      @Josh Jaques my 2012 the heat and ac work fine on every setting except the floor...so i was thinking i needed to change 1 of the 3 blend door actuators , but now i am wondering -- i don't hear any clicking and every direction of heat/cold works blown in any direction except those on the floor (so EG, if its a combo button for windshield and floor, it only blows windshield , not floor , if its floor & and forward heat/cold out of vent dash + floor...only get forward air out of vents not the floor ) . So i'm wondering if this might be something in the control panel (ie the panel with the buttons and knobs? ) My fan speed also works perfectly when i dial it up higher or lower , the only thing that doesn't work is when i set the hot or cold towards the floor, otherwise it all works perfect.

    awesome vid on the locations and telling us they are all the same! If yours just clicks, take it apart (clips) and if you find the black splined drive gear has a broken tooth, just grind the spline opposite the missing spline location and fit the gear back in so the broken tooth is on opposite side of white drive gear. The splined gear only rotates 90 degrees so this makes it so it will never reach the broken tooth again.

    I just changed out the driver's side actuator and it was not easily accessible at all but I did get the job done. I had to start sitting outside of the van with my arm under the steering wheel and then proceed to wiggle my way to the floor board so I could partially see the part. I could only see the top screw from that angle but felt my way around for the bottom screw. I am 6'3" though so it might be easier for smaller people.

    So I watched a few videos. And finally fixed my issue of having passenger side hot all the time. Disconnect power to van at battery. I pulled the furthest actuator. Looked at it and it was good, gears we're good. hook power to it and turn gear to the arrow on outside of actuator. Move the hot cold blend door with your hand to make sure that isn't stuck. I believe I turned it clockwise till it stopped. And reinstalled after. Hooked power back up to van. Bam. Do not take the screws out for black housing unless u want a big problem putting gears and lever back in place! My actuator was out of alignment and was not turning anymore. I suspect the blend door was stuck on hot because there is a rubber flap that melts like glue to the housing. But after aligning actuator and gear everything went back to normal. Ac on the passenger side again. So if your actuators are testing good. Try to realign and reinstall

    Thanks for sharing, man. I'm having this same issue on my Dodge Grand Caravan, but mine is on the driver's side. I had it replaced in the summer of 2020 and it went out a week later, so the shop replaced it again. It then went out a couple of months later and I have not messed with it since. What irritates me with this issue, is that it will blow freezing cold air during the winter and hot air during the summer. Absolutely ridiculous. I'll order one of these and just replace the part myself this time to save a ton of money.

    Have a blinking yellow light in your AC controls? Remove both battery terminals (please use safety equipment) and touch them together. You are resetting the internal computer with this process. Terminals should make direct contact for a few seconds. Once done reconnect terminals to the proper battery posts, black goes to ( - ) and red goes to ( + ). Hope this works for you. It worked on my '15 Caravan.

  • @rupe53
    @rupe53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Tip: The blend door actuator (close to the dash) can be removed easier if you take out the screw that on the top left at 1:43 then find the lower screw for the motor bracket on the bottom. The bracket is held by three screws but removing two allows you to pull out a little and swing the bracket for access to the bottom motor screw. Be advised to tread lightly as it's easy to have all the rods / cams fall apart like a swiss watch. NOW.... BEFORE you get too far into this... only pull the actuators if they click / make noise. If you are experiencing one side stuck in hot or cold mode, try this first. Heater / AC running, then twist both temp knobs full hot / full cold slowly. Repeat 4-6 times. Now see if everything works correctly. I'm told this will sync the controls to the motors without having to use a scan tool. I'm told this is a common problem and so far, it's worked twice for me. BTW, working one knob doesn't do the trick. Use two hands and do both knobs at the same time.

Do we hold both temp controls at the same time moving each simultaneously to the right, then back to the left and that constitutes the first attempt, then do it again 6 times the same? I didn't have the right wrench to get to the screw at 2:00. I was actually able to drill a small whole through the plastic and metal bracket and use an allen key to get the screw out without taking apart the dash (or buying the tool). All that to find out he actuator works perfectly using your test. I'm guessing the issue might be the climate control panel not sending the voltage to the actuator.

    Any idea where the temperature sensors are located for the dual side climate control? All my valves run appropriately but I continually have to bump my driver's side 1 degree warmer, warmer, warmer to keep it from rolling back to too cold. 30 minutes in full hot blows full hot, one degree cooler (85° setting) it rolls back to quite cold air blowing.
    Similar problem in summer with AC running (I think I had to roll it colder and colder though?) Maybe an airflow blockage close to the sensor but all vents seem to blow fine.

      Hello fellow Grand Caravan owners. So believe it or not the way to fix this issue is very simple. The first thing you should do is disconnect the negative terminal. Once the terminal has been disconnected cover it with a rag to prevent it from touching metal. The next step is to disconnect the red cable, again please be safe. The next step is to touch both the red terminal to the black terminal. Don't worry you won't cause a fire. All you are doing is resetting the internal computer so that it cleans the memory. Now here is where I've seen some discrepancies. I've heard it takes seconds to reset and I've heard people say it takes 15 minutes. Personally I did this with my '15 caravan for about 10 seconds and it worked. Yes it sounds strange but it does work.

    when you used the battery to move the actuator, does it just continuously spin or does it stop at a point? So in other words do you have to rewind it before replacing or it wont work right. Like all the way clockwise is open and all the way counter clockwise is closed or doesn't matter.

      If I remember correctly it just spins forever. The computer figures out where it needs to be once you re-install it, it calibrates it

    No. 30 dollars will not get you quality. Do not buy Dorman. Replace it with a Mopar part. Dorman will have to be replaced at least once a year. Drop the 90 bucks and get quality. I've bought 2 already. One for the rear and one for the passenger side upper location.

      @@michaelzernie7092 not every dealership is a crook. and considering they fought with head office last year to get covered under warranty I will disagree. typically I avoid dealerships. and they did use the oem parts lol. btw the other shops were going to cost more even if I had paid full price. and they have charged full for used parts so dont trust many shops around here next one will do myself and will buy cheap parts. rather 1 year for 30$ then 1-2 years at 100+ for the mopar (in canada the parts are not as cheap as In states) dealership is about 400 other shops closer to 5 because of labor rates. I never said they know everything. what I do know is the oem parts have issues as shown by many forums and mechanics dealing with the issue for over a decade. with different model years. oem has a poor quality part for this piece why spend extra.
