Love my 8900 PO. I only wear it on the bracelet though as I feel it needs the heft of the bracelet to balance the chunky head.

Agree. Have the rubber strap but use the bracelet 99% of the time.
It does need that weight to balance the head.

I reaceantly aquired the po 39.5 blue dial and it doesn't disappoint. For me it's the best diver out there for a 6.5 inch wrist. With bb58 coming in second.

Love my 43.5 Blue. Yeah, it is big, but honetly thought the hour hand looked too stubby on the 39. Didn't think I could get through that once I thought it so went for the bigger size. Been eyeing up the rubber straps for a while now. Fantastic watch.

I opted for 4 preowned sword hands SMP 300 years ago, I call it "the deep" segment of my collection : the Peter Blake, the Electric Blue, the titanium blue and the titanium black, all sword hands. I spent a total of 10K on them. I added a 1500 SuperOcean Abyss on rubber and glidelock, and feel there's no need for more active divers in my collection. I may add a couple in "the memories" (my vintage collection), and in "the fun" (my allrounders). There's 2 more segments which are complete : "the heritage" and "the formals". "The memories " are the soul of my collection.

I own the perfect ' Summer ' Planet Ocean. Ref 2209-50-00. Orange Bezel 42mm from 2010 and a Seamaster 2254-50 ' Peter Blake ' 41mm from 2009. Both of which over the years Omega have managed to bugger up by increasing the thickness to being akin to wearing a land mine on the wrist with an 'oh look at me ' blingy ceramic bezel. Yes I have tried all the various releases of both models over the past 15 years or so and to me neither have come close to my 'Oldies'. But as ever each to their own I guess.

I love the look of this GMT, but in 43.5mm and 17mm think with the steel bracelet, I think it's the weight that would be the limiting factor for me.

Thanks for the reference number for the new blue strap. I have the PO with an orange bezel and white dial. I have to check if there is also a black version of the new strap. The Omega site isn't really helpful on this matter. I simply entered 3 as the last digit instead of 2 and it appears to be the reference number for the black strap. Also I agree with you: The PO ist an awesome summer watch!!

Nice new strap there - works well. I owned a white dial/orange bezel 43.5 and really like it: great bracelet that compared well with my Subs and Sea-Dwellers; brilliant lume; very accurate and really excellent standard of finish. Barely lost any money at resale. I only sold it to free up box space and it went because the bezel action and date window just annoyed me (petty gripes, but hey...). I'd like to see a toned-down PO with a classic, tool watch vibe (really drawing down on their '60s heritage), with full quarter arabics. For me, the size was fine, but 42mm would be no loss - it is in theory a full pro diver, so it should be big. But the current PO range is getting tired. Beyond the Speedy Pro, I think Omega have leant too much into obvious, trend-led design; which exactly like IWC is crude and chintzy and is starting to dilute their great strengths and heritage. Time to reset, Omega: cull SKUs and get back to basics.

I've got 3 POs, the 2018 olympic blue/red model, the black/orange 3d generation and the full fat orange/gray chrono. Honestly, I wear the chrono more than the other two. I think they're proper heritage model, advancing the design of the old seamaster 300 of the 1960s.

Nice , I preferred the Pelagos LHD myself so I fought that but PO are great. I'm against chronographs on dive watch, it makes the dial.harder to read and visibility is one of the main purposes , regardless of the brand.

I have the white dial SMP300 on the SS strap and the Blue PO Chrono on the blue leather strap with rubber lining, which I am not convinced is a waterproof strap. I’ve had conflicting answers from Omega dealers too, but seems to be ridiculous to put a non waterproof strap on a 600m diver watch 🤷‍♂️
Have a few Speedies too, including an Apollo 8, which was your ‘fault’ after a review of a friend’s watch, IIRC.
Omega are getting into Rolex territory IMHO (availability, price & dealer games), so have not purchased any more!! I remember Omega saying everyone ordering a Snoopy would get one within a year, but I’m still waiting for mine and I ordered almost as soon as release 😂
Just purchased my first Christopher Ward, a C60 Atoll 300 in reef blue, on the blue aquaflex strap!!! It’s a very summery watch, which I am really enjoying currently, and the timekeeping is top notch (1sec/day)

Problem with the PO range is Omega absolutely nailed it with the original lineup in 2008 and it’s been downhill ever since.

  • @SD43.55

Why and how dive watches come standard on a leather strap is beyond me. I don't care that it's treated to be water resistant. Leather and water just don't match. And Omega bracelets, especially the clasps, aren't for me. That said, in 2018 i purchased the Planet Ocean 43.5mm in blue from an Omega Boutique with that exact same rubber strap (on RHS at 0:17), replacing the blue alligator which stayed in the box. First time I've seen another one anywhere and thought they discontinued the strap as it's not on any Omega website (your link goes to some Russian site). it's the best strap for that watch! I stupidly ended up selling the watch a couple of years later after acquiring two rolexes. Missing it though and about to buy the new release in grey.

“Planet Ocean” and “value” are polar opposites, especially at retail. Pre-Owned is the only way to go. The design needs an overhaul - it’s not as cohesive a design as it could be. It’s also far too thick. Speaking as a former owner of the current 43.5m model.

The regular PO has so many issues: to thick and bulky, outside AR coating on the crystal scratches and looks bad after a while in water, the liquid metal bezel is kind of difficult to read and the minute markers after 15 minutes virtually do not exists.
Using a NATO strap is a no-go because its so thick and top heavy.
Better luxury dive watches: SMP300, GlashuetteOriginal SeaQ,JLC Polaris, Rolex SeaDweller.
A Citizen NY0040 is a more logical option for dive watch. I would rather by and Aqua Terra or De Ville for everyday wear with the money.

    • @Koboldius1987

ugly? personal taste. Too thick? Maybe on paper. But the PO in particular looks flatter on the wrist than many Tudors (funny that u chose Tudors as a comparison) or a Sea Dweller. This is because the side case of the PO has a design line (brushed and polished) that perfectly conceals the height, 1 mm makes up the curved sapphire crystal and overall the watch sits well on the wrist. I've had a lot of Tudor watches on my wrist and was often about to buy one. But honestly, in real life, they don't look as high-quality as Omega and Rolex watches. This is my personal opinion. I think they look a bit cheap.
