I'm pretty sure that Mattis didn't have a recon company under his command at 7th Marines. 1st Recon Battalion was divested to 1st and 5th Marines with a company each at the regimental level. There was no recon company in 7th that I am aware of unless they were part of the Light Armor guys. Not sure how this guy was a Reconnaissance Marine at 29 palms.
7th Marines had one platoon of recon Marines. So did 5th and 1st Regiments. They were disbanded in 1997 and were sent down to 1st Recon Comany in Pendleton. They had a page in FB. 7th regimental recon (disbanded) I didn’t know this guy. He must have been there before I was there.
Yeah let's be honest if you're rich you're not joining the military, if you grew up in a mansion you're not joining the military. The military is for people who don't have any other choices. People who are rich can use their connections and money to get a cushy job or into a good college and a job after, there is no way they are going to join the military.

He did not say recon is AT 29 palms, he said he was there when he tried again and got picked up.

Everyone always says boot camp is 13 weeks. In 1988 it was 12 weeks
They count the 4 days administrative crap now to make it seem like it’s a week longer.
It was 13 in 1989 counting the receiving before actual training started.
When I went through Parris Island in the 70s it was 13 weeks.
Woke that’s what it is every one passes woke broke
This dudes speech on bootcamp is so cliche it's cringe.
