  • Pizza is a $40 billion business in North America. Canadian boss Domenic Primucci has been making them since he was a kid, and as his company, Pizza Nova, prepares to celebrate its 50th birthday, he thinks its a perfect time to work undercover, in disguise, in his own stores. He is growing his chain of franchises, but is Pizza Nova's "mom and pop" feel being lost as a result of brand expansion?

I just looked back at my own life. I was on a plane talking to one of the executives of my company. I asked him why my climb was so tough. He replied that I was excellent at my job, and I wasn’t promoted because he didn’t think he could replace me at the level of job I was doing. I was elated that the consensus was that I excellent but made me rethink all of the hard work and countless hours I put in. I own my own business now and would never do what they did to me.

You have to remember that boss might not flaunt it but he is a multimillionaire & tbh it’s kinda cheap of him to be giving away only 5 to 10k , there’s other bosses that gave away like up to 20k to 250k which I find much more fair considering the fact that many of the dedicated employees bust thier ass working for that rich bastard. The smartest strategy is to not tell him you recognize him right off the bat no matter how bad the makeup is 🤣

I am so frustrated right now. Woman here, got told by a supervisor a couple weeks ago that my feelings (about productivity and fairness and flat out misogyny) don't matter. And here we have a show focused on the details, words, actions, and maintaining discipline... and you're gushing about how someone giving gifts that don't affect their life at all makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. You missed the point of the series fam. Go watch animal rescue videos or something if all you want from life is feel good dopamine rushes. YOU ARE THE REASON WORKING WOMEN LIKE ME ARE NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
Feelings are great. Emotions are fun. But letting them be your entire worldview and how you judge something...? THAT is the problem and why the stereotypes exist. Don't stop feeling good, nor enjoying content. But PLEASE recognize how damaging it is when people like you decide to wash over every struggle, every thought, every circumstance, and just go straight to if it makes you feel good in that moment. What a narrow minded worldview to be at the beck and call of your hormone rushes...

95% of franchise businesses are like that tho. The management sits in offices, never doing or even witnessing the daily business in a store. 4 years at a pizza shack now, the only time a "manager" shows up is if he feels like shitting all over you because they got an angry e-mail from a customer that had to wait 5 extra minutes for his delivery.
They make so much money from each store, usually they own the property but charge rent for each store, they buy the ingredients wholesale for pretty decent prices but then sell it to every store with borderline insane profits. Then take another cut from the revenue from each store.
We used to be able to buy ingredients for the salads on the menue, and make a decent profit that way. Now we gotta buy it all from HQ, a bag of mixed salad for 12.50$ that would have cost us maybe 4$ to make ourselves before. In that bag there's enough content to make 2 of our main salads that we sell for 15$ each. But those salads are not just mixed greens, there's also Mozarella in in, tuna fish, olives, tomatoes and chicken meat. We now make like 10cents profit on those. and from those 10 cents, HQ takes half.
Food business is absolutely cruel. And to top it off, in my country for some reason people don't think it's normal to tip the delivery guy. On the other hand it's absolutely customary to tip at least 10% of a bill to your waiter. Often times just a person taking an order and transporting food from A to B within a warm and cozy environment. While the delivery guy is busting his balls trying to climb that icy hill to your remote home, walking through pouring rain or knee deep snow at times, to then face a douchebag that order for 98$ and insists on getting his 2 bucks back from the 100 bill he paid with.
Can't count the times i've walked passed a car park of Porsches, high end Mercedes or BMW cars, sometimes even a private security guy opening the outer gates, to then deliver a pre-paid order and not get even 1 buck tipp.
When you make 20k+ a month, and are too lazy to cook your own dinner but still don't feel like tipping at least a buck, i sure hope you end up in hell.

These guys are handling foods without a hair net covering over their hair.
I think this is very important for food safety. They seem to be overlooking the possibility of loose hair getting into the food.
It will be great to see PIZZA NOVA think in this all important direction to improve on their food handling for enhanced public safety

I thought that too. But then I was informed, that hair protection is to keep YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR OWN HAIR. Sit and watch people eating, and you will see some freak out with hand sanitizer, etc. They touch their face and hair constantly, without thinking about it, or chew their nails. In till you work on a farm and get some cow shit in there.
When wearing a hat, scarf, hair net, anything that is hair or hat protection, those people, don't touch their head, or do so far less often. After being a people watcher and working in healthcare and food service/storage, and livestock, I still get a kick out of it.

What I've noticed on all the many, many Undercover Boss episodes, is that the front line employees have great ideas that top management never hears about. It's sad and inefficient that it has to take the CEO to go undercover for these great ideas to get heard !!!! CEOs need to establish a system so top management can hear directly from the front line employees ideas on how to improve things that will provide the customer with a better experience. And, top management really need to listen and consider the front line employees ideas.

      No, you don't know.
As the idea is something come up with while on the clock as an employee, he owes him nothing at all, beyond his pay, and his thanks.
A gratuity is just that, a thank you.
The two men who created "Superman " sold those Rights for $300.00. So who made Superman a legend? It clearly wasn't the creator of the character, now was it? Just because you came up with the idea, doesn't mean you have the ability to mass market, and produce it.
In fact, if you create something in your course of study, as a student, you professor is your source of knowledge, and he legally owns the Rights to what you came up with. (I have an uncle that had to make the choice of patent now and save lives, or patent in 2 years, and keep the Rights. Since the professor was not a total dick, they agreed to split the Rights, and patent now.)
