  • John Rothschild is the CEO of Prime Restaurants Inc., which has over 140 casual dining restaurants in Canada and the U.S., including East Side Mario's. He goes undercover in the restaurant in a bid to check the front lines of the business. With the explosion of family dining restaurants, East Side Mario's is fighting for customers and Rothschild is worried that his brand is starting to look dated. But his own staff and customers have surprising solutions to reviving business, and when he reunites with the people he worked alongside, he makes a big difference to both their personal and work lives.[25]

      I can certai ly relate to her i was a addict and alcoholic for 12 years and am now 13 months sober and people have no idea how hard it is to get sober and dont understand that we dont choose to be addicts once addicted its very hard to escape that and people love to judge and place stigmas on addicts and have no idea the internal torture we go through and i was homeless for 10 months living out of abandoned buildings or anywhere i could find or being in a blizzard in buffalo new york freezing and not sleeping just to keep yourself warm and survive people need to educate themselves and understand addiction rather then judge and frown on addicts.

I was a dishwasher/bar back a long time ago, then moved to a server/prep-cook, bartender, and with bartending I paid my way through culinary school, and became a Chef. So, it's nice to hear someone giving the little guys/gals a shout once in a while.
      Man, if you want to have a career in the Hospitality Industry, all ya need is to get your foot in the door and stay focused and willing to learn. Most places anymore will even pay your way through school as long as you give back the favor with honesty.

Most people want to hear a heartfelt thanks but, more importantly, people want to hear that they are needed and appreciated. these employees work so hard every day. they should get bonus check every year for hard work they do.......... it comes a time to retire don't wait till your health is gone.. my father was one of this people waiting to long to retire his health went down hill so even if your a business owner its best to resign and let your family take over business you sit in back ground watching only step in when your in need to do so.. enjoy life

      True that, we have been fed a lie. You don't need to work 20-30 years to enjoy life. The world is yours.

    • @chriskowalski7038
      @chriskowalski7038 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True..but statistics show that those who retire early wish they hadn't...As we all know it's a tough financial world out there and it's going to get harder..Some people choose to work longer even if it is hard physically ...

    • @MatthewSmith-wv5fi
      @MatthewSmith-wv5fi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chriskowalski7038 it depends on which generation you are referring to and what industry they were in. Government workers in Canada, for example, tend to retire at 53. The self-employed, by contrast, tend not to retire ever. Then there's the inbetweeners that are neither self-employed nor government workers...read...the majority. They tend to get the worst deal. They often come out of retirement. They are more likely to end up unemployed and more often. Further, as a result of the aforementioned, they have the biggest difficulties with saving for retirement. For the largest class of workers, education has a near invisible impact. There are only so many executive and management positions available in a country with 38 million people. Not only does our economy need a full rethink, our political entrenchments need to be flipped on their heads.

    • @chriskowalski7038
      @chriskowalski7038 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Matt smith..Not sure about your comment...I have a government pension and the earliest it allows me to retire is 55..My parents are retired and doing ok but they were very frugal throughout their lives so much so that we went without for most of our lives...I read a blog that my government pension offers on the website and from what i read most people that retire early wished they worked a few years longer..

    • @MatthewSmith-wv5fi
      @MatthewSmith-wv5fi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chriskowalski7038 Today, yes. That's due to the 2008 financial collapse. Similar statements can be made for similar periods where the market collapsed...this is why I suggest, it depends on the generation. Take the 2008 collapse. If you had retired in say 2006, you would freak out if your holdings were in equity. In 2006 you could have retired with s million in savings and by the end of 2008 it could have been halved. Using the exact same period but with a different age group produces the exact opposite. The group that only starts saving in 2009 reap huge returns as the market recovers. The retiree can't take this advantage. Their income is tied to a deflating asset. They either need new income or they need to dramatically reduce their standard of living over their retirement. Ever see an Andex Chart? You can literally look at it and go...whoa, woulda sucked to retire in year x/it would have been awesome if I had savings at point y and so on. So, this is why I say it depends on the asset class and the particular age group etc.
      It does require a degree of knowledge on how various government programs and investment structures used.
      There is a difference in government programs over the years. There was once the RRSP but now there is the RRSP and the TFSA. So, younger generations can take advantage of the TFSA in the way older generations can not.
      If I were twenty years younger I'd be throwing equity into my TFSA and I would likely keep my income generating funds in an RRSP. I would then likely have some non-registered investments as well in equity or investments that provide a Return of Capital. This would allow me to maximize my savings in a way that produces the greatest tax benefit.
