    We keep our boat at Pleasant Harbor. Yeah…not a lot going on. We’re on the waiting list for Cap Sante. I expect we’ll die before a slip comes available… 😂

    There is a Product called "Salt Away". I used it on our Boat for years. Start at the top and work your way down. It gets All the salt off the Boat. All you do afterwards is wipe down the bright work and windows and your dune.
    Thank You for this week's video.
    Until next time Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha

    The scenery is beautiful. I wish you could just show more of the boat moving through the water and the horizons the sunrise, sunsets, clouds, and mountains etc.

    When I moved to Vancouver I used to find the winters rather cool and damp. Since then Merino wool products came on the market. Game changer. Its unbelievable how big a difference a thin layer makes.

    Oh dear Elizabeth. Seeing you suffering with sea sickness brought back many memories from sailing on my parents boats over my youthful years. The need to “sleep it off” was my only way to feel better, but you are lucky enough to have your Martha to keep you warm & comfy during that nap. Shawn really takes special care of MV Freedom and that will pay off Big time if/when you trade up! Having been a subscriber for several years now, each and every posting is great! Wishing you a Very Happy Holiday Season on the sea,

    Thank you for the great videos! I throughly enjoy watching them all, some twice! We’ve been off the water for two years & I certainly miss those days. Hood Canal is beautiful, and so serene.. Pleasant Harbor Marina is lovely, it’s quiet & so very peaceful. Their remodeling project took a while but it was well worth the wait. HC & PHM - fabulous place for those times during the PNW shrimping seasons too. We loved our stays. The outdoor pool & hot tub are nice amenities. They do have great laundry facilities too if you’re in need. I’m not a huge pizza fan but it was pretty good. We found this marina to be great for all ages. Visitor’s with children throughly enjoy their stay. They’re not r e a l dog-friendly as to walking areas but it’s ok for short stays, and please watch the ramps, our little guy pulled a toenail out completely, yes ouch! There are good points & better points about any marina, we actually enjoyed every one we stayed, from Olympia to Nanaimo ..Pleasant Harbor was definitely one of the favorites. Oh how I miss our boating days⚓️🛥🦅
    Blessings for the best in 2023!

    If your wind speed instrument was set on APP(apparent), and it was showing "on the nose",the 8 kts of wind indicated was what you were creating. We hung out with friends in Brinnon a lot when we lived in PA, great claiming and oyster gathering area with the right tides.

    Great video! Those freighter waves are brutal, but not so much as the waves in Elliot Bay when they have the tug boat races during SeaFair. We were in our 22 foot Cuddy, and those waves must have easily been 10 feet and super close together. Go from looking down ten feet, to looking at waves over your head!

    The joys of a motor yacht, my wife would love it. Inside steering position, a/c and heating, stabilisors, ect ect. I don't understand it, what is wrong with living at an angle while getting a face full of salt water every few minutes on watch. Taking a shower at 45 degrees never mind using the head at the same angle. Oh, oh, squall coming better take in a reef. Enjoy, I would love to winter sail. maybe a Norhavn MS.😀

    Hey just wanted to throw this concept out there… and yes it is way smaller than your boat but this all scales up pretty linear. On my 24ft cabin cruiser Boaty McBoatface, I ran my 30A shore power inlet directly to my Victron Multiplus AC in, then the AC out feeds the boats main AC panel and loads. I can configure strict shore power limits, so that the inverter uses batteries to support loads that exceed shore power capability, and when loads are less than shore power limits the batteries are charged with the excess. Allows me to run the boat off of an 1800W generator or a 15A plug. I don’t yet have a video of this but it’s coming soon.

    Should try "Sea Bands" for the seasickness. My wife and I used to wear them on cruise ships. You can get them online, or at a what you would call a drug store. Try them they are cheap elastic bands that you wear on your wrists, and a button on the band is located on a pressure point. Easy and you don't have to take drugs.

    Took my discovery 266 from Tacoma to Hood Canal. Pleasant Harbor marina was good. Alderbrook was good where we missed Bill Gates by minutes. I can relate to ship wake, followed a large ship coming back and saw the havoc it's wake made on north bound boats. Crossed it's wake at Vashon Island which was a thrill. Safe boating Freedom.

    • @gregfawcett5152
      @gregfawcett5152 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rule of thumb is what ever you bought the boat for you will spend @ 10% of the purchase price of the boat just to keep the boat up. Add in 800 per month for moorage at a marina plus or minus depending on the length of your boat. Insurance 2K per year more or less depending on your boat. Don't forget the price of your boat. Then if you have a motor boat add in the cost of Diesel or gas. As your boat gets older the cost to keep it up increases. Dingys davits and motor add in about 20K for that...Freedom is not Free.
