Mine came out surprisingly well! Much better look that buying caps and the cleanup was super easy. I used one of those plastic liners from Walmart for $2 and just cut out a square for the emblem. Might have been overkill but ensured no overspray on the car. Thanks for the video, love the stuff you put out man!
You can also use vinyl. cut the vinyl 2mm straight line, wrap it around the side of emblem, trace the logo with pencil, and cut the logo into shape. it will seemlessly cover everything and user friendly
I'd stay away from auto car washes and keep pressure washers from hitting it directly. You'll get a couple years most likely - give or take some time depending on your weather conditions
Are you removing the logos to PPF? If that's the case, I would plasti dip them when they are off the car and then put them back on after it's PPFed. If you're PPFing around the logos, you can do either way but I would plasti dip before
If it's PPF, it' fine. If it's ceramic coated, plasti dip won't work. Same process for front and rear logos. Same steps on wrapped cars, just be careful. One can is plenty for both logos.
We don't, but if applied correctly with multiple coats, you should be able to easily peel it off. If not, you may need dip dissolver like this one www.amazon.com/DipYourCar-Dip-Dissolver/dp/B00EKS5FJO/ref=sr_1_5 This article talks more about peeling vs dissolving plasti dip - www.thedrive.com/cleaning-detailing/38270/how-to-remove-plasti-dip
It works and looks great but durability is bad and to “repair” the areas where the plasti dip comes off requires you removed the entire plasti dip from logo or it will cause an uneven look. I say buy a logo cap
Can this be removed as needed? I leased a M3 and thinking of getting the chrome logos plasti dipped. Since it’s a leased car, I can’t do drastic modifications
Yes, you can take plasti dip off! You can also do any wraps on the exterior and/or interior bc they can be peeled off too. So plasti dip, vinyl wrap, ppf - all okay to do
I don't recommend auto car washes because it can be a bit harsh. I would hand wash your car and be gentle around the dip areas, like don't pressure wash directly on it
Will this work on vinyl car wrap? Or I’m assuming they will remove the emblem before they do the wrap? If that’s the case I’ll prob just have it painted (regular paint) wonder how hard it is to remove the emblem and then re-attach it
Now I'm kind of scared to do the plastidip on my Tesla Emblems because I have ppf on the hood. Does this peel off of the PPF like it does on the paint?
I would take it off and start over probably. You could keep it on and follow the steps in the video, but you'd end up with uneven spray. If that doesn't bother you though, then yes, this would work
For the handles, i'd recommend vinyl wrapping them. But it would be the same concept as the logos. Just do light coats and that'll ensure it'll be easier to peel later on.
@@tesbros Apparently putting the plast dip can in warm water helps with the rubber paint evening out better during the drying process for each layer. Not gonna plug another channel in your video but its definitely around in the YTverse!
Typically your emblems aren't going to have PPF on them, but maybe your car underneath the emblems has PPF? That's totally fine to plasti dip on top of. It'll actually make it easier to peel off around the emblem! But if you want to plasti dip on a PPF surface, it might not stick very well or stay on very long. Especially if it has hydrophobic qualities.
@@tesbros Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I am thinking to do the PPF myself. It would make sense to remove the logo and install the PPF. But I am not sure whether the logo would stay firmly on top of PPF. Any idea?
@@pencilsfxc yeah, it’ll stay no problem! That’s how I always do it. You can buy the kits that come pre-cut around the logo but they don’t look the best in my opinion
@@tesbros Good point! I am thinking to get the pre-cut PPF and the logo is cut out on the PPF. Therefore, I don't need to remove the logo. I will install the PPF and then plasti dip the logo on top of the PPF.
The fact that so many of your products have install templates really sets you guys apart. Keep up the good work!
Nice informative video, but the two last coats should be a lot heavier, makes the peel and finish a lot better
Doing this to my Model Y’s Gemini wheels today! Love watching you guys.
We appreciate it Carlos! We will continue to provide more resources for the community.
how did it turn out?

Does it last?
@@dypdyp been lasting like a champ for me.. power washed, rained on, left in sun etc.. none has come off
great, thnx for sharing 👍
Dude that's a simple but great tip! I've been worried about the overspray.
Good technique. I was surprised to see it not tear into the logo. Good job.
It did. Look closer.

Great technique! How long does it last though, especially if I am taking my Tesla to automatic carwashes?
If you say away from brushes you will probably see 2-3 years, depending on how harsh the winter is where you are
I'd stay away from auto car washes and keep pressure washers from hitting it directly. You'll get a couple years most likely - give or take some time depending on your weather conditions
Slower passes, laying wet coats after the 2nd cost to avoid orange peel and for easier peeling.
You should do pillar delete ~ white teslas with black pillars looks good~~ probably what I’ll be doing when I get mine this week
For sure! We have a pillar delete kit if you’d rather use vinyl instead of plasti dip - tesbros.com/products/pillar-delete
I want to buy your products but I’ll probably end up ruining it trying to install lol
@@buystuff9804my friend here in Netherlands bought and installed it from our local distributor of Tesbros. Did a 99% good job.
Can you do the Tesla word on the trunk as well same method?
Yes!
Did it on MY. Lesson learned: Easy, but Don’t be in a hurry. Let it dry before peeling.
great advice!
Did you wait 10 mins to let it dry after each coat? Or just after the first initial
Yes. You want to wait between each coat.
@@tesbros Thanks!

Best to cut the borders before removing the contours.
With what? Box cutter? 😂
Does it last for a decent amount of time or start to peel off after few washes? Trying to decide between Plasti Dip or just remove/replace emblem.
It’ll last for a while! just be careful using a pressure washer on it
How long did you wait inbetween coats? I’m doing mine right now and waiting for the first layer to dry and I saw this video haha
They recommend 30 minutes, but I find that 10-15 min between each coat is enough. Wait roughly 30 min at the least before peeling.
@@tesbros dope I wait 15 in between coats on my third coat right now haha
@@VinsanityB7 go light on those coats! That’s the key

Can this be done on the Dual motor emblem in the back of the car?
Absolutely. Same process. Grab several tooth picks.
so if you go from top to bottom direction, is that one coating? Or top to bottom into bottom to top into left to right into right to left = 1 coating?
The first one!
Great video! Q: Is one can enough for both Front and Rear logos plus 'Dual Motor'?
Yes
You can also plasti dip the wheel hub caps. Search TH-cam for a video on it.
great. thank you for sharing this tutorial. useful. Regards.
It is 30 minutes after all the 6 coats, right?
Before peeling? Yes, as long as it's dry to the touch and will have like a rubbery feel. Wait longer if you're uncertain

Could I use plastic dip on the wheel cover.
Yes
Can I do this with my hood already ppfed and ceramic coated?
Yes! If your T is also ceramic coated though, that will make it harder to adhere
It seems the biggest hassle would be from doing the dual motor letters.
Yes, for sure. Another option is you can buy them black and replace the chrome emblems
Do you know if plasti dip will stick on top of ceramic coating?
Not as well but worth a try. Also depends on the ceramic coating and also how long it’s been on the vehicle.
Would you use a metal cricket tooth pick? Would it scratch the car?
There's definitely a chance it could scratch the car. I would stick to softer things
Can I ceramic coat over the plasti dip???
Yes!
Is this carwash resistant? How about hand carwash?
Yes once it’s fully dried and in place, you can hand car wash.
Will this work on vinyl car wrap? Or I’m assuming they will remove the emblem before they do the wrap? If that’s the case I’ll prob just have it painted (regular paint) wonder how hard it is to remove the emblem and then re-attach it

Does this peel off of the PPF like it does on the paint?
Yes, peels off the same if not better

will one can be enough for the front and back emblem?
It'll be good for one emblem. I would get two cans to make sure you get both covered.

For the handles, i'd recommend vinyl wrapping them. But it would be the same concept as the logos. Just do light coats and that'll ensure it'll be easier to peel later on.

I dont like how it has a texture. I took mine off, sand blasted them then spray them with satin black.
Plasti dip does not have a texture, if you have a texture you sprayed it incorrectly.

the OEM silver

How does this hold up in extreme Florida hot summers?
On the spec sheet for Plasti Dip, it says it's heat resistant up to 200 degrees F
