back to the series to play. They abandoned the game shortly after completing base world.
Okay...of what I could play of the Wilds Beta I really like it. My big, huge, very awful issue is that my PC cannot handle it. I mean on my page I uploaded a video of gameplay from the Beta and you can see my PC specs aren't up to snuff. Not by a long shot. It might be a while before I can play the full game because I have to save up for a new computer that can handle it. Of course I have been ruminating doing some Live content to fund raise via my PayPal because I'm not monetized.
Regarding UI and menus, I feel like it's a big upgrade compared to Rise and World. The QoL features are awesome to see (especially UI scaling which is something I desperately needed in World) and overall most things work as I hope they did. The gameplay is smooth as always and the new focus mechanic is an absolute godsend! I can't remember how many times I have missed attacks in World, and now with the longsword i can hit precision attacks much easier. My main issue (on Steam) is with textures, for some reason no matter how high I put my settings the textures just didn't load properly for me and were scaled down. Some monsters were just triangles (which did get fixed after a driver update) and some were low in detail even after setting meshes to high.
Happy to hear the base layer mechanics are the same as that’s what I wanted. Happy for an evolution of MH though in a calculated way. Capcom seem to do a new revolution of a game (world), an experimental game (rise) and then an evolved refined version of the previous revolution (wilds). With the return of more realistic graphics which I preferred I just am hoping the PC version is optimised well for this even if the specs are a bit hefty.
The only thing that worries me is the performance. My setup is a rtx3060 and a r5 5600x. In the beta, without any upscaling and at 1440p, the game manages to squeeze out around 25-30fps. At 1080p, it's more about 30fps but stable. I tried using the dlss but honestly it's very unoptimized at the moment, the performance is indeed a little better (40 stable fps) but the decrease in visual quality is too noticeable for my taste. I am not willing to upgrade my gpu at the moment, so unfortunately if this aspect isn't addressed in these months, I'll have to sadly skip this game, hoping that in the future I can afford a better rig, and the game will have also become cheaper. What I find sad is that most modern games are balancing their performances around the highest performing GPUs instead of the more commonly used by the players, and they are also relying far too much on upscaling technologies instead of working on the native resolution of the game. And Capcom unfortunately isn't exempt from this issue.
@@User1273- but that same person ain’t gonna review Monster Hunter and their Monster Hunter / really hyped up reviews are generally fine. ER, GOW, MHW+ Iceborne and etc all those reviews are fine.
Dragon age may still be a 9 to some. If others are giving it their personal GOTY then who’s to say the game isn’t subjectively a 9/10, things can be polarising. Certainly not the first time for the dragon age series. Looking at DA2 and DAI. Even some new fans revisiting origins dislike it.
I am disgusted that Iceborne only got a 9, cant believe it wasnt a 10 for journalists. Actually I am even more disgusted when I realize MH never got praised for doubling or even tripling the content and quality with the expansions. MH Freedom Unite deserved more as a legit 300 hour expansion in 2008 And then MH 4 Ultimate never was praised either This is why the gaming industry is the way it is...
Excited to play it on PC tomorrow. I loved MHW more than rise. Excited to see what they bring back in the full game since we saw some monsters that we haven't seen since 4th Gen.
Ya know, I think I’m going to go play MH World right now. I’ve been debating playing Dragon Age Veilguard and just can’t decide. The think MH World would be a better use of my time. I’ll be playing World and Wilds on PC
The 2 weapon mechanic is NEVER going to be used to full effect. As far as I know armor doesn't swap so the Hunting Horn and Gunlance that I like... What am I gonna do with Artillery and Guard as well as Horn Maestro for the opposite weapon?

11:24 they are the dithering patterns used to render transparency on opaque objects in games. The camera is inside one of the monsters so those artifacts are actually that monster having only some of its pixels rendered. It is an extremely common technique because rendering true transparency is super expensive in comparison to opaque. Dithering produces a good enough transparent effect that for things like camera cutouts etc its always used.

Worlds map was perfect
I strongly disagree that this game is not an evolution of monster hunter. Saying that I feel like implies this game is just more iterative over monster hunter world, which is ridiculous considering how much they’ve changed about the ecology and world systems.
It 100% is a evolution
I came here to say this exact thing. The structure and openness of the open world ALONE is enough to call it a massive reimagining. In my opinion.
Devs: “What’s our budget”?
Capcom: “Yes”.
SnS getting Spinning Reaper was the biggest YES for me. Kinda sad that PR got nerfed, but consider how broken it is in IB.
Im gonna play with palico voices because it has always bugging me for a loooong long time, how on earth people there understand the meows as complete sentences 😂. Ill switch back to meows if it gets annoying though

6:35 If you make a weakness on their back you’ll have to target it when you topple them. Not really a design flaw. Also monsters have some inherent weakpoints after certain attacks. I knew the Rey Dau one but i didn't know Balahara had that
@ chatacabra has one too. He has a big attack where he slams and afterwards he sits there with his tongue out for a couple seconds and his tongue becomes a weak point while he’s like that

Try chargeblade. Being able to swap between elemental vials and impact will be massive!
They always do a demo/beta about 6-3 months before release. All Monster hunters function relatively the same and I never want that to change, its perfect imo.

I just stop being Grumpy and I'm over it... except for the IG changes I'm still old and Grumpy there
Wire bugs were amazing.

Rise wouldve been better with the GU arts system or just scrolls.

from the outsider perspective wilds just seems like another monster hunter game that is now kinda open world and a bit more accessible so it's a perfect starting point for new players
from the insider perspective aka a monster hunter fan, this game is way different than any monster hunter game before it it's not even close
the best example i can give (as much as i hate this comparison) is dark souls 3 and elden ring, it's the same situation that happened with monster hunter world and monster hunter wilds
this game has unlimited budget. the seamless transition from gameplay to cutscene and vice versa, title screen, the tent angles, tent palicos having helmet flashlights when it's dark, cooking animations that actually uses the chosen ingredients, and all the little things that make this game alive. man Ryozo really cooked with this one.

Yeah I remember the charge blade used to have a real ooomph to it's elemental axe attack. This version feels kinda anaemic
I'm not a hammer main, I occasionally play around with it, but I did pick it up in the beta and I really enjoyed using it!

@@johnwhitfield3547 Lil bit.
Compared to basically all the other weapons I've tried, it also feels unreasonably static. Sure you have the slide attack, but you're really forced to stay in place and vulnerable if you want to get your moves and self-buffs off.
Compare and contrast Gunlance, where the explosive hops make you almost as mobile as freaking Dual Blades,
Lance, where your hops are basically caked into every combo as a combination of block and repositioning, even if you usually don't even need it because you now shieldbash when blocking with even basic timing.
You can turn off the auto pathing of your mount in options and set it to different controls including a fully manual mode.
For auto walk mount, after you turn it to manual in options every time you call it, press down arrow on to stop auto_path even with the option off

After 11 hours in this beta, I'm super pumped. Also Luke, you can turn on manual controls for the Seikret so it doesn't auto run.
11:30 thats cuz the camera is inside the monster behind the character...

Is it just me, or do the animations (especially running/parkour) feel SO silky smooth? Honestly, wishing for performance to improve, everything else is literally perfect. I love where Capcom is going with MHW.
Love monster hunter so glad there was an open beta will definitely be getting this one
ik you say its not a revolution but i think the new big things that they are going for cant simply be fully felt until you get the full game, the full map, etc. if you only get a slice where you hunt tutorial monsters only in the opening map in a game where the big big deal is that the maps are interconnected and more expansive then its not going to feel as revolutionary.
The biggest different is the weapons dont have the chunky feel from world, and I really hope that's fixed. Switxh axe doesnt feel great right now
In terms of UI and the menus, I see no reason why they felt the need to move away from how World did it. There’s a reason why World was so beloved.
I doubt deep rooted changes like that will happen, and mostly everything will be devoted to performance optimization, and that’s fine. But I think there’s a less than a handful of changes they made that I would just revert to how World did it.
Great Concepts overall

Bow as secondary weapon type can reach those hard to reach focus points btw

Everybody is malding about Dragon Age and I just wanna see some Monster Hunter Wilds.
Thing about the menus, its always been that way, so no surprise you would have issues with it
After playing the open beta this game is a definite pre-order
And Capcom unfortunately isn't exempt from this issue.
guys i want you to imagine.. imagine ign giving this game a 7 out of 10.. dragon age got a 9 btw
Remember, Ign gave dustborne a 7
IGN gave World a 9.5/10 and Iceborne a 9. Y’all really care about them huh?
MH Freedom Unite deserved more as a legit 300 hour expansion in 2008
And then MH 4 Ultimate never was praised either
This is why the gaming industry is the way it is...
