If you haven't tried a different towel, you are missing out. The Grant's Towel is super grabby on one side and doesn't do a good job of drying on the other side. You'll see a big difference if you try using a good twist loop towel.
Thanks for all the great info. just got back from Harbor Freight got the 110 and 210 polishers also the gold leather cleaner land the Meguiars carwash along with the Grant's mirr and drying towel. I drive a 2015 Equus and it had water stains I need to get out.
I was recently at HF looking for something else and I was really surprised at the great selection of detailing supplies they had. They get a bad rap for being “cheap” but affordable pricing doesn’t equate to being cheap. Thanks for the video
Can't hardly wait till you review the HF foam cannon. It is now warm enough here in Detroit so I set up my Active and ordered the Black Max ariving Wednesday 😎. Used the MTM foam cannon that I bought from you online with the Chemical Guys Sticky Snowball and it is amazing. Also tried the Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray today diluted 50/50 and it was great too. Thanks for all you do for the community. Your recommendations are right on
Thank u Josh, great video & very considerate of u to TAKE the time to visit/film products for the average guy! Ppl want to take good care of their vehicles but just dont have a ton of money. 👍
Great vid! Like you mentioned, have been pretty surprised with the curation of chemical supplies they carry…not a 30’ wall of chemicals but majority of the key products needed to do a car.
Bauer polishers are great. That da is one of the more powerful ones I’ve ever used. Be careful buying the long throw polisher. Wore down the backing plate and haven’t been able to find a proper replacement that will fit
Try Mckee's foam cannon. Has brass fittings, adjustable foam output. The mechanism is all brass comes with a quick connector to hook up to your spray nosel on hose pipe. Does come with a spray nosel. Comes with a parts diagram so you can order parts.. New to the detailing world. Thanks for your videos.
Josh, in addition to testing the HF foam cannon, they also make a new wand adapter for the Portland Pressure Washer. Would be awesome to watch a review with the wand and the new foam cannon. I haven’t found a review on their wand yet; so your video would likely be the first. Thanks for the great videos brother!
The last time I was there three years ago, they only had the large bottles of Meguiar's, some pads and their D/A. The Meguiar's Hot Shot tire dressing is terrible, slings. Meguiar's is now owned by 3M.
What is your take on Turtle Wax hybrid solutions ceramic spray? I use it and absolutely LOVE it and how easy it is to apply and buff out… I tried the equivalent in Maguires but didn’t care for it as well… love the videos!! Keep up the great work 👍
I absolutely love detailing cars. I’m no pro by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m loving your channel. I keep getting better, although, windows. I may as well use my hands to clean. Always a wreck.
So cool when you located in San Diego and they You tuber recommends a shop in San Diego. I know Car Glo they have great products definitely go buy from them
Love your helpful videos but noticed that you give Meguiars quite a bit of airtime. Felt that I had to share my experiences with those products. Been using Meguiars since I was 16, (now 66 years old) and have loved them. Detail many vehicles mostly cars, trucks, but also many campers/rvs. In the past 2 years I have had several of Meguiars products go "bad" with storage. Both professional line and normal retail walmart stuff. Many of them change to a watery substance with "sludge" in the bottom. Talked to Meguiars customer service and get very different answers to my concerns/complaints. One rep states that their products have a definite shelf life. Was not able to tell me what that exact shelf life is, but a shelf life just the same. Rep # 2 tells me that he personally has products that are 10 years old, and are still good. But no matter their experiences I've stopped with those products. By the way, I used both their standard auto products as well as their boat/rv line of products. Love and appreciate your videos, this is just a heads up with my experience and why I no longer use Meguiars. By the way.....all products stored in a temp controlled garage. Now use only Jax Wax products and love them !
My friend works for Harbor Freight & is in charge of what detailing supplies in all the stores. He’s a former Meguires executive. Harbor Freight will be the go to detail supply store in every town soon to come
Great Video!! The One Product I Would Not Use Again is The Meguiars Hot rims Wheel and tire Cleaner, That Stuff is Junk it Will Eat up The Clear Coat On OEM Wheels and Really discolor Them. It's The One in The Purple Bottle. And It Has The Worst Smell Ever. 😯
I like the Grants XL drying towel a lot. For that price i have 4 of them. The Rag Company Liquid8r is my favorite but quite costly. The chemical guys fatty dries great but dont drop it - i did and cannot get the crap from the floor out of it. Not even vacuum or wash gets the crap out. Anothet good one is the Grants detailing seat…which is almost identicial to the new one from Griot’s garage - the main difference is the seat doesnt separate with its own set of mini wheels. But its a great deal at $59 bs $135 for the Griot’s
I believe Markus used to work as a product rep/developer for meguiars and left to work for Harbor freight. I think that has some impact on the uptick in the expanded megs line up
@@imjoshv Guilty as charged :) Great video and awesome insights - thank you for sharing it! I also loved hearing how much you liked the M110 and M210 - those were some of my babies that I created in my time at Meguiar's! My go-to combo for sensitive paints for sure. -MK
Another awesome video! Going to stop by there and get some more of their stuff. I use their hose splitter and 1 gallon pump sprayer. For the difference in price the Maxshine polisher is twice the machine way better than the Bauer
You forgot their steamer. They have a nice little steamer that is great for detailing the interior. It's like $124 and you can get it on sale from time to time for $99. I use it on everything.
What would you suggest for an air compressor for mobile. You did not list that. ? I like you give a bunch of different options for what you're trying to achieve. Keep up the great work!.,👍
Honestly harbor freight is way better than they used to be and for me a lot ot tools and what not I prefer to get there over the tool truck for the most part
Your store in nicely laid out. Mine in my town here to the east of Mesa is not taken care of as the snowbird (winter visitors) mess things us like little kids being left along at a buffet or in the toy dept. Nitrile gloves if you have "man size" hands do not buy them here. They recently added XXL size, and I could barely get them past my wrists.
If you do go with a Bauer polisher, you definitely want to swap out the factory grease and put in red n tacky or white lithium. I also swap down to a 5 inch plate. Lots of how tos on TH-cam about it.
If I was going to buy Meguires compound and polish it would be both the Ultimate Compound and then the Ultimate Polish. It works five times better than their stuff in the tan bottles. I mostly use all 3D 500xtra cut or 510rubbing compound, then 3D 520 finish. Sometimes Sonax cutmax and profile line finish they are great too. If you want the best bang for your buck that you can get at any HF or Walmart though it's Meguires Ultimate line. Especially that Ultimate Polish even does well on jet black and triple black painted cars
Thanks for sharing all your tips. I went to harbor freight today of course out of stock on what I wanted and also when they are offering something free with purchase which is very rare since the pandemic the store I go to want have the item in stock they are offering a free bucket this weekend which is a nice size . So stop by Walmart and they had a pkg of 30 microfiber towels for $9.97 in the car detailing area so I pick up a pkg not sure how good they are but I can always use them around the house. Cost co is quite a trip from me so if these do not work out I will try Costco the next time I go. I really appreciate your content not sure but do have a video on a black I need to shine up to make it look shiny again I still wondering on the clay bar if that would be good to try on it . Thanks for sharing
I bought Harbor Freights machine polisher and I've had no issues with it, I paid $110 after taxes, my next purchase will be a floor jack for undercarriage cleaning and detail work.
ive seen those at our auto parts store i been using the chemical guys v series the one that does polish and swirl removal for lite jobs and it works good but hard to wipe off if you dont do enough passes.
So at our harbor freight they do carry the Meguiars professional clay bars and the little white ones. Yes their pads are just okay, I have had the backing come off of quite a few of them, and I'm testing the light to see if it works like the scangrip (just without the 5 settings)
The Megs Ultimate wheel cleaner is pretty good in my experience and has the magical color change stuff we all love ;). I find it safe enough to use on paint as well in a pinch. They also have a couple creeper seats that're pretty nice tbh. There's a dedicated detailing creeper that uses the same design as the Griots/Adams/etc... As well as a "mechanics" creeper seat that has drawers and stuff that I actually find more usable and handy for storing stuff
Great channel. Who sells just an electric pressure washer power unit. No hoses, no soap gun, no nozzles, no hose reel. I just need to replace the unit.
Went to my very first harbor freight store last week looking for car detail products. It definitely did not look like the harbor freight you were in very limited detailing products but I did buy the towel it’s great
Some if them keep that stuff split up in a couple sections….general detail stuff with the other automotive tools and the compounds by the power tools with the polishers.
The red Bauer 2000 psi pressure washer to the left of the 1750 Portland is identical to my Greenworks from Lowe's, just red. I wouldn't recommend it. I'm on my second pump after repairing the first one twice.
I just bought the 6” dual polisher for $80 not big one for $100 I had a 5” torx from chemical guys this thing had more power and pad felt nicer then the hex shit Very impressed
I thought about looking at one of the hf buffers, but as a diyer is a buffer a worth while thing to get? I understand a professional needing one but would the average person need one? Also clay bars, I just bought my first one and I'm waiting for the weather to get a little nicer to try it. How often should you use one?
Hey Josh! What ceramic coating did you use on the escalade? And how do you determine what product you are going to use... for instance why didn't you use 3D One on the escalade instead?
The Bauer 20mm Long Throw polisher is actually a sick little tool. I very strongly recommend you immediately change out the grease to a high quality high temp grease in the gear head. The other thing I strongly recommend is converting it to a 5" backing plate. Rupes 5" backing plate should work just fine, but theres others out there. One thing i like about the polisher is there's a balance adjustment on the head, if u take the backing plate off, theres a weight that you can move in and out on the counterwight, so you can tune the balance and make it run realky smooth. With those two mods (the grease, and the 5" plate) you'll have a very smooth and powerful polisher, that should last.
Josh what is your take on drying aids? I use the Liquid8r from The Rag Company. I sense you'd just use the towel unless it's a perfect paint show car or rare vehicle correct?
Love the Grants drying towel. Works extremely well and takes care of the entire vehicle without leaving water streaking.
It's extremely cheap, 85/15 blend, which is terrible for paint. But if it's just drying a daily driver, I guess that's fine.
@@AMP8424 enlighten us with your expertise details
@@ADHD_Wils what do you mean? This towel is not good for paint. At all. I would use for maybe engine bays or wheels, door jambs etc.
@@AMP8424 - What about 80/20 towels? Is that any better?
If you haven't tried a different towel, you are missing out. The Grant's Towel is super grabby on one side and doesn't do a good job of drying on the other side. You'll see a big difference if you try using a good twist loop towel.
The positive take he has on things is just refreshing and awesome

Thanks for all the great info. just got back from Harbor Freight got the 110 and 210 polishers also the gold leather cleaner land the Meguiars carwash along with the Grant's mirr and drying towel.

Wet a magic eraser, do vertical and horizontal passes, wipe dry with a glass towel. You can then apply a glass "cleaner" of your choice
