It's so fun to see Freedom in our backyard. We've had more boats in the bay this year, probably because the border is closed. For a guy who likes boats, it's been a real treat. I will keep an eye out for you when you're back in December.
Are you guys ever available for autographs, photos other functions, or during this new normal social distancing is that a bridge too far? You guys are the best ambassadors for boating and for this region, I've ever seen.
Greetings from the UK, I don't know if you realise how blessed you are to live and boat in one of the best places on earth (in my opinion - I used to live in Vancouver), and on a beautiful boat. On top of that, you are so delightful together, thank you so much for all your brilliant videos !
We have found that XTRATUF boots are a great option for beaching our dingy in cold weather, in the PNW. No more worrying about wet/cold socks/sneakers after an accidental dunking while getting on/off the dinghy. The official foot-wear of Alaska!
Good episode guys! Tully appreciated you fogging out his dinger. Haha. He’s got a rep to maintain ya know. Thanks for sharing. Life is good~ Ps: I like Shawns explanation of why 🚣♀️ have female names, and Elizabeth, he arrived at that pretty quickly...? He most certainly can’t be referring to you.
Back in my Navy days (the early sixties) we would access facilities in the Hood Canal requiring us to go through the floating bridge. You should look into exploring the rest of the Hood when you get a chance. Port Gamble also has a historic graveyard with Indian history, I could see it in the background with a white fence around it (12:39 & 14:21 marker). I totally envy your ability to explore the treasures of the Pacific Northwest. Jacques Cousteau called this region his second most favorite place to explore in all the world... I slightly disagree but then I'm from this region.
Happy November One you three. Love your adventures that accompany these videos around my home state. I'll never tire of these waters and the hidden gems you happen upon in your travels. Growing up on Puget Sound branded my life with experiences I'll never forget. Meals planned around these ventures was a fun challenge whether fished or foraged(clams/oysters). Stay close to the salt water and you'll never starve while every new tide brings a new menu. ThanQ for the views and stay safe you three!
Great video as always! We looked at a boat for sale in that little private marina in Hansville. Attended a friend's wedding in that little church in Port Gamble and then the reception at the event center you showed. Such a great little town, thanks for sharing your trip there.
Pilots also use checklists every time starting a new flight even after years on the same type of aircraft so they don't forget someting . Great job. Greetings from the Netherlands
Rather than a bungee Anchor Buddy, I tie a long trip line to the head of the anchor, position the anchor on the bow and give the dinghy a good push off the beach. You can get the boat 30-40 feet off the beach, pull the trip line, pop the anchor off the bow and be good to go even on an outgoing tide.
I use the blower end of the shop vac to fill the dingy it's the the perfect pressure and the large nozzle fits over the whole valve snd doesn't have to be perfect match that way. It's also super fast
I did what Elizabeth said and subscribed and hit the bell notification. Do you guys upload the videos at 0400 or is that YT? Another good one thanks. I really liked this video. Very authentic. Great to see a couple really like each other.
I can't run my daily life without a check list haha. As Floridians (who currently live in Texas) we are very familiar with the canals and inter-coastal of South Florida (my husband is from Palm beach gardens area). Question for you - would you ever consider relocating the boat to South Florida for better yearly weather, access to the Caribbean, etc etc? We have a lot of Nordhavns in South Florida too. Are thinking of longer away from home voyages like down to Oregon, along California coast or up to Alaska? Those steamed clams looked awesome! lol the pixels on the dogs genitals lol.
Yes we’ll likely spend some time in FL in a few years after we’ve cruised Alaska. The ultimate is cruising the NW passage to the east coast, over to Europe and then back across to the Caribbean 🤞🤞🤞
03:18 - LoLoL!!! 08:55 - if you go in at low tide and it goes UP - aren't you okay when it goes back down as long as it doesn't go back down PAST where it started?? Typed before I watched and answered... haha 23:33 - Is this why you clean and polish the dingy like everything else on Freedom? LoL I know I'm weeks behind but new job keeping me too busy with my own life, thankfully. =) Thanks for another great vlog. 👍😃
In an answer to the Freedom Survey of the week, I would take the boat big enough to live aboard. The reason being the house and the boat are both going to require cleaning and maintenance. If you only have one, you only have one thing to clean and maintain not two. Yet only the boat allows you to travel and change the scenery outside on a regular basis.
So your comment that all boats were female - In French, bateau (Boat), navire (ship), vaisseau (vessel) and trawler (chalutier) are all masculine nouns. Just an observation.

Each cabin would have 8-10 kids plus one high school aged kid to keep an eye on them. Of course the cabins were segregated by sex so boys in one and girls in another. I got to go once in 6th grade and several times when I was in high school. Kissing a banana slug was like a rite of passage lol. I haven’t thought of that place in years so thanks for the memories lol
As always, loved the video... I do have one question and that is have you ever lost your phone into the ocean or dropped it overboard you're very good on the videos and I was just wondering why you make these videos has an accident ever occurred or do you have a list of bloopers that you wouldn't mind showing sometimes
Bloopers is a good idea! Luckily we’re SUPER diligent with our phones and camera gear to avoid a costly mishap overboard, let’s hope it stays that way 🤞🤞🤞
Survey says Boat The history of the town is cool. It’s a company town. Literally still owned by the same company, Pope and Talbot. It used to be all employee housing. I’m sure some former employees still live there. Everything is still leased or rented to the occupants from Pope and Talbot. Or at least that’s my understanding. Although they went through bankruptcy in 08’ so that could have changed.
Would a solar panel be worthwhile? Also notice you leave the transom door open, are you not worried about seals, sea lions or River otters? (I hate them for their pooping habits)
There are plenty of seals in the bay, but they mostly hang out on the fish-pen you see at 1:00. I have never had one try to climb in to my boat. Otters are another matter though. Four of them made my boat their restaurant this summer. They kindly leave me the heads of all the salmon they eat on the boat.
@@mvfreedom Good thing about seals is they don't poop over everything like Otters do, but as cute as they are, they have a nasty bite and their saliva contains very nasty bacteria, always get a seal bite treated asap.
Don’t you ever worry about leaving your boat at anchor and going off for hours in the tender?. I would find myself not enjoying time away from the boat due to worrying.
Too funny! Blurring Sally’s underside when you picked him up to board the dinghy... 😂
Well done MV...we enjoy the combo of vessel life, tourism and Q&A...hope to join you with my own N43 one day.
