It might be hard to believe and many wouldn't agree but I think billy is underrated big time. In my opinion if you listen to the song my life its very like the beatles and just as good hes up there with elton freddie and the beatles
U need to listen to more beatles songs!i like b.joel but can guarantee you he would tell u the beatles are on another level to everyone else!listen to there OLDER stuff.
The song all of us wish we had wrote for that special girl in our lives. Way back then when we had not too many worries. It was such a good and fine time. May Yahweh grant us this in that special place that we will all go to now very soon. I love this time of my life. It seems so far away. Hope I can go back . Thank you Billy for this lovely song. I cry for this time. Thank you.
I am soo happy that I grew up in the 70's and 80's!. We had good music. I am now grateful for the internet for all we have to do is click a button and get to see the singers and hear the songs without having to go turn on our radio record players, ( I still have mine) flip through albums to listen!! Or the cassette players!!
I grew up in 50's and their has always been good music !!! I feel in love with my Mothers " Platters " album & took it when I left home :) But I loved Billy Joel & so many from 60's, 70's, 80's !!! Always be open to older music.
Seeing your commentary, I realize that it is not only in my country that we have a decadence in music. Yes, national music is not worth listening to anymore
I had forgotten what a wonderfully clear and melodious voice that Billy Joel had as a young man. I still love hearing him (no matter what his age). He's wonderful.
Yeah, it's like Elton John. That guy's got a really strong voice, like Billy. People talk about their songwriting ability because we value songwriters and they're both prolific. But both have really strong voices too.
I remember as a 10 year old, in the winter of 1977, when I first heard this. It was a revelation to me...that music could move me in an inexplicable way. To this day...this track...moves me like no other ever has. Reminds me of a lost childhood, and my emotions for the little girl who sat across from me, in 5th grade. Her name was Beth...and I can still feel that same emotion for her...all these years later.
To me this is the best decade for music. It was more melodic, calm, easy to understand & lastly the music represented real life at that time. Thanks for the music!!!
Saw his concert in Baltimore the other night! He's still got it; I couldn't even be mad about the songs he didn't sing (concert would have been all night)!
I saw Billy Joel in concert in NY back in the early 90s. It was the best concert I have ever been to. The whole arena sang every song with him word for word. I'll always remember the beautiful sound of thousands of voices in sync with the notes of the piano. His songs are so poetic and meaningful everyone can relate. Highly underrated talented musician and song writer.
One of the first songs in English that I learned in full and that I often sang... hoping that a "Prince Charming" would say these words to me someday !😊👑 Thank you Mr. Billy Joel for making me dream (and for still making me dream) with this beautiful declaration of love ! 🩷💓🩷

By far the best version of this song.. The strong New York accent really is evident in this version which makes me love this song even more. Wish all men had these lyrics in their heart in todays world.
This song brings a tear to my eye as I recall the great times I had as a young man and as a Billy Joel fan. Thanks to Billy for enriching our lives with his great music and talent.
Possibly the greatest or at least one of the 10 greatest songs ever. I dont care if it only peaked @ #3 on US billboard hot 100. It's right up there with the best of the best.
I was a Junior in college at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1977 ... this song was playing at all the dorm and floor parties all around campus ... and playing at the bars downtown too ... awesome song, awesome year at school and so many great memories! ... thanks Billy!
No other entertainer sang LOVE from the Streets of NY to the World, and we LOVED him for it. Remarkable as one of NY's most loved son's he has Jewish roots, right back to the Holocaust. Now look at NY ??? It is despicable. It is so wrong. LOVE You Billy Joel. Love Your Music. LOVE your NY LOVE brother.
Excellent. One of my favorite songs from the 70's. What an era to have been a child /teen, with all of that great music. There will never be another era like the 70's. PERIOD.
Back when musicians were musicians and Live music was actually performed Live. You didn't become famous for 5 minutes because you sang somebody else's song on a cheesy Game Show. Amazing Talent, no lip synching, nothing pre-recorded, just pure TALENT.
Thanks so much i really appreciate , if you dont mind let me get to know a true fan better . You can write your phone number to me in my mail so i can text you and get to know you better ( joelbillysmusic@gmail.com )
There are a few but certainly not "a lot". Nobody had to look for it back in the day, in order to make it in music you actually required Talent. Today there are many talented artists who are not famous, but there are many more "famous" artists who are not talented.
One of the best songs ever written, and also one of my all time favourite songs. Thank you Billy Joel for singing it perfectly, you’re truly a music icon. ❤️
I grew up in the 80's and my mom would always have the soft rock radio station playing in the morning. I would hear a lot of songs but didn't know who the artist was. 40 years later, I can't believe how many great Billy Joel songs I know and didn't realize he sang them! I just can't believe he hasn't received homage for his talent. That's probably why I never thought about him that much. He's got to be one of the most underrated artists I can think of. I just watched 9 of his songs in a row on TH-cam, and there're all amazing!
Who underrates him? He’s the seventh-best-selling recording artist and the fourth-best-selling solo artist in the United States, with over 160 million records sold worldwide. He’s won five Grammy awards. He was inducted into the rock n’ roll hall of fame in 1999. He received The Kennedy Center Honors in 2013 - an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
@@TheExtremenarcissist No one underrates him with words, but through the fact that his music does not get played. I scan through at least 10 radio stations throughout the day as I drive during work all day (all different genres) and you just don't hear Billy Joel unless you actively search for him online.
This song was a huge hit my Senior year in high school. Played it like crazy back in 1978. After listening to it now - 40 + years later - I never noticed how absolutely beautiful the lyrics are! Makes me love & appreciate this song even more, now!

How're you doing?
Thanks for being a fan.
It's nice meeting you here.
Es hermosa como ti
Oh, that voice. Every single note right on pitch. This is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Hello Julie basco,
Is nice meeting you here.
How're you doing?
Amazing how perfect his pitch is…
No other voice quit like his and Phill Wood on the tenner sax ain't bad either.
Billy Joel has a terrific voice. Superb song writer, vocalist & performer. His performances speak volumes.
Thank you so much BJ
When my wife is putting some music on for us to enjoy I always ask her for BJ. Sadly, she has moved on from what we used to enjoy, and I rarely get the BJ that I ask for
It might be hard to believe and many wouldn't agree but I think billy is underrated big time.

I had the privilege of seeing him live in Sydney, Australi on my 60th Birthday, that was 14 years ago.
Seeing your commentary, I realize that it is not only in my country that we have a decadence in music. Yes, national music is not worth listening to anymore
we still have that music, now we just go to youtube. easier. Also we have new music which is also good.
Oingo boingo walks into the room and ruins your few seconds of 80's pride
I had forgotten what a wonderfully clear and melodious voice that Billy Joel had as a young man. I still love hearing him (no matter what his age). He's wonderful.
Yeah, it's like Elton John. That guy's got a really strong voice, like Billy. People talk about their songwriting ability because we value songwriters and they're both prolific. But both have really strong voices too.
Hello how are you doing, its nice meeting you here
Is this really you, BJ?!
@@SEW_B yes it really me . i know you must be surprised to receive a message from me right
Thank you, Billy, for this personal reply! And, YES, I am most certainly surprised! I hope you are well, happy, and creating more wonderful music!
There are those special songs that affect us and take us back to when we first heard it...memories...nostalgia...happy times...
3:27 - 3:40 ...😭THE TEARS!!!
🥺🥀💔 I've not seen this before now 🙏
When a live version tops the studio version you’ve got a real legend
To me this is the best decade for music. It was more melodic, calm, easy to understand & lastly the music represented real life at that time. Thanks for the music!!!
Man , he wrote so many good songs !
Best song writer ever. Always consistant and never disappoints. Keep going Billy cause you rock😊
He's got the best hair ever. I'm not sure about the song, though. It's nice, but doesn't really blow me away. Peace!!!!!!
no auto tune, no software vocal correction, just raw voice and pure talent
Including the sax 🎷
One of THE Best Songwriters EVER. Classic Legend: Billy Joel.
This makes me cry I wish someone loved me like this. I think this is Billy’s best piece.
Hello how are you doing
Kamu akan menemukan orang yang mencintaimu seperti ini. Jangan berhenti percaya
There’s someone out there for you… you’ll find them someday..
Hey
I love someone like this, she doesn't love me anymore.
A beautiful song with meaning. Nothing today compares with the music of this era.
You got that right Steve!!
It's because songs aren't built the same way. Songs used to be performed a hundred times in front of audiences before they were recorded.
@@Jay-ft3xh no one to Depend on
So much good music out there now, check out Pluto projector by Rex orange country. Great modern love song
Silvester my idol..billy the balladeer jazz!
There will never ever be another like Billy Joel. Hes freaking , amazingly talented. He's go spectacular skills
One of the first songs in English that I learned in full and that I often sang... hoping that a "Prince Charming" would say these words to me someday !😊👑 Thank you Mr. Billy Joel for making me dream (and for still making me dream) with this beautiful declaration of love ! 🩷💓🩷
His voice, piano playing, lyrics and kudos to the sax player. Pure talent. ❤
It makes me cry....... those days are over for me.......how wonderful is Billy Joel and his music, bringing out the heart
and soul of us all
Hi Billie ! Agree with you dear . If only all of us are just the we are, maybe...(A.B. from Liège Belgium Europe ).
Maybe not over...we are out here too
@@greggarrison3400 That's a pretty sweet thought, I shall hold it close when I feel so alone...... thankyou

Back to the good old days. This song really touches my heart and soul.
YES I KNOW ITS A CLASSIC AND WILL BE HEARD FOREVER.
Me too!
The same feeling.
Hello how are you doing
Wish I could have a coffee w/ this ICON.. bucket list;) . I was born in 70 and listened to his songs in the car with my parents and listen to their albums and I have adored him since😊
That sax solo is so fantastic. I love how Billy just plays from the back right corner.
This is absolutely one of the greatest songs ever recorded……beautiful & my favorite oldie…….but music of this caliber NEVER gets old…….a classic for sure❤️❤️
Hey there how are you doing today ?
This is the pearl ever of the seventies and eighties! The original Billy Joel`s song!
I LOVE this song sooo much!!! This song has REAL human SOUL and spirit!
同感てす。素敵です、
I was a Junior in college at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1977 ... this song was playing at all the dorm and floor parties all around campus ... and playing at the bars downtown too ... awesome song, awesome year at school and so many great memories! ... thanks Billy!
My boyfriend who passed from liver cancer 6yrs ago we used to sing this song 🎵 together 🎉🎉
He's never really stopped singing, . . Just remember . .

Brilliance ,,emotion and storytelling at it's best...hits the heart everytime I hear it ...the man's a legend
You can write your phone number to me in my mail so i can text you and get to know you better

And a sob story background
I'm only 30 but I feel that deep in my soul I was just saying music now a days cant touch the older stuff
There is actually more of this than there has ever been, you just have to look for it.
Emmanuel Espino agreed
Absolutely!
Agreed.
💕♥️🔥🙌🕊
No
Who underrates him?
He’s the seventh-best-selling recording artist and the fourth-best-selling solo artist in the United States, with over 160 million records sold worldwide.
He’s won five Grammy awards.
He was inducted into the rock n’ roll hall of fame in 1999.
He received The Kennedy Center Honors in 2013 - an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
@@TheExtremenarcissist they think that because THEY were late to the game everybody else must be in that slacken boat too! Lol
@@TheExtremenarcissist No one underrates him with words, but through the fact that his music does not get played. I scan through at least 10 radio stations throughout the day as I drive during work all day (all different genres) and you just don't hear Billy Joel unless you actively search for him online.
Thanks for sharing your music 🎶🎵😎Billy🎶🎵thank you😎
This song was a huge hit my Senior year in high school. Played it like crazy back in 1978. After listening to it now - 40 + years later - I never noticed how absolutely beautiful the lyrics are! Makes me love & appreciate this song even more, now!
