If you are pretty self conscious and don't like the way the world is running you simply avoid it and live the way you see fit for yourself... but succumbing to the thought of victors are those who put the rules you are far far wrong... if history has proven anything is that all tyrants were defeated, none has ever gained eternal greatness nor everlasting dominion, the fun part though it was PROPHETS who were mentioned by goodness and wellness... and most of them were poor, weak,...
It is clear to me that the world as usual heading straight to a new age, the age were some balance will be restored but at the cost of sacrifice... a very big sacrifice....
So until that time if you ever had the chance to be part of that change put that faith of having right and wrong, good and evil in you mind... so you don't waver like many will do, and if you were not part of it or you can't... at least keep it in your heart so that you don't fail those who sacrificed everything for this...
Life is defined by death not by it's shortness... we definitely stay dead far far longer than being alive so what is more important is living a life worthy enough not by peoples measures but by who knows what's beyond death...
Until here I guess the only way that might truly answer the questions about life was never from this world to begin with because no one has returned from the dead to tell us...
Search about Islam and try to take it from those who know it well, ask them the deep questions and show them your thoughts I believe you will somewhat find a better answer to life...
It is just so wrong living life the way you mentioned...

Another great point he made is that people fall into this trap of thinking they don't have anything more to learn. I know a lot of people who are eager to teach things I sense they don't know enough. It made me think what makes us think we know enough about certain topics, maybe it's pride, maybe it's laziness. Definitely something we should avoid even more than these last two.

You're still young and have much to learn about abusive families. I agree that all families are dysfunctional to some some degree, but there are some that are mired in abuse, addiction, and mental illness. I'm in my 50's and can relate to Josh's story on many levels. I do have a spouse and we've been together for 26+ years. His family IS my family by marriage and in my heart. I have zero contact with my family of origin as they always attempt to destroy my life.
The older you get, and the more the trauma you endured as a child has a negative effect on your life. Childhood trauma will manifest as physical ailments once you hit middle age. People who have an ACE's score of 4 or higher will suffer from all kinds of mental and physical health problems if they don't address their childhood trauma.
Josh is right, and you are not experienced enough to know you are wrong. Yes, all families are dysfunctional. However, not all families suffer the levels of self destructiveness that Josh's does. I grew up around people just like Josh's family, and many of them died quite young. I'm only in my 50's, but about half of my high school graduating class is already deceased.
ETA: I have a soul sister whom I’ve been in relationship since we were 18 years old. Yes, we’ve moved apart, and now live very different lives, but if she needed me or I needed her we would move heaven and earth to help each other.
We both came from highly abusive families. You’ve got to build your own family if you were raised by people who would as soon kill you as hug you.
Obviously, you’re family doesn’t even come close to the level of abuse that Josh’s family does. You’re quite lucky.

Whether it’s true or not, that’s a conversation for another day, but the key is that one of the oldest book talks about that kind of thing among family members.

But if it just becomes a burden, you would need to reach out to more family members to pull the same rope.
Disfunctional families have the very common problem that they never resolve issues, they pile up, even the small ones, so every issue becomes a major problem at some point, and as it gets increasingly more ugly, the problems just keep on piling up.
A single person will not solve everything on their own, but its always worth to be there, if the family member shows the means to fix the problem, as it really only works if a family is working "together" and not against each other.

I’ve heard Josh’s story. The type of drug addicts they are , are the ones who would justify stealing and lying to their own family. Or any of that behavior to any one. The hard truth is, that type of drug addict is not mentally strong enough to get better. They’re a lost cause. Time has shown us that not everyone can beat addiction. A fact which can’t be ignored any more.
Actually there is a way to possibly help them, but you’d have to take away their human rights. Which would be a good idea imo.
@@alcoyot I don' think that would work. Beating addition is hard, but what really feeds addiction is unhappiness. There is no way to beat addiction without first having a reason to beat the addiction. You can't beat an addiction just for the sake of not being addicted, that will never work. You need a very good reason as that will be the main motivating factor in helping you beat the addiction and it has to be something you do for yourself.
An example is wanting to beat high sugar food addiction to get better health so you can participate in a marathon that you have always wanted to participate in for your whole life.
There’s 2 sides to every story. Believing one side without hearing the other is irresponsible and juvenile.
I don't know about this. That "type" of addict. Barring the sister, it seems the family turned to drugs out of hard times, not because have been life time degenerate dependents. I think with the right boundries in place he has the abilty to help in a big way but feel he's gived up way too easily

If your family members are emotionally/physically/sexually abusive, then you have every right to go no-contact and leave them in the past.
If they’re also highly narcissistic and refuse to apologize for their wrongs, then you’re just wasting your time staying in touch with them-they will never accept accountability for their bad behavior and will undoubtedly be repeat offenders.
Tech Lead even said at the start of the video that almost no relationships last long term; that also applies to family. The mature way of being is to let go of what doesn’t work for you and move on with your life.

Yup, especially if they are bullying you emotionally and verbally, its not worth having your life made a misery by anyone, even family members. A high bar of displeasure is only extended to parents. Your nephew, niece, siblings, cousins, the bar is much lower and we don't have to tolerate any shit from them. Why should we? lifes too short.
They love to quote "blood is thicker than water" and "it takes a village to raise a child" without finishing those sayings. There are really : "blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" and to finish the second quote " it also takes a village to abuse a child".
I think that saying was in context of the bonds made during a battle. Not the relationship betweens blood relatives

Family is the only one you have when they aren’t kinda insane or terrible. If all my family had this positive supportive mindset I wouldn’t leave them and put them over all in my life but that’s not the case for me and a lot of people. But family is the only one who you will constantly be connected to in your life even if you never see each other, just in the fact you are related. Like if you die they will probably reap the benefits if you don’t have a wife or husband.
I don't talk to anyone in my family all of them are very selfish people all they do is take and have no respect in anyway it's better this way

When someone says "im sorry for whatever I've done" they dont think they've actually done anything wrong. The same was said to me once after absolute horrible treatment that lasted for years. No accountability.
You've summed up many aspects of living and human interaction that are worth for the whole persons life from a few braches of different sciences in one video and you've given the best possible advices to all of us. I needed a few weeks of continuous analysis to come up to the same points of view as from your talk. Just keep going like that! It feels like listening to a friend that came up to the same conclusion about things you're going to carry inside of your character for the whole life, no matter who you interact with.

The right therapist helped a family member's ex realize he should stop drinking completely. He did so and his ex started talking to him again and agreed to not drink when they are together. They both saw this therapist separately. They are now a couple again with good boundaries.

My oldest brother has flipped a switch into hate off and on all his life. Like a mean cat you pet and then they'll swat at you and try to bite you. Ive tried to understand its just him being him but its impossible to keep a relationship going constantly when i expect him to say something cruel at any moment so ive always distanced myself from him.

I'm with Fluke here, your privilege of growing up with and having a good family is showing hard. Example, they let you live in their home at all instead of kicking you out or demanding half of your income to live with them even if half of your income is in the millions. Also, it doesn't seem like you watched his drama series at all, just the most recent video he put out. There are several things you said that do not make sense at all if you actually watched the series (ie: you pushing the narrative that Fluke was doing well and maybe he should help out the family, but in one of his videos he said they were asking him for money when he had a net worth of literally $30, how is that doing well??) But hey, learn to forgive and move on am i right

Powerful message on forgiveness, however, it's easy to come from you who is very lucky to have loving parents.
My family isn't generally trash. They're actually pretty good but they do have 'trashy' tendencies that bother me. No one in this world is a complete saint. We all have problems. That being said, I've had to internally forgive people in my family in order to set myself free.

But no, just because you have a blood relatives doesn't necessarily mean your blood relatives will give a flying feather about you, or that they will support you. The opposite could be true - that they actively try to sabotage you, or that they only want to use you.
Also, if you don't accept blame for something you actually did (whether it was out of malice, or stupidity, or both), it means you don't give a flying feather about the damage you caused, and would probably do it again. So, I totally stand with Josh on that one: If you don't even apologize, it means you don't care about the damage you did, and thus I won't waste my time and life interacting with someone like that any longer.

Stay true to your moral code regardless of others. Do right even to those that have wronged you but don't leave yourself open to being wronged by them again. Josh went above and beyond to try and help his family, got burned and gas lit and now has a pseudo PTSD response. I hope he gets better but it's on him to manage how close he lets people in without getting attached. It's not about the relationship they desire it's about staying true to what you think you should do as a family member. People are flawed. I hope he overcomes this.
