I am having the first nursing strike with my sweet baby girl at 9 months. It's been 5 days now and I do try to stay calm, and talk to myself that this will pass. But I am sad. I have cried a ton over how much I miss our breastfeeding sessions. I have been pumping all day and she grabs the zippy cup just fine, so I know she is fed. I cant help but feel rejected when she sees my breast ( sometimes even getting my shirt up and she starts to fuzz).
I’m so sorry mommy. She still loves you very much!❤️. Do you have any idea why she’s gone into a nursing strike? At this age, it’s often related to teething. Don’t give up mommy! Keep offering but without stress. Hold her next to your bare breast without pressuring her to nurse. Her getting comfortable with it again will help a lot. ❤️
Hi friend now I am also in your situation. My baby girl also in nursing strike last 5 days I don't know what to do and no idea that she will breast feed again are not. Can you please tell me about your baby that she feed again after 5 days or not
Guys, my baby is 1 year, he is in nursing strike due to mouth ulcer. We are almost a week. He has recovered from mouth blisters but still rejecting. Can anyone help me to get through this please?
My boy was on a nursing strike for close to 2 months I even didn't know He would just take really little yet he used to take much Now that I realised and did the tricks of relaxing, being friendly, persistence, calming him down It worked He's back
Thank you so much for this video Mary Cahill. My son who turned 3 months a few days ago was on a nursing strike since the end of February. He is a combination fed baby. He liked the easy flow of the bottle hence he refused to nurse at breast. I followed your ideas about paced feeding, position changes during feeding and to maintain the milk supply with pumping. Now my baby has ended the nursing strike and is back to breast.
Oh thank you for sharing. My son is 6 weeks old and I finally got him to latch but he won’t stay breastfeeding for long and doesn’t do it often and I am searching how to get him to take the breast everytime and not refuse it. It’s hard because I keep worrying it won’t happen but comments like yours help to give me hope.
I cannot thank you enough for helping me get through my hardest time of breastfeeding. My baby was completely on the bottle for the first 3 months and after that I had to get him on the boo because I could not get my milk back cuz it was drying out. After watching this video and following the instructions I got my baby back on my boob in no time. Thank you so much I think he was just very aggravated and would feel my frustration when I would try it too hard to push it
First thing you mentioned as possible cause of the nursing strike "ear ache" so spot on for my baby. I took my 14 weeks old baby to the pediatrician 2 days after she started with the strike and guess what, doctor noticed baby had ear infection. Breast milk flow issues have also caused this, my left breast has very little milk and it often frustrated her even before this strike and prefered right breast bust also at moment the right breast usually overflows and chokes her u. At the same time my milk supply has gone down and I began expressing and bottle feeding to understand baby's demand and supply which definitely has brought nipple confusion You know what I'm having a breastfeeding crisis. But thanks for the video. I will try the tips to get baby to latch again
@@rendaninekhavhambe3473 I’m sorry mommy 🥲 A nursing strike is rough. I’m glad that you found the earache. That answers questions. Pumping your breastmilk isn’t a good way to check supply or baby’s intake. Baby can remove more milk than a pump. The way that we know for sure that baby is getting enough milk, is to count wet diapers. If you always see 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours, then you know baby is getting enough. We all have one side that makes more than the other. Babies often prefer one side. Keep offering the breast at each feeding but stop when baby starts to fuss. She’s probably latching first at night/sleeping but then start to latch more. ❤️
Twins on nursing strike and coming up to a very low supply after all... I guess what upset them is the waiting or the almost always interruptions for the crying of the sibling which are factors I can't change due to being alone all day with them! Tandem feeding doesn't also work as it becomes overwhelming for me and the babies 😭😔 so dying for some good breastfeeding sessions again this video was very helpful! Grateful for the info
So sorry mommy! Having twins can definitely be stressful, especially if you’re doing it alone most of the time. Many moms can nurse their twins in tandem or one after the other and do just fine but for others it just doesn’t work out. I’m surprised that both babies are going through a nursing strike. That can happen, but it would be lower odds. I often see mom of twins, nursing one twin and becoming an exclusive pumper for the other twin because one is in a nursing strike. How old are babies? Tell me more about your low supply. Are you exclusively pumping right now? If so, how much do you pump Per session in mls or ounces and how much are you pumping every 24 hours?
Thank you so much for this video! This is my situation My baby is one month old.. I am breastfeeding and he’s recently been refusing to eat a full feeding 1-3 times a day… he sleeps more throughout the night the most he’s gone sleeping is 5 hours and has 1-3 wake hours throughout the day he does end up eating till he’s full and his diapers are wet and full when he eats and when he doesn’t eat enough only a bit comes out.. other than that his temperature is great he doesn’t seem to be fuzzy or complaining or in pain but he does fight me when I try feeding him sometimes he’ll start eating for a few minutes then fight me and won’t eat
@@8spreadlovee8 I’m linking this video just to confirm what a wet diaper should feel like. If the diaper is really heavy, that can count as two. Do you have any suggestions for a nursing strike and an older baby? My 12 month old bit me for the first time and my reaction scared her. She has refused to nurse ever since. It has been a week so far. What are the chances she will come back? She will gladly take milk from a bottle and eats solids/ drinks from a cup well too. I have tried different rooms, different times, walking around topless.....baby will fuss and push away if I even try to get her close to latching. What else can I do? Or did I scare her for good?
You can definitely get her back but just go at it gently. If she fusses, stop. It will be best to offer when she’s sleepy (almost asleep). With an older baby, it can take a little longer but you can still do it. Be patient with her and yourself 💕
2nd day of my 2 month old baby. I used a nipple shield instead of the bottle as u suggested. I hope this strike is over soon. I'm devastated and feel I cannot function properly anymore 😢
@@fionahope8988 oh no mommy 😢 I’m so sorry. Feeding baby and enjoying baby are the most important things right now. Try to offer the breast without the shield at every feeding but stop and put it back on as soon as baby fusses. You can do this mommy! Talk to your partner or good friend and tell them how devastated you feel. Tell them that you want to be supported and encouraged. If you have a local lactation counselor and La Leche League meeting group try to see them. ❤️
Hi!! Thank you for this great video. The explanation calmed me down a bit. My son is 9 months and suddenly stopped nursing yesterday. He doesn't take bottles so I can't used the method you gave of going from bottle to breast. Right now he will only drink pumped milk out of a cup. He was fasting for 16 hours before he agreed to take from the cup. What can I do??
Stay calm and patient. Offer the breast at every feeding but stop when he starts to fuss. It can take a few days or a few weeks to get baby back to the breast but you can do it. Baby will usually start to latch again when they are sleepy. Then they slowly start to latch at other times. When baby starts to watch again, they may stop for a few days and then latch again. Spend as much time as possible with baby skin to skin. I know he’s a little older and might not want to sit still, but hold him near your bare breast while you read a story, snuggle, or drink from a cup. This is a stressful time but try to follow my suggestions in the video ❤️ You can do this mommy!
My baby girl is 8 months and the same thing has happened - I think it’s been related to teething but she suddenly doesn’t want to nurse and when i do bring her near the breast she tries to bite? what do i do?
Super helpful tips thank you My son started a nursing strike and he will refuse feedings after not eating for 3/4 hours. I don’t really have any milk pumped and stored because we exclusively breast feed and I almost never use bottles. I assume it’s teething related. Do I need to keep milk stored as a backup when he refuses feedings? He’s 7 months old and 21 lbs. i really don’t want him to prefer the bottle 🥺
It would be good to store some extra but it may take a while to be able to pump much extra at this age unless you have a forceful letdown/oversupply. He will probably nurse better when sleepy. Do what you can to keep nursing not stressful. You can do this mommy! ❤️
Hi there! trying to get through a nursing strike. Baby is preferring the bottle. I was advised if i said ouch clearly if she bit down that she wouldn’t ): i know i scared her. Oh this started at 10 months and she is 10 months and 12 days and we’ve only nursed once. When we were nursing all through night and couple times i. The day
So sorry mommy! You can get through this but it’s a lot of work. You’ll need to offer the breast at every feeding that you can but stop as soon as she starts to fuss. She will first start to latch when she’s sleepy. Follow the steps in the video and try to not get discouraged ❤️
@@Courtz843 It is the same. I probably shouldn’t have said it that way. Thank you for asking about it. I was just thinking more about a baby that was latching well but now not. For a newborn it’s often more of a latch issue. And we don’t want baby to get worked up and then fall asleep before getting enough to eat. Do you have a lactation counselor near by that can help?
Hi my baby is in a nursing strike, he is only 7 days old, I had clogged ducks that became mastitis and now that I have unclogged them my let down is too fast and he doesn’t like it. I don’t know what to do?. It’s been 3 days and he prefers the slow paced feeding bottle

Same on..my little one 2 months old one night decided that he doesn’t want to latch anymore...looks like nipples confusion (we are on combined feeding). Now he latches only with nipple shields , half asleep and not for a long time((
A nursing strike can be because of nipple confusion (babies aren’t actually confused but like all of us, they want what’s easier 😊) You definitely can get baby back to the breast but when bottle feeding too, it can take a little longer. Be very consistent about offering whenever you can. ❤️
I am going to try the steps for stopping the bottle and trying again and after the bottle is finished. I have only been trying before the bottle and I would feel so defeated I wouldn’t try again until the next feeding. I have been exclusively pumping for a month and I believe my baby just doesn’t like the texture of my nipples since it’s different than the bottle nipple. Is there a way to incorporate a nipple shield and then wean baby from that or is that just even more confusing? I went to pumping exclusively because my nipples were so badly cracked along with bleb issues.
@@aieshaharmwood3884 That would be a good idea to offer later or at the end of feedings. You know your baby best. You can go to a nipple shield but I personally don’t think that it helps you to get closer to baby on the breast. How old is baby? How much milk are you able to pump at each pumping session and how much are you getting every 24 hours?
Thank you i will keep this in mind. He is 2 months and I am getting over 24 oz a day now. Morning 10-13 oz. 2nd session 5-7 oz. 3rd and 4th session 5-6 oz and sometimes I can pump a 5th time if everything goes well at bed time. Yesterday I pumped 33 oz with pumping only 4x. I pump both breasts when pumping
@@aieshaharmwood3884 It sounds like you may have a bit of a forceful letdown/ oversupply. After about 6 to 8 weeks, our supply usually drops to what baby takes out but if you have a forceful letdown/over supply, it won’t drop as much. For an exclusively pumping mom at this point she usually needs to pump 6 or more times to get the needed 24 ounces. Having a FL/OS sounds like a good thing but it’s actually difficult. Some babies don’t like the fast letdown. If you believe that you have this condition, you will have it with every baby. It can’t be fixed but it can be managed. Here is a 3 part video series that you might check out. The first video just helps you to determine if this is the case. My baby is 9 months.. we were breast feeding maybe 6x in a 24 hour period. But now we are only doing two times and only at night. He refuses the breast during the day time and if i offer he bites me. He has bitten me at night but not as much. He has 4 teeth fully out with 2 on the way...i guess the strike could be caused by teething??? i am feeling soooo depressed with the abrupt adjustment ! I literally am heartbroken and have been moping around for days. I didnt realize how badly this would affect my hormone levels. My baby wont drink from a bottle either so ive been outting expressed milk and sometimes formula in a sippy cup so he has that during the day. He doesnt drink too mcuh of it tho since he hasnt mastered the cup yet. I hope this get better. I worry about my milk supply disappearing.
@@sabba8609 I’m sorry mommy 😢 Yes, teething can be a cause. Be sure to prop baby up for a deep latch. Baby will have a harder time biting down if they’re close in to you with lots of breast in their mouth. (They can still be tricky and bite though ). Watch babies diaper count to be sure that he’s having 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours. Follow the tips in the video and baby will usually get back to the breast in a few days to a week but it’s a stressful process. You’re not a failure if baby won’t get back to the breast. You’re doing great mommy 🥰
@marycahillclc aw thank you for getting back to me!!! It seems like he's having enough wet diapers. He finally started taking a bottle of my pumped milk. So I think this is it for my breast feeding journey. I am deeply sad but it is what it is. ❤️ thanks so much for responding and your kind words.
My baby wont accept breastfeeding or a bottle , spoon or cup. I am getting really worried. The number of wet diapers has dropped but she seem ok and active. What can i do?
my 3 months ols is breastfeed and bottle feed, and lately she doesn't want any. she just wants to laugh and talk and giggle and look around.! could the reason be she's growing and wants to take more decisions 😅😅?
She doesn’t want breast or bottle both? She may be getting better at removing milk so she doesn’t need to nurse as often. Do you think she’s getting distracted? If she’s getting distracted while nursing. You can try going into a quiet and slightly dark room. You can also try wearing a necklace with big beads or toys for her to play with while nursing. ❤️
Hello mam... Plz help me i m so depressed. My baby is one and a half month old, breastfed only ist five days then he refused. For last one month i have bn practicing to get him back to the breast but he starts jus crying... I m so depressed. Plz help me.
When he cries, be sure to stop right away. Then offer the breast at the next feeding. If baby is super hungry. It would be best to offer in the middle or at the end of a feeding. Baby will start to nurse at first when they are sleepy. It’s important to stay calm, but also very consistent. Hold baby skin to skin as much as possible so that baby gets used to being near the bare breast Without pressure of breast-feeding. When possible, hold baby against your bare breast while you are bottlefeeding. ❤️
I was one of the mommas who thought my baby was self weaning (at 4 months) and now my supply is really low, could that be a reason for a nursing strike?
Hi My baby was bm and bottle fed both. Now she is on strike since 15 days .previously she was havinge breastfeed once or thrice a day. Now she is completely refusing and prefering bottle. Can i make her re latch again. Breast supply is also decreasing. Please help im worried
You can definitely get her back to the breast. This age will be much better than older. Pump as often as she eats, with lots of added breast massage. Offer the breast at every feeding but stop when she fusses. She will be more apt to latch when she’s sleepy. Hold her skin to skin as much as possible with her face/ cheek against your breast. You can do this mommy! ❤️

You may have to bottle or cup feed her if she won’t latch at all. When a mom has the forceful letdown, the chances that baby will go into a nursing strike are higher. I am desperate for help. My baby is just 7 days old today but it’s been a struggle with breastfeeding and this is my third baby girl. Well I never had successful times with my other two. So this is my story, i was nursing exclusively for the first 3 days then I introduced a bottle bc she was just crying for more and just didn’t seem satisfied after nursing for like 5 hours straight at night. She took a few minutes nap seems like she was somewhat just soother on my breast and of course nit just eating. Well, my nipples started bleeding and i couldn’t just offer my breast so I offer bottles
I’m sorry mommy! Let’s work on this… Babies cry for other reasons than hungry. How were wet diapers in those first days? Was poop changing color (to green, brown or yellow) yes? Baby may have truly needed more if diaper count was low and still wasn’t changing color yet. Bleeding nipples is definitely not good. This is usually from bad latch and position but can be lip/tongue tie or a forceful letdown/over supply. Latch might be a little uncomfortable for a few seconds but not horribly painful. When mom is extremely sore and bleeding, I sometimes suggest nipple shields. I rarely introduce them but sometimes they are necessary. They are only recommended to be use for a short time.. (Less than a week) What happened with your older babies and breastfeeding? Some times this can really help me to figure it out, ❤️
Hi ma’am, I am very stressed and worried about my baby not getting my breast milk. I’m a first time mom and my baby is 8 weeks old. When he was born my body used to produce enough milk so in the beginning he used to latch on my breast but after couple days he refuse to latch and suckle so I’ve to supplement him with bottles and now he’s getting fast milk from the bottle so he doesn’t latch on my breast at all and cry and fussy. I do pumping as well but now milk flow is very low so he doesn’t latch and with pumping also barely any milk coming out. Also I always have to put nipple shield cuz my nipples are inverted he doesn’t latch directly on nipple and just cry and fussy all the time. Please if you can help
Many babies do this where they latch the first couple of days then refuse. It can be very frustrating and seem like baby will never latch but if you attempt to latch at every feeding, they will latch in a few days or a week. You have to be very consistent with it, but you also have to not let yourself or baby get upset. As soon as baby fusses, stop but then try again at the end of the feeding and again at the next feeding. (This video on nursing strikes will explain the steps) While you’re working to get your supply up, you’ll need to be pumping at least as often as baby eats. When baby gets formula , it’s longer between feedings so you may need to pump slightly more often than baby eats. Because baby gets used to that faster flow, it’s important to feed baby using Paced Feeding. Even with a flat or inverted nipple, most babies can still latch at the breast. A nipple shield should only be used as a last resort and it should only be used for a few days. Hi Marry Cahill, hope you are doing well. It has been more than 3 weeks since you posted on TH-cam. It is really helpful for us moms and wait for it eagerly. Hope also you & your family are well and in these difficult times.
Thank you! 💕 I’m work on my next video now. My in laws moved in with us and that was a little crazy. It makes me feel good to know that you’re looking forward to my next video ❤️ Are there any specific videos that you’d like me to do in the future?
My baby is 3 1/2 months old and wont take my breast all of a sudden. It’s been 4 days now. She started sleeping through the night and I wanted to sleep too and so I didn’t pump in the middle of the night which decreased my supply. I think that’s the reason why she stopped feeding from me. I have been waking up now in the middle of the night to get my supply back. Will I have to be pumping in the middle night for the rest of my breastfeeding journey to keep my supply? Everytime I offer her my breast she would cry and look away. I tried giving the breast while bottle feeding just like what your video said, she actually took it 2x but i feel like once she realizes it she lets go and fuzz a bit. I will continue trying though.
Pumping in the night will make you more milk only “in the night”. Your body makes more milk when you tell it to. So there’s no need for you to pump in the night unless you’re wanting that milk to store. I think it’s better to get your sleep if possible. If she is feeding from the breast and has 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours, then you know she’s getting enough. At 3 1/2 months, your letdown may be slower. If that was the problem, baby would probably latch then come off crying. If she’s not wanting to latch at all, that’s a nursing strike. It’s common to see baby start to nurse again then stop. Don’t be discouraged. Keep it up 💕. It takes lots of patience but she’ll get back there. Just remember to try to get her comfortable with the breast. Are you pumping for her bottles? How much milk are you getting? Has she been getting some formula too? About how many ounces a day?
Last week when she last took my breast, she would cry after sucking a bit. She would try again and cry again. this week, she totally does not want to take my breast. She would get fuzzy and look away when i give it to her. She has been sleeping through the night for several weeks now and when she would, i would too and not get up in the middle of the night to pump. I noticed a decrease in the amount of milk i pump. In the morning, i would usually alternate breast and bottle and give her breast at night. The amount of milk i pump varies all throughout the day. Sometimes i would only get 1.5oz, at times i would get 2-4 oz. Mostly around 2-3oz now a days. Thats why i thought its because ive been sleeping through the night. I feel like i cant keep up with her milk demand anymore especially now that she drinks 3.5oz a feeding. What should i do? I have a few frozen milk but this week, ive been finding the need to use them. Baby gets formula about two to three feedings a week when she goes visit her grand parents.
Hi! My baby went on a strike last week for around 3 days. Then we were back to latching fine for 4-5 days. Now we are back to strike. What could cause a back to back strike like that? Now I only have success latching in side lying position or in a nice warm bath. Will baby ever want to nurse in any other position?
Yes, that’s common to start and stop a strike in the beginning but baby will often go into a full strike. 😢 following the steps in the video can get baby back to the breast. It’s important to try to latch every feeding but stop as soon as baby fusses. But… in your situation with baby wanting a specific position, baby could have an ear infection starting. Baby may benefit from a chiropractor that works with infants. How old is baby?
@@marycahillclc he is 12 weeks old! What are some signs that he may have an ear infection? Some other things that I think may be causing it.. I believe he is teething (I know it’s early but I was an early teether as well!) and he has been sick the past 2 days.
@@samanthabaez2503 Your doctor would need to check baby out. Babies can be “teething” many weeks before teeth show. Teeth push on the gums and cause pain for a few days but then better for a while. When baby is having teething pain, they will usually be drooling more than normal. Teething can cause ear pain. Laying on one side may be painful but because of the tight suction, it causes a vacuum like pressure in the ears.

So sorry mommy 😢 I linked 2 videos for you. When did baby start the strike? Are you wanting to get back to breast or are you good with being an exclusive pumper? Do you know what might have caused baby to go into a nursing strike? When pumping, pump at least as often as baby nurses and at around the same times. Apply heat and LOTS of breast massage before pumping (10 minutes). -It takes 3 to 5 days to start to see an increase in supply. -An average out put in supply in 1 to 1.5 ounces an hour. So if it’s been 2 hours since pumping last, 2 ounces can be very normal. ❤️
@@marycahillclc: Thank you for your response. Now the milk supply is increased . But my baby is still in strike and not taking breast milk from nearly 3 weeks already, At nights or when he is sleeping he accepts the feed but when he is awake he is just looking at the surroundings during feed and not looking into my breast at all! I am feeling so demotivated
Keep offering but don’t let baby get upset. Baby needs to get comfortable with the bare breast. Hold baby near your breast while bottle feeding. It’s hard when baby is busy looking around. You can definitely keep trying but you can decide when it’s to frustrating ❤️. You’re doing a great job mommy, no matter how you feed baby 🥰
I got through the first nursing strike with pumping and bottle feeding but with second one as she is growing i am scared she would get used to bottle feeding but i want to exclusively breast feed her. She breast feeds when sleepy but fusses when fed awake and has more than 6 wet diapers not fully soaked but entire yellow line turns blue on the diaper. I am scared of milk supply reducing but pumping is just impossible with a toddler and it leaves me stressed and sleep deprived. Can i get throughh the strike without pumping. She only feeds for like 2-3 mins every 2 hours. Would i get my milk supply back when she starts nursing again?
@@kamalbrar5682 Is she getting formula in the bottle or pumped milk? A wet diaper is considered wet if it has 4 to 6 Tablespoons of urine in it. That usually just barely changes the line to blue. This is really young to be having 2 nursing strikes already. Do you have any guesses as to why this is happening? Do you have a Forceful Letdown/Over Supply?
@@marycahillclc she got pumped milk for like 2 days but she refused to eat from bottle as well so i stopped pumping and only directly fed her. Pumping would reduce my milk every time i had to feed her since i could not manage to do it right after baby fed bcoz of a clingy toddler. Last night i did skin to skin. But she was crying for like 2 hours but i guess it made her trust me again. Hopefully she will go back to breast when awake as well.
@@marycahillclc I did have foreceful letdown. It possibly happened bcoz of use of deodrant the first and second when i accidently used perfume in rush for going out. Never going use any sprays now. @@kamalbrar5682 Products like deodorant or perfume won’t cause forceful letdown/over supply but those things can be good to avoid so baby isn’t breathing in chemicals. when you did pump, how many ounces/mls did you get at a time? What is making you believe that your supply is low?
My baby is on nursing strike for a month last week I tried to get her back on the breast, and she was fighting it, then took it then I tried again and she was crying again
That’s very common to have a nursing strike baby nurse again once or twice then to stop again. Just keep going. Remember to be consistent. Offer the best as often as possible but don’t let her get stressed at the breast. Stop if she fusses. It’s not easy but you can do it ❤️
@Mary Cahill, Certified Lactation Counselor I tried earlier and she got fussy then I tried to trick her with the bottle and removing the bottle to give her the boob but she wouldn't take it. I think also because she is teething for the Past 2 weeks. Cuz I last week she took the boob like twice but went on strike again. I ordered lactation cookies and brownies being delivered on Monday but I also pump every 2 hours
@@Cynthia-nm4yx Do you feel that she’s not wanting to nurse because your supply is low? Low supply isn’t usually what starts a nursing strike. Are you pumping? How many ounces are you able to pump every 24 hours?

Hi, it’s been a month now.. my baby still refuses the breast.. I am so stressed.. only sometimes dream feeding works.. pls Suggest something 😟 his gums seems hard but he is just 4.5 months..I do have fast letdown but that is since day 1 and since last few weeks before strike he got used to it and was taking letdowns fine.. but suddenly this strike started..
A forceful letdown could be the problem. Even if he was fine with it before he might have changed his mind. Could your forceful letdown have gotten worse? Did you start doing any extra pumping?
My baby gradually stopped breastfeeding at 8 weeks yet she successfully breastfed prior to this. At first, she missed just one breast at one feeding session and this slowly increased over 3/4 days and she completely stopped breastfeeding. I’ve put her to the bottle as I don’t have another solution and expressing with occasional ready to feed organic milk.. it’s been 10 days I’m doing all the things I need to get her back (skin to skin, offering breast, face against breast during feeding) but I have no idea why she gradually stopped (maybe as I have her the pacifier and confused her) but I’m desperate to get her back to the breast. Have you ever heard of this situation? Any advice would also be amazing. I really want to get her to the breast asap if she will have it.
8 weeks is early to have a nursing strike after breastfeeding was going well. You are doing all of the right things. Just be sure to offer at every feeding but stop if she gets upset. She will probably latch first, while sleepy. How is your milk supply? Are you pumping often? You could use a SNS (Supplemental Nursing System). This is a small tube, taped to your breast so baby takes in their supplement at the breast instead of the bottle. I’ll attach a link but you should work with a LC to use it. Another option is a Nipple shield. I only offer this as a last resort. It can cause other problems. It should only be used for a few days then begin weaning it off by sneaking it off during a feeding. Now let’s try to figure out why this is happening. Do you have any guesses as to why? Baby could have an ear infection or need an adjustment by a chiropractor who works with infants. Either of these things can make it uncomfortable for baby to lay on one side. You can nurse baby in an upright or laid-back position to see if that’s any better.❤️ amzn.to/47QMAw4

How exciting! Good job mommy! ♥️

I cannot thank you enough for helping me get through my hardest time of breastfeeding. After watching this video and following the instructions I got my baby back on my boob in no time. Thank you so much I think he was just very aggravated and would feel my frustration when I would try it too hard to push it
Awesome mommy!! ❤️❤️❤️
At the same time my milk supply has gone down and I began expressing and bottle feeding to understand baby's demand and supply which definitely has brought nipple confusion
You know what I'm having a breastfeeding crisis.

My son started a nursing strike and he will refuse feedings after not eating for 3/4 hours.

Same on..my little one 2 months old one night decided that he doesn’t want to latch anymore...looks like nipples confusion (we are on combined feeding). Now he latches only with nipple shields , half asleep and not for a long time((
A nursing strike can be because of nipple confusion (babies aren’t actually confused but like all of us, they want what’s easier 😊)
You definitely can get baby back to the breast but when bottle feeding too, it can take a little longer.

(Less than a week)
What happened with your older babies and breastfeeding?
(This video on nursing strikes will explain the steps)
While you’re working to get your supply up, you’ll need to be pumping at least as often as baby eats.

@@amileindian4041 How old is baby? Are you bottle feeding or does she nurse sometimes?
It can help if you offer the breast before baby is showing those hunger signs of sucking their fingers. If baby gets really upset, walk around with baby to calm her down before trying to latch. ❤️

@@shushangilazghi5588 quite often, moms breastmilk isn’t as low as she thinks. How old is your baby? Is your supply low?
@@marycahillclc my baby is 4 months and two weeks and it is not so low but want to increase it so that I can store some for later.
Thank w

You can get through a nursing strike but you must be patient and consistent.
Offer the breast often but stop as soon as he starts to fuss. He will probably 1st start to latch when sleepy.
Get him comfortable with the breast but without pressure from you. Hold him next to your bare breast while bottle feeding, comforting or just talking to him. It is more of a challenge at this age because he is so busy and active but it can be done.
Try not to stress but make the breast available at each feeding. ❤️

It’s best to not force baby if possible but offer the breast at every feeding. Sometimes in the beginning, middle or end of feeding. Whenever he’s most relaxed.
Baby will usually start nursing again while sleeping.
Spend time holding him against your bare breast while bottle feeding or just talking to him. It will help him to get comfortable with the breast again. ❤️

Keep offering but don’t let baby get upset. Baby needs to get comfortable with the bare breast. Hold baby near your breast while bottle feeding. It’s hard when baby is busy looking around. Nursing strike at day 10 after birth and then at day 30 again 😢
I got through the first nursing strike with pumping and bottle feeding but with second one as she is growing i am scared she would get used to bottle feeding but i want to exclusively breast feed her. @@kamalbrar5682 Is she getting formula in the bottle or pumped milk?
A wet diaper is considered wet if it has 4 to 6 Tablespoons of urine in it. That usually just barely changes the line to blue.

You can nurse baby in an upright or laid-back position to see if that’s any better.❤️
