Another childhood classic abit little lighter Conan but still the badass we love still love this movie
80s fantasy is probably my favourite genre - and I have to say I equally enjoy Destroyer and Barbarian, for different reasons. Barbarian is like an existential journey of a man seeking revenge on a God - it's badass and epic but can be a little dry and sluggish at times. Destroyer is way more Fantasy forward, and I love the very 80s effects, like the animated dragon, the miniature mammoth skeleton. Its just a beginning to end fun time and the grin on my face never leaves. However, it also has some tonal whiplash where it was apparently shot with an R rated level of violence, but edited down to be accessible for kids. I give both an equal 4.5/5, I utterly love them both (even Red Sonja, which might be my favourite of the three). Destroyer is just so charming.

The story and characterization in Destroyer are weak compared to Barbarian but as a light-hearted adventure film, it's a fun, goofy time. I have to disagree with you about Mako though. It seems like he has a bigger role in Destroyer and more opportunities to show what he can do

I saw both of these in the theater. Barbarian was amazing. Destroyer..well it felt like that Sinbad movie,eye of the tiger?
I HATED Mako’s intro speech in Destroyer compared to the awesome delivery
in Barbarian. It sounds so flat and just reeled off in a cigarette break. I didn’t mind Destroyer. It was fun and Hey it’s better than Red Sonya ( Yes another guilt pleasure too). Fun fact : UK wrestler Pat Roach played the red cloaked wizard/ monster. He was in all 3 of the original Indiana Jones movies as big burly henchmen including the bald German who went through the propellers and Thugee guard who went through the rock crusher!

4 commentary tracks? jeez lol. thats alot but Cabin Fever for DVD had like 5 commentary tracks
this one’s my favorite because it has a better protagonist in my opinion
Sarah Douglas is definitely easier on the eyes!
I love this movie I agree with Roger Ebert in terms I think it is better than the original
