    The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. We are also a LINK ecu dealer so can assist with parts and Information for the LINK. We've done a few 1UZ swaps here in the U.S. Two with 1st gen motors, and 1 with a 2nd gen non-VVTi engine. The first gen swaps were simple enough, because the computers don't care about about the missing automatic and the check engine light stays off. The 2nd gen swap is a bit annoying though. The engine runs great, but the check engine light is permanently on. We wired up the OBD-2 port, and there's always ~7 codes or so for the missing automatic. It's not the end of the world since the engine runs well, but it would be nice to have a check engine light that lights up when there's actually a problem with the motor.
    Not sure if you have any idea about that? From what I understand, the U.S.-spec 2nd Gen OBD2 1UZ ECUs tend to be very picky about the automatic being there or not.

      Hello. Im already onto it. I've only seen a few obd2 usdm spec ecus (maybe 20-25) and have one coming for some testing and I'm thinking I can apply some vvti tricks to it to solve the issues. Its on my list for 2020. Cheers Kelvin

    Maybe I know the origin of this myth. My ECU turnded out to have leaking capacitors. I then found just an older one ECU that I had to rewire because it had paired injectors. The MAF sonsor is also different. All that trouble made me to use an aftermarket ECU.

    I'm having issues with my 94 1uz manual Soarer idle dropping after it has been driven for about a mile. The idle will drop them the car turns off. After that I start it back up and it idols fine until I drive it another mile. As long as I keep my foot on the accelerator when I'm coming to a stop it won't shut off on me. Is that easy you related or should I adjust the idle?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally this issue is due to a run done idle control system, or other engine running fault which causes poor idle or its incorrectly wired from doing the manual swap. Guys tend to misunderstand the relationship between the nss and nsw in the vehicle and the ecu. When I do a manual swap I always leave the factory idle settings. Hi again, wondering what ecu you'd recommend for a stock 1uz vvti with a 5 speed 3l d4d manual gearbox. The swap was done on my van but at the time i was not informed on what exactly was done to make everything run (2016-2017). Of all my issues my main worry was that there is no obd port where i could have access to read error codes. Looked down at the exhaust and found out that there were no oxygen sensors connected as well. The car runs but i feel it's really low on power besides the bad ratio of the van i put it in. Have never dynoed it. It starts after 1 kick and doesn't do anything erratic.
    So my questions include
    Standalone ECU you recommend to prepare for forced induction.
    How i could read codes on the ecu because i believe there are issues with power.
    Best ratio you'd recommend as my ratio is too short (4.55) and i was thinking of a 3.89 ratio.
    Thanks again.

      @4NDR01D5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The EGR looks to a thermistor to trick the egr code to go away wire it high resistance when egr vsv has no power (ground switched) but with the ecu egr vsv wired to a relay run a lower resistor simulating a hot thermister to the otherside of the relay that is all because in closed loop the ecu tunes from the O² sensors then you can block off the egr flow completely and keep egr codes clear, for removing cats the best thing to do is run the secondary O² sensors through sparkplug defoulers extended out of the direct exhaust stream but you can also use a high resistance diode tap the left and right primary O² sensors each with a diode then coil and resistor bridge network to drop the oxygen readings to give the car a good cat efficiency reading then those codes will go away also

      Is there a simple way to do that?
      It is getting fuel to the injectors, I can smell it when cranking the engine.
      I changed the fuel pump as it was ceased. The only way I can make the fuel pump work atm is to bridge the b+ and fp terminals.
      The igniters only work by pulling the circuit up using a test light, by doing so as the engine is cranking I can get spark. It's like it isn't sending any feedback back to the ecu. Possibly crank sensors?
