  • My 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, aka The Diva, was swapped from a 5eat automatic to a Spec-B 6-speed manual. Here is a little video of that 2 year long process. It doesn't go into super detail about the how to, but does give some guidance on what to expect, and is a fun adventure. Thanks to Team Rip Engineering for the built Spec B transmission. Thanks to Boxer Automotive for the swap, and thanks to ‪@JEMSportspec‬ for the wiring and tune!
Full dyno video to drop in the next week!

Is it worth swapping it over? I am from the uk and have an important estate with a 5eat and want to go manual too!

I think it definitely depends on your situation. It is very time consuming and also very expensive. I probably spent close to 15k USD swapping this over. You can do it for less if you do the work and don't go for an aftermarket ECU or fully built transmission, but it'll probably still be between 5-10k USD when done. My car already had a ton of work done to it and was a rust-free example so to me it was worth the cost and hassle. If you've already got a vehicle that's kind of rusty or maybe doesn't have a ton done to it, you might be better off selling your car and buying a manual transmission version if you can find one.
