      If you know a good Tig welder they may be able to fix that case but would require splitting the motor but if your going that far may Aswel replace the whole case. I have had a few mates that have had them and lack of maintenance and many hours they can throw a rod and when they do they go straight through the crank case. If your going that far with pulling it apart I'd replace the crank and throw a high comp piston in it. But great score, over here in Australia there fetching $6000+ even in rough condition

    I had a 06 and my rod bearings went down. They were known for bottom end failure. Yamaha updated the oil pump in the bottom end in 2007 and up on the YFZ. You can get a oil pump conversion kit cheap that goes in the right side crank case. I would really recommend it.

    I gotta give this young man a thumbs up on every one of his videos simply because he is out there doing it, learning along the way and making a little $$ too. But I must say one mans mint condition is another mans clapped out pile. Very few bikes or atvs on this channel have truly been mint condition and ran as such. No Hate or trolling just a little constructive criticism from one atv/bike lover mechanic to another.

      That's honestly why I watch his channel tho... He buys and fixes stuff that most people would have little interest in bothering with. Then he shows you himself fixing it on a shoestring budget and getting some decent work and results in the process. Anything can be fixed, and I love seeing someone out there dedicated to do it with bikes and atvs.

    Crankcases are machined at the factory as a pair so should be replaced as a pair. If you strip the engine a good welder could probably fix that damage. With spark issues I'd start at the plug and work back. The cdi should be the last port of call. Could be the coil breaking down once hot. Do the cheap stuff first.

    When u rev it in neutral the tail light would give a pulse flash. On for a split second. Almost every time u revved it. Something isn't right somewhere and I'm thinking a ground in the harness. Not letting the taillight work right and now suddenly no spark. Look into that k man. And also test spark with a brand new plug. Not one thats been used at all. I would buy both case halves b.c. they are machined and matched together. I wouldn't risk fitment or clearance issues man. Go to bolt them together unmatched cases and one could crack. I have no idea why anyone would take off case savers......Those machines like top end the cam kicks in right near the highest RPM. almost like a 2 stroke. Riding one of those the first time I hit the cam it wheelied when I hit it then I just kept it in that range. OMG fun as hell.

  • @Dansyoung
    @Dansyoung 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought one of these a month or so ago. I would recommend replacing the case half - find a local person who parts them out, I have been super lucky in my area and there is a few atv wrecker options and it ends up being ridiculously cheap in comparison to new parts.
    On my machine I’ve had to replace: steering stem, bushing and bearing/seals, 1 front wheel bearing, 1 seized front caliper pin, 1 stripped out rear caliper pin, rear carrier bearings, shift lever, foot brake pedal, clutch lever, front brake lever. It’s been a good project so far, mine has been well loved and obviously raced at one point in its life - but they are a really nice machine.
    Also check to see if the oil mod/oil upgrade has been done the early models (06 and prior) did NOT have an oil jet to squirt oil up to the piston pin area and it can potentially cause catastrophic engine failure. You have to remove the clutch cover on the RS of the engine to see if it Has been done.

    • @Dansyoung
      @Dansyoung 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After watching more of your video, I would say you need to adjust the valves (reason for no start) and jet the carb

    • @Dansyoung
      @Dansyoung 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also put a stock air box back into it to keep crap away from the filter! Keep the box lid off but the box itself is a very good idea to have.

    You might want to put a outerwear over that filter to minimize the water intake it will also keep your filter clean longer. Much easier to clean the air filter cover. The red light is to tell you when the water temp is to hot it will come on when you turn the key on or start it for a few seconds to let you know its working.
