  • Freddy gets the 1UZ swapped Lexus IS300 finally driving. He figures out the problem with the clutch master cylinder, finishes the AC lines and begins to street tune the ECU but has a hiccup at the end!

    The Altezza Gita (IS300 Sportcross) was the only Altezza with a 2JZ, and it came optional with AWD! No manual, sadly.

    FYI, just remove the power steering pulley to remove/ install the alternator. No need to pull the whole pump.
    If you still have alternator issues, I bet that fuse you destroyed is related. Replace that fuse. It bolts in from the bottom

    The dash looks super cool with the tablet. It makes your build feel like a DIY Lexus IS500 when you keep it looking modern.
    Once you get this thing thru some more R&D I think it would be cool to try and integrate that tablet with live data and as a radio.
    I bet this thing would be an amazing daily

    Thats a bolt on fuse for ABS because I have to replace that fuse.

  • @VegasAlex702
    @VegasAlex702 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can probably wire the abs to the cluster to make the speedo work. It's just one wire from the abs computer under the dash to the cluster. I just did this for a local guy and it fixed his speedo on his IS300.

    The idle speed motor maybe old or has a different voltage then its use to. And also this car is going to be cool as.

      I don't believe the Spitronics ECU is controlling the idle motor

      @@PoorManMods well something has to be. Has to play off the throttle position sensor or the air intake or map. I don't know anything about Toyotas. Has to be something like that

    • @chetgoodenough8749
      @chetgoodenough8749 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoorManMods so that confirms I don't know anything about Toyota. I was just going threw the check list of dodge magnum motors. They have that problem all the time. Sorry to waste your time with that. But still could be those O rings on the butterfly pin leaking air behind the throttle. Otherwise no idea. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

  • @bobbuilder5362
    @bobbuilder5362 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not how you set the idle. But live and learn I guess. For a tonne of 1UZ stuff you should follow the Car tune company in NZ.

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      Then how do you set the idle

    • @bobbuilder5362
      @bobbuilder5362 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoorManMods Well not sure what your idle speed was ? A factory ecu controls idle through the throttle motor, earlier one 1UZ is with a IACV similar to your 1J. Basically it is a no no to change any of the the throttle stops, idle adjustments manually as these are all set from factory. You need to set the idle through the ecu and control the throttle motor.

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobbuilder5362 the Spitronics does not have idle control programmed for the 1uzvvti. So there is currently no idle control that can be done other than the idle screw on the throttle body. I would have to buy an aftermarket idle motor and wire it up

    • @bobbuilder5362
      @bobbuilder5362 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoorManMods Ok, wasn't sure on the Spitronics. Looks like the Mercury can do single and dual wire idle valve control. Might be worth investing in.

    How did your steering rack lateral shift mod work out? I'm sure it works, but curious if there's going to be any unforseen side effects like bump steer?

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      It drove perfectly fine but I wasn't doing any spirited driving.

    • @Shazzaka
      @Shazzaka ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoorManMods Awesome, can't wait for a full review. 1 inch lateral shift on the column shouldn't be enough to cause any significant anomalies, but every cars suspension is different and some are more susceptible so please be careful when you do decide to test it at high speed

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shazzaka there shouldnt be a change in anything. The rack moved, but the out tie rods compensated for the movement.

    • @Shazzaka
      @Shazzaka ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PoorManMods If you shift the axis of rotation for the tie rods by 1 inch laterally as you did it will get a bump steer effect.
      Say your tie rods are 12" stock and you shift the rack 1", then you compensate by installing an 11" rod and a 13" rod. There won't be any problems as long as the rods are parallel to the horizon, however as the suspension rises and falls (as you encounter bumps in the road) the rods will pivot at slightly different rates. The effect increase with the angle of the rod. For example, at 30 degrees off horizon the 11" rod will toe in 3.5mm while the 13" rod will toe out 3mm. The effect is amplified by the castor.
      I'm not sure what the IS300 has for castor so I can't say for certain how big of an effect you'll experience, but there WILL be a bump steer anomaly. What remains to be seen is how noticeable the effect will be if any.

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      We will see what happens, I didn't notice anything on the 20 miles I drove. I was doing mainly back roads, some bumps and got up to 60 mph and didn't notice anything YET atleast

    This build is definitely not worth doing, gotta take all that shit off just to get to the alternator?🤦🏾‍♂️ Forget that I'd probably just do a NA 2jz build or just GTE swap🤪

    • @PoorManMods
      @PoorManMods  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha 🤣 so far I'm in love with the swap. I'll go into more details in a video but in my opinion..if you want more power but you want your car to be more of a daily driver and street car, I think the UZ swap is the way to go. If you're looking for extreme power and want to drag race or drift the car I'd NA-T or GTE is the way to go. But the way this car drives with the UZ is amazing and this is the engine it should have came with. It greatly improved the driving experience all around and just made it so much easier to drive
