    The only thing I can add as someone with almost 1000 Lance hunts, some really strong monster attacks can't be guarded the further into the game you get, so naturally a lot of people take the skill guard up that lets you guard them. But when you do your guard plus A, and go into the counter attack stance. Simply press B to go into you're super block stance. It drains your stamina while you'rein it, but you can block even the strongest attacks. Letting you free up slots in your builds for things like sharpness management. Elemental damage and even free meal and wide range if you wanted to be a little more "supporty" and flexible. I really hope this helps. It's one of my all time favorite weapons and these 5 minute guides are essential to getting newcomers into weapons.

      does this require a certain skill or something? I'm playing on kbm so my inputs are different but I'm doing what I'm pretty sure is my B aka rmb and I don't enter any kind of super block? or maybe it was added in Sunbreak?

    Such a breath of fresh air to get 5 minute video tutorials on the weapons that are actually GOOD tutorials. Every time i wanna try a new weapon, but see 40 minute videos, I'm like " guess we're doing this alone." instead of guidance from youtubers :p.

    Lance's charge can reverse direction if you push move and click dodge opposite to the direction that you are changing. Your character does 180°. It comes in handy if you miss a charge and want to get back into it quickly.

    When pressing ZR+A and than B it enters an additional countermove. This one drains constantly stamina but blocks an multitude of attacks. Perfect when opposing an barrage of attacks. After this you can go with a strong poke by releasing your guard stance with x.

    For evading purposes after an attack you can do after the attack ZR+x to any side then side + b so you can protect yourself for the first half of the complete manouver

    one thing I'd mention is you pretty much always want to to the high pokes with A, the hitbox is basically the same but it does more damage. I never hit X lol

    • @KingRobRool
      @KingRobRool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      While this is true, sometimes your positioning serves an X attack better. You have to be a few feet closer to hit A attacks. So when you're not quite in range, X can still be used. It's lower dps, but low is better than 0. That's what I always keep in mind.

    I do have a full Lance guide for how I play on my channel, there are a few recommendations I can make for a quick guide. The ZL+X Switch skill is complete trash. It costs too much and benefits too little. You can literally do everything that move does with a Wirefall or Sheathed WireJump for 1 bug and 75% less cooldown. Leap into an attack, leap into a charge, or leap into a shield charge dealing KO damage too. You can even Wirebug jump into B for dodge roll for more distance and still follow up with the shield dash, doesn't work on wirefall though. Never use ZL + X. It's probably the worst switch skill in the entire game unfortunately. One other thing is, use guard dash in place of slotting evade extender, it moves you about as far and has mobility followups that are safe due to blocking and allow for immediate attacks with the lunge strike. Guard dash also resets all rule of 3 scenarios allowing you to never hit that frame lag of a 3rd hit. If you poke 3 times guard dash to reset :D the same can be done with a spiral thrust or any other wirebug skill but guard dash is an amazing positioning tool using G5 Gup1 will have your Lance be almost cart proof if you do a lot of shield play.

    • @csg1lcolonel528
      @csg1lcolonel528 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally like zr+x for large/flying monsters with high heads. The shield charge works surprisingly well for guarding attacks in the air, and if the recoil cancels it, you just cancel that recoil into another charge, as long as you're in the air. Overall, it's fun and safe to use, and while it isn't nearly as effective as spiral thrust spam, nothing can compare to the feeling of chasing allmother narwa into the sky with a single leap and canceling her supernova with a ko.

    Lance was my first self help weapon back in Tri. As a solo hunter, I was having a hard time against Diablos, specifically that tail, so I decided to chop it off. Lance was the weapon to get me confortable with that hunt and I always like to reserve for the end game, since it is very very different from the other weapons and it's a LOT of fun.
    Not sure about the new world, but the best skills in the old world were Mind's Eye, Steady Hand, Handycraft and Edge Lore... Those either gave you more sharpness, made you not bounce off of monsters or just made it harder to lose your overall sharpness, making it a lot of fun to charge even at downed monsters to abuse that tail and cut it off with one single charge

    • @KingRobRool
      @KingRobRool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely agree with the self help weapon stuff! Lance helped me a lot with the difficulty of soloing master rank in icebourne. It's an awesome weapon to use to safely learn about a monster's behaviours 🙂 plus the ability to stick to the monster like glue and just not care about its attacks is so cool 🙂

      @@KingRobRool Lance is great, and I didn't even mention that in underwater combat, you can become A HUMAN TORPEDO! It's the most fun if not second most fun weapon to use underwater back in Tri/3U

    • @KingRobRool
      @KingRobRool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Woah I was really missing out then! And I thought Gunlance had good mobility underwater 😂

    • @victorribeiro6772
      @victorribeiro6772 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KingRobRool Gunlance in my opinion is the weapon that can either be the first or second most fun underwater weapon, you have a lot of mobility with the uppercut strike going forward and you can aim 360° the Wyvern Blast Shot (Forgot the actual name), as long as it charges, you can aim it in any direction for perfect precision, it's insane. Meanwhile, Lance you become a human torpedo when you charge, but with a lower turn radius than on land (lower but not by much). I can't remember if you can only switch left or right while in torpedo mode but it feels like you pick up more speed than on land
