And that's not even mentioning the great artists in other artforms, let alone artists of Asian, Middle Eastern or other backgrounds. Billy Joel did popular culture a favour by so deftly articulating 'truths' about humans, I'll agree with you on that :-)

I came here after watching his most recent concert in Tokyo a few days ago . Was magical to see him perform again. But I “loved these days” when BJ was carefree and aggressive and thick NY accent.
