how to fix foggy windows on 2010 dodge caravan and other cars.

  • This is a frustrating issue caused by not getting fresh air into the cab which is usually because of a broke electronic actuator. This video shows how to bypass the electronics by finding the fresh air door under the dash and manually opening to allow fresh air to enter the cab. This video shows you the specifics on my 2010 dodge caravan. On other cars, your fresh air door should be on the inside firewall under the dash somewhere near your cabin air filter. Find it and manually open it. Good luck.

Thanks for this video! I've been having the same issue with foggy windows in my Town and Country and have looked for an explanation. I did as you suggested, removed just the bottom glove box, cut out some of the cage and closed the door. I verified the door wasn't moving and was stuck open. Seems to work beautifully. Thanks for taking the time to share this bit of knowledge!

    Andy,
This was just the fix I needed. I thought my recirculation door was working as I could hear it when I pressed the button but my windows fogged and frosted like never before. I lowered the lower glove box door, cut the plastic like you showed and pulled the door down and now all is good. I'll add a little duct tape tomorrow when it warms up. Thanks again!

Thank you for posting this, it worked perfectly, I just lowered the lower glove box door and cut the plastic mesh like you did, and pulled the re-circ door into the fresh air position and put a couple screws through the plastic housing to keep the door from moving.

Andy ,thank you so much.I live in central NY and i fought the fog problem all winter last year.Your video showed me this quick fix.I was even lazier and just pried the plastic hinges out on the lower glove box instead of removing it ,I just reached in over the top of it.I cut that plastic cage like you showed me and pulled that cover shut. Also put a piece of duct tape on it to make sure it stayed closed.Clear windows now.

THANK YOU for doing this. My door is stuck in the Fresh Air position, so my A/C Max is not as cold as it should be. If I'm able to get to the Actuator and it requires replacement, I will post a video of how it's done. I have several automotive how-to videos already posted.

Greetings everyone who found my video useful. I need to tell you,, I hit a bump while backing my car slightly uphill and my windows started fogging again. That "bump" knocked the fresh air door shut again. So I manually opened it again accessing thru the lower glove box. This time I used a little duck tape to hold it open (down).
It is normal for your widows to fog up some during heavy rains.

How about if u use those plastic ties ...around the door and keep it down...or put coat hanger from those small holes from one side to other and bend down to keep it lock..tight downward???

I have two town and country vans. They both started fogging up. I suppose this may be a contributing factor in my case, but I think mine is working. I saw another video and the gentleman bought 10 ft of 3M mastic tape and applied it half touching the glass and half covering the plastic trim that rests on the outside of the windshield. In both of my vans the fogging stopped. I can't explain it, but it worked. About 2years now on one van and 1 year on the other. Just hoped this comment may help someone.

I removed the fan, and was able to close that door from there. Very simple job! Just remove 2 tabs holding a trim covering under the glove box, then 3 screws hold the fan in place. Then you have access to the door. I closed it, and taped it shut. I don't know why the door wasn't working, but I don't think I have a need to ever recirculate.

good comment. it's the 2nd comment on removing the 3 screws of the blower motor as an alternative to cutting thru the plastic cage.
