Thank you Sir, I am a die hard salt water surf fisherman with 3 igfa records. I had to watch over 10 videos before I found yours .I am visiting Missouri and have a cooler full of black crappie, thanks to you I feel confident that I can cook them correctly and anyone who eats them will smile... thanks
I discovered Louisiana fish fry mix a few years ago, I saw it at Walmart and tried it out. It's really good stuff, sticks to the fish well without egg wash and double-dipping. I like your method of breading the fish in a bowl, you get even coating and it doesn't come off when you're frying it. I hate coatings that come off, it dirties up your oil and the uncoated fish gets tough when fried. It works great for any fish and it's easy to use for shore lunches/camping too. I caught a mess of crappie yesterday through the ice, going out for more in a couple of hours, and they're going to be fried just like this tonight. I enjoy your videos, looking forward to watching more.
I truly appreciate you watching in your comment. If you catch some big slabs send pictures of them to me through email or my Instagram page at Dee crappie and I'll post them to my Instagram
Excellent fish-frying tips, thank you. Especially the tip about letting the fish cool down a little in a strainer instead of on paper towels. No doubt that keeps the fish nice and crisp instead of it turning soggy from the 'sweat'. I'll do that next time!
That fish looks amazing, thanks for sharing the techniques because for a long time I have struggled with frying fish. After watching this video I truly think I can get it done,💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thanks for the advice my brother. I went out and bought the same deep fryer you have, and it is a beast. Continue to enlighten us brother. Thank you for the love...
Thanks a mill for your fried fish cooking tips in a deep fryer . I was nervous wondering how to deep fried fish in a deep fryer because I always try foods in a pan and finally I got the nerve to start deep frying foods in a deep fryer instead . So thanks again and have may you have a blessed day . PS . Please keep up your good cooking tips for your viewers to see and learn from .
Best stuff on the market. While visiting Louisiana once on a fishing trip, our host cooked trout fillets for us as follows. The same seasoning mix that your using but as follows. Dry the filets (paper towel) and place them in bowl and add (depending on the amount of fish) a small amount of mustard and a couple of splashes of Louisiana hot sauce. Stir all of it together to lightly coat the fillets and then dip them (just as you did) in the seasoned mix. Everything else is the same as you are doing it. Outstanding flavor!!
I'm a Cajun. That's the method the wife and I use when pier fishing for 3 days at a time - we simply fry fish in an iron skillet directly on the portable charcoal BBQ pit. People ask what we are fishing for and I say Catfish, here taste.. they will take a bite and stay fishing for the rest of the day trying to recapture that goodness!
@@Deecrappie when I seen the crappie shirt and then you said Louisiana fish fry, I knew then you knew your stuff. Great video. Maybe I need to check out some of your other stuff. Love to cook !
Love me some crappie fillets, and I use that same breading sometimes too! In a pinch we go 1 part flour, two parts cornmeal, add some salt, cayenne, onion powder, etc. but as for store bought breading, I prefer just what you’re using there. Ha ha, watching this your voice turned on my Alexa! Those are some nice fillets man. Delicious. Great tip on the strainer! Never seen that before! Great tips, you’re gonna help a lot of people with this video.
Not sure what blender you have. I have a vitamix and Instead of flour I just take half the cornmeal and blend it into its own flour. Try it one day I bet you'll be even happier with the outcome.
No need for milk and eggs those are a waste. I've done this with fish and I've worked restaurants where a water bath and seasoning mix is used for frying shrimp. A Cajun myself we learn to slather a thin layer of mustard on the fish before coating to give it some needed thickness if desired and it adds a nice color too.
I use the same breading. But I like to put two bags of fish fry in a gallon freezer bag. Then when I’m done I’ll put the breading in the bag, right into the freezer. Use it two three times and replace. Helps keep the mess down. Awesome video! Tight lines and god bless!
I love this video. We have a fishing club with about 25 brothers. We live up north so right now is great for Crappie fishing. And a lot of guys try a lot of different recipes with crappie But this way is the best thank you
best ive seen on you tube. I appreciate how you don't use milk and egg wash as it destroys the flavor of the crappie. ive been doing it this way for 30 years and its by far the best. You can also just use flour salt and pepper or 50 50 flour cornmeal salt and pepper. Instant sub from me sir
Fish looks great. We use Louisiana Fish Fry, but due to it having MSG in it, we sometimes use Cajuns' Choice. We put our fillets in a gallon Ziplock bag with the fish breading and shake them up until they are covered. I find that it makes less mess for us. Thanks for the video.
Exactly how I do mine. Only difference is I mix 1 part flour and 3 parts Louisiana fry mix. I do 400 degrees on initial drop and put to 375 when I drop. I do 3.5 min.
Marinating the fish in Italian dressing first makes it taste nice and seasoned ... also keeps it juicy and moist ... you don’t have to add any additional salt .. love this video !
I love that Louisiana fish fry because its already seasoned. No need to add anything. Just coat the fish and fry it up. I use mustard to coat mine. Never thought about using water. Crispy and golden brown.
Thanks for the sifter tip to get rid of the clumps; I usually just throw it away. I also like the tip for nuggets. My former neighbor is a fisherman; he caught lots of crappies and would share them. I miss that.😐

@@Deecrappie You're welcome, much deserved. What I learned is we have been overcooking our fish.... We pull them out when the color is right, that's evidently too late. When you pulled your fish from the fryer, they looked a little too light.... but a few minutes later they had darkened. They looked perfect. I guess it makes sense that the fish continue to cook a little as they cool down. Steaks and prime rib continue to cook, why wouldn't fish? We use Zatarains Fish Fry, have you tried it? Thanks again, CH.
I agree with your video 99.99% but i found out that if u press the fish on both sides in the coating you will get more use of the fish batter in stead of shaking...i cook my fish at 320 to 330 degrees for 6 minutes.... also i use the lemon flavor coating with fillet swai fish both u can buy at walmart.... i tried the lemon flavor with other fish gilletd but i just didnt work as well with swai..... thanks for ur video.... also i remove as much moisture as i can.... and also i coat the fish twice the second coating is right before i fry the fish because the 1st coating soaks up moisture and the second coating seals the 1st coating.... thanks for the video u dont get a thumbs up u get 2 forks up see ya

I’m right above you in Arkansas. Louisiana fish fry is what I use for all the fish I fry from trout to bream. Great video!
Excellent presentation! "You just put em on down, then shake em around!"
Thank you for watching

Crappie jerky!! LOL!!! Love the video. While it's very simple, it's also right on the money. No need to get fancier. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be heading to Wallyword for a deep fryer.
