    That last part is so true, about doing all jobs...🤣 I was an 0481 in the U.S. Marines, and found myself operating nearly every vehicle the U.S. Military... When it comes in, we have to offload it...

    My dad was in the Navy in the early sixties. He spent a year in Vietnam assigned to Naval Intelligence going out on missions with Force Recon. He spent much of that time swimming across rivers alone with nothing but a camera and a pistol (and hoping the Marines would still be there when he swam back).
    I worked with a couple of former Recon Marines in the Intelligence services. They were 100% as good as any of the SEALS, Green Berets, etc. Quality operators all.

      "As Good As" is a relative assessment, But The Certainty Is That Both Are Not to be fucked with, else Tragedy Occurs. A Bad Ass Is A Bad Ass, Is A Bad Ass. Being an Ex Squid, I hold Marines(Force Recon Definitely Included), and Our Navy SEALs in a special spot in my Heart. I served with both and they don't come Any Better. Force Recon does their "Job" extremely Well, and while I don't know every single thing about Recon Marines, Or Navy SEALs, My Opinion, based on what I do know, is that SEALs are Highly Trained in a Vast Multitude of Jobs, while Recon Marines are more "Job Specific" in their training, and that takes Absolutely Nothing Away From Either "Bunch Of Bad Asses"

      @@dwightcurrie8316 As a civilian who doesn't know better, I perfectly know I would be processed from a human being to dead meat within 15 seconds if I am on the wrong side of any "American Operator". So the whole "Service A Vs. Service B" thing is a moot point. All of them are splendid soldiers who have volunteered to man the wall and I am grateful for every single one of them.
      Thank you for your service.

    My understanding (which may be wrong) is that Marine Force Recon operates in support of the United States Marine Corps whereas the Marine Raiders operate in support of US Special Operations Command. And my understanding further goes (and may still be wrong) that Marine Raiders do for US SOCOM what Force Recon does for USMC, which is something like "go do Marine shit until everyone else shows up."

    The reason why every marine has everyone’s job is for the completion of the mission. If your unit is say down a few for casualties someone will take over their responsibilities. We call it cross training.

    My pops was force recon in nam he died a year ago mothers day he was a crazy motherfucker but he raised me well he raised me hard life growing up was like living repeats of fmj and jarhead and platoon it made me hard as fuck even if the marines wont take me because my disabilities i aint the one to be trifled with thanks to that man he musta known what life had in store for me.... ge eventualy sucumbed to addiction no doubt fueled by undiscussed undealt with war demons
    I called it slow suicide for a reason i wish i coulda found a way to stop it but anyobe that knows a force recon marine raider or any otger special maribe knows you cannot change thier mind without having or proving superiority and at 70 barely able to move and everything else i think he woulda still beat my ass

    Back in the 1990’s I worked with 1st Force Recon when I was with 1st SRIG. They looked like normal marines except they would get REALLY mad at you if you talked to their company commander (a full-bird colonel) and NOT be at parade rest or the POA. They kept trying to talk to my company’s 4066s (computer guys) into joining them, but all of the computer nerds were too scared to take the indoc hahaha

    HLC, there are time when Marines will choose to be silent. Those times are when you should really be afraid. Now when we are loud, we have already chosen how you are to die and just want you to know we are coming, want you to run, want you to make mistakes. We want to build the fear.

    Hell, from what I heard, you know how we suddenly had all those coordinates and targets for all those missiles when Hussain went 'nah fam' and we gave the world a demonstration as to why that was a very, very bad idea? Uhh, the first time, with Bush Sr. not Dubbya. Yea, it was Marine Force Recon who went in and painted the targets days ahead of op-day. So yea, apparently Marine Force Recon infiltrated Baghdad, got GPS coordinates for all the relevant strike targets, and got out without anyone knowing, mere days before we'd straight up told them we're gonna rain hell on them.
    Yea, that's the sort of 'Keyhole' missions these guys run. Picked targets for cruise missiles to rain down on. You know, like the one that TV guy saw screaming down a street? Yea, they were heading to coordinates picked out ahead of time by marines. Specifically, Marine Force Recon.

    Force Recon is kinda like SEALs when you need to sneaky sneaky swim in and see what's there, but also bigger unit sizes with more loudenshootyboomers in case you need the firepower of a small Ranger platoon but can't actually wait for the Army to fly dudes in.

    When i was in, there was a joke that some SGT told us about the Air Force. "99.9% of the Air Force ground soldiers are a joke, but there is 0.1% that are the most badass of badass. these guys make force recon look like PFC Kelly over there." (yes, he used me as an example, yes it was hilarious, and yes it still hurts) so....who are these guys? i think the SGT called them Foward Observer, but I think I'm misremembering.

    • @sana__6
      @sana__6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What about Pararescue (PJs)? iirc, their unit's whole mission is to rescue soldiers in deep shit, even beyond the frontlines, exactly like the other spec ops units like the SEALs and Force Recon.
      I think there's also USAF's 24th STS (special tactics squadron, iirc). I think they're also a Tier 1 spec ops unit under SOCOM like SEAL Team 6 and Delta Force, but I don't remember off hand what they specialize in. Maybe they specialize in being forward observers to guide in munitions from USAF assets, unless they and the PJs are the same unit actually, or the unit has both spec ops rescue and weapons guidance as some of their missions.

    • @some1337dude1
      @some1337dude1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He could have meant:
      1) PJs aka para rescue who are airborne guys who are all about personnel recovery
      2) Combat control who are air traffic control and air-to-ground communications for special forces
      3) TACP who are masters of calling in exfil and CAS. If you’re familiar with EDF these guys are basically air raiders

      What does this have anything to do with the video? Nobody makes anyone look like anything. All spec ops units have rigorous pipelines respective to their mission. If anything, Marine Recon has one of the hardest pipelines in the world.
      You have to first become a Marine and finish SOI which is notoriously the hardest basic training. By then you should be a proven fish in the water with advanced swimming qualification that most spec ops units won’t go near; they’re usually basic requirements. Then after that you have to go through a Recon selection screener with multiple events in one day including a rigorous aquatic assessment with cammies on. Then if you get selected after all of this - you have three months of basic reconnaissance course which itself is hell and torture all over again. Then if you pass that after three months - there are follow-on schools like airborne, freefall, and dive school which is arguably the hardest in all of military (socom screener is prerequisite and all aquatic experience by now to get a seat). Not to mention months of sniper school , JTAC, and even Ranger school. They are every bit as qualified if not more qualified than most other units. The only thing is that they belong to Marine Corps, not socom. So don’t throw shade for no reason

    In Vietnam War the US Army Special Forces had A-Teams which in Fortress camps, the USMC had units called CAT these living in the hamlets with the Vietnamese which was not fortresses which got better intelligence of V Cs and NVA operations in I Corp.
