Happy to hear him talk about assumed self diagnosis and the fact we do not need supplements. "Don't knee jerk to what somebody tells you on the internet." Best advice ever. So many folks think they are experts. So happy to just listen to this doctor.

Actually, most of us do know better than others what is going on with ourselves. For me, the night that something felt off causing me to google heart attack symptoms, saved my life. Even the paramedics said i was only having a panic attack but the EKG said otherwise

You should look at those who lead by example & put their money where their mouth might be. It's not a self diagnosis if that "somebody" happens to be a US-born carnivore for 20+ years, looks like a greek god, was a professional rugby player, started his medical training when he was 15, & is currently a neurosurgeon in Perth, Austrailia (Dr. Anthony Chaffee/PlantFreeMD). Easy solution, just use your eyes & ears. Would you listen to a fat or sick doctor? Naive and ignorant people depend on direct information to parrot. If you take years, like me, to study from multiple avenues of learning (books, podcasts, film) you can come to your own conclusions. Dr. Cywes does have some good information, but f#$@ dairy if you're trying to kick the addictions associated with carb and sugar consumption. Among other addictions one may have in the modern world.
What's the difference between my doctor halfway around the world, that I chose, and your doctor that lives close to you? You've essentially handed out the responsibility of your own health to someone else just because they have a degree and a receptionist assigned doctor readily available. You should shop for doctors just as hard as you shop for (name your vice here). Good Luck!

The beauty of being fat adapted and carnivore is being in touch with one's appetite. I know what I am craving, need and do not need. I now have the odd desire for liver, oysters and/or hard cheese. My body is so much more intelligent than I give credit to. It knows what it wants and needs.

So true about people trying to sell a product. I totally understand people needing to make money, and people wanting to get rewarded for the work they put in a book, but some are just in it for a quick buck. Here's my perspective, if they are giving me 20% of the information and say, "read my book for the rest," I walk away. If they give me 80% and say, "the more precise details are in my book," I listen to them, then decide. If they give it all to me and say, "here's everything you need but if you want to support me, purchase my book." I'll buy their book. (if the information is pertaining to me.) Dr Berry is a great example this. He tells you everything you need! Same with Dr Chaffee and this Dr. They are here to help and not sell a bunch of supplements with their face on it.

I had 2 children in span of 3 years by age 28. Had a severe blockage of gallbladder and emergency surgery to remove gallbladder. This was back in 1987. My mother had hers out when she was 26 after 4 babies in 5 years. I saw a magazine article years ago questioning whether or not there is a connection between pregnancy hormones and gallstones.
Wish I knew more about the causes and natural treatments instead of removal

Interesting, I had a similar situation. Diagnosed with gallstones at 22, but they would not remove it. Took pills to dissolve them. Fast forward a few years later, had 3 more children every 2 years and massive gallstone issue. They removed it at tied my tubes...my gallbladder burst due to the stone being so large. this was 25 years ago. Over past 25 years I've lost about 130 pounds, gained some back, lost gained, lost, now 40 from goal. I started Keto about 4 or 5 years ago, switched to Carnivore, 4 surgeries in that time, on and of and now slowly working my way back to Ketovore/Carnivore, due to Fructans Intolerance, Lactose and chronic fatigue. I just can't or won't' give up.

The reason why Dr. Cywes advises some people to cut back on the fat, and increase meal frequency, is based on their blood results. Some carnivores obviously are not eating the right percentages of macronutrients, which puts them out of whack, and that's what he is addressing.

I think it took members of my household anywhere from a week to six weeks. Just a heads up though, to much electrolytes will cause diarrhea, and if you get constipated try salt. Good luck!

I will have to go back and listen to the whole video again. I started LCHF almost 2 years ago. At one point, my blood work was getting better (except LDL which elevated almost immediately and getting higher and higher as I eat less carbs). My last A1C was higher (5.8), 2 hours postprandial blood glucose also elevated. It makes a lot of sense what Dr. Cywes said in this video. I will have to adjust what I eat and how I eat.

    • @bettywhill
      @bettywhill ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@johnf.hebert1409 add back some healthy carbs such as blueberries, manuka honey (just a tiny bit each time) and sweet potatoes. Relaxed my intermittent fasting window. Just had my blood work done and found out I have hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue so reduced exercise to walking and light aerobic (keep heart rate under 120) and avoid exhaustion. So far fiver prick blood test are within normal range. Have to wait a few month to test A1C and lipid panel again.

@@patrickh709eating a half cup of homemade yogurt each morning helped but when i stopped the loose bowels came back. Working on cutting out coffee to see if that is my issue. And FYI.. it wasn't yeast infection but just a hormone imbalance. Thanks for asking.

According to Dr. Stephen Phinney when you lower carbs below 50 grams a day your kidneys stops retaining sodium and dumps it and then potassium. Low carb diets are diuretic in nature. He recommends adding some extra salt and Potassium especially when active as he deals with fat adapted athletes. He also recommends addressing any magnesium deficiency because magnesium is needed for potassium to enter one's cells. If one' is magnesium is deficient it can lead to potassium deficiency. Some people are taking magnesium that is not bioavailable. Think one of the best forms is magnesium glycinate which also does not cause diarrhea. Magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium work together. You need enough of all of them each day. The amount one needs will differ from person to person.

Great content! One small mention though, carnivores sometimes eat the belly first simply because they feel that is the vulnerable spot of their prey, and attack there first. It’s like when you have a piece of whole fish with spine on your plate, you start with the softer parts first, not going for the little meat covering the bone.

"Glucose and ascorbic acid are closely related and have similar chemical structures. They compete for glucose transporters in the cell membrane and are escorted into the cells by the action of the hormone insulin.
We now know that too much glucose not only inhibits the transport of vitamin C into cells, including phagocytic leukocytes, but it also inhibits the stimulation of other processes that are important for the immune system. This competition may explain why large doses of ascorbic acid are necessary to overcome inhibition by glucose."

Second vid I have stumbled up with Dr Cywes - very enlightening!!! Thank you so much. I have been pondering how one can actually help people with blood / bio feedback tests to help people start to look at their metabolic health much much earlier in their lives. Not found anyone in Joburg or SA for that matter that can do this. I would love to be involved in setting this up in South Africa, their is a massive need, of course, lol..... PS please let me know if there is a way your team can tell me the tests to order from a lab in SA and to send over to your team and get feedback and let your team help me interpret where my metabolic health is at. I am in South Africa. Thank you.

Not sure about the fat and salt shortages. I know whenever I have too much protein, constipation follows, and with too much fat it goes the other way. Been pretty easy to keep things in line using that measuring stick. I also get headaches when I am not consuming enough salt (or some thing int he salt). I switch between sea salt, kosher salt, table salt and Himalayan salt in my meals to vary the mineral consumption. So far so good at over 100 days. Not sure where fat adaptation comes in, but I believe I'm pretty close, given my decreased appetite and increased energy and function as I continue to lose weight steadily.
