    To me, this movie was abysmally bad. The investment town theme premise was absurd, the characters had zero sympathy (except for maybe the lead person), I don't think they know what a deed is or what the chain of it means, the lines were cringy ("You're cancelled, dude!"), Sally's lines were too ("Say my name!!" - how would Leatherface know her name, or even speak?). It had gore, okay, but so do a lot of movies. This was...quite bad.

    The brutal kills were the only thing that sparked the film for me, however, the way how the writers and directors handled Sally’s character was very disrespectful and pointless, especially that she’s a legacy returning character after 50 years later. It was like they knew the movie wasn’t going to be good, so they they made this sequel to the continuation of the 1973 film out be a complete joke, unoriginal story plots, unoriginal character lines, development and just threw away Sally’s character in the trash literally. The Movie should have been called “ The Bulgaria Chainsaw Massacre” considering it wasn’t even filmed in Texas. They should’ve name it that and made it something similar to the franchise, but with a whole new story. like how the 1973 was once introduced to us.

    I enjoyed the film. I must say I don’t want my opinion to seem divisive but watching this film I couldn’t help but see the movie as a statement of the resentment that many Texans have towards the many newcomers to the state that are seen a liberal and whose actions seek to change the culture of the state. For instance the comments about gun culture and the rebel flag. These are real life issues where newcomers and native Texans have clashed over. That is how I saw it and truthfully I laughed at it. Yes, I am a native Texan, take that as you will. Also, according to IMDB the movie was shot in Bulgaria. Great review Pizowell.

A few cool kills, but didn’t move me beyond that. Appreciate your review though Pizowell. I agree, about leather face being the hero. We were rooting for him the whole time. Thought he looked great too. At least it was better than the Nightmare on Elm street remake, but that’s not saying much. I see this being divisive for sure. Haha

    I'm with you on this one Piz, I thought it was a lot of fun and some of the kills were brutal and caught me off guard. It's definitely the best one since the remake. With low expectations more or less unanimous from all camps prior to release I'm surprised with why so many people trashing it. The Cinematography and soundtrack were very solid too. I'm intrigued to know exactly what the original cut of the film was like, hopefully it'll see the light of day eventually.

    • @pizowell

      I have a feeling there's lots of footage that was excised, particularly after the test screenings, leading to the film being as lean and mean as it is. I'm hoping for a Blu-ray with a director's commentary, etc.

  • @MalitiaHDOfficial

    I completely agree with you 100%. Im going to go on a limb here and say that this movie did the legacy character so much better than halloween 2018 and its sequel did. The biggest issue i always had with the new halloween movies was how forced the relationship between michael and laurie felt. Since the only cannon movie in that series is the original, it doesnt make sense for michael to give a shit about laurie.
    In the other hand, this movie properly sets up sallys trauma from loosing her friends and brother as well as the torture she endured herself. She isnt a badass in this movie, she is a victim trying to find answers to why everything happened to her and why she ia still alive. The scene where she realizes that all this time she lost sleep and years of her life, reliving the horrible memories, leatherface had moved on and had no concept of the terrible shit he had done. Either that or he did not care to remember. This also builds on leatherfaces character by showing that he just acts moment to moment when he feels he needs to protect something. This wasnt a targeted attack. It was all led by chance.

    • @jeremydrew1227
      @jeremydrew1227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you pay attention to H2018 Michael was unaware of Laurie and was brought to her by Dr. Sartain's obsession with their pseudo relationship. Allyson explains this in Kills.

    • @MalitiaHDOfficial
      @MalitiaHDOfficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeremydrew1227 i know but, thats something that was not pointed out until the sequel. And even in kills laurie keeps mentioning how "its me he wants". They really walk around the whole idea not commiting but also not backing out. The idea that the trilogy ia building up to this face off again just goes to show that they cant let go of the idea of laurie amd michael being connected.
      On the other hand, this movie shows an attempted faceoff that ends super quick because leatherface is just moving on to his next target. He truly does not care about sally.

    I like the movie but the writers made it convenient for Leatherface to kill someone by making them do a weird decision
    And was kinda upset at the fact that the character that survives could've died three times (running away, floor dodge, and water scene)

    idk if this can top biel, brewster or d'addario for sequels but i really enjoyed it and when i thought it was too woke/pc the ending saved it 6.5/10

    I dont get how you can be a fan of the original and like this? The original was a slow angstridden masterpiece. Not especially violent on screen.. Texas chainsaw has always been about family. Not some lone Jason killer. It was a discrace,,, And bringing Sally back? Why? It wasnt even the same actress..meant nothing…

    • @pizowell
      @pizowell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original film is what it is: a masterpiece. This is the 8th sequel to a franchise that really didn't need to be a franchise. And for an 8th sequel, I thought it was a blast.

      @dukedoomASMR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pizowell i kinda understand. But wouldnt it have been alot better to get a sequel who felt like a TCSM movie instead of a Friday the 13th. Splatter and gore can be fun but the original was never about that.. thats what i mean..

    In my opinion I’d go
    Original TCM
    TCM 2003
    TCM 2022
    This new film was actually quite entertaining and brutal I think some elements of the story could of been done a little better.
    But the cinematography was beautiful loved that grainy 70s layer over the film the tones felt perfect in the colors.
    Easily the best chainsaw sequel since 2003

    Just curious, do you own the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake special edition 2-Disc DVD that opens up long revealing a chainsaw? It also came with a red and black metal sign of the artwork. I still have mine when I bought it the day it was released years ago. I love that metal sign!

    I love that this film lived up to its name. Usually the body counts have never been really high in the Tcm films and have never lived up to Massacre. Oh boy this movie changed that and woke? Really? The woke characters get cut tf up in this movie.

    Was actually disappointed! He was able to doge shot gun bullets by running, isnt he mortal too? So then he can just get shot and drowned and then come back? The ending was terrible too just the way he shows back up. And the way he is just able to disappear out of nowhwere he's pretty fast for a bugger guy

    If I went and paid to see this at a theater, which I would have, I would have been upset. I really wanted to see the house, or the ruins of the old house, moving him into town misses out on a major creep factor as the old house is just as much a character as Leatherface is. Sally was a waste of a character in this. I don't know if they were already paralleling Halloween too much and using her more would have been too much a Laurie Strode thing, but what little role she played, it would have been better just to remove her altogether. The "ambulance" ride was screaming Halloween and they really should have done something different it was just too much alike. The party bus millennials was hilarious, them using their phones was just perfect. There were a few moments I liked, the kills were brutal very much like a Rob Zombie Michael Myers. Leatherface is big, strong, and mad. The effects were well done and the kills were brutal. It almost felt like a Rob Zombie movie. Overall for using one of the most iconic characters in horror movie history I was disappointed that this was the best they could come up with.

    If I had to rank TCM2022, I would put it at 3. The gore was fucking brutal and Leatherface doesn’t care at this point what he has to do. He does it no matter what Bc these people killed his only person who took care of him for over 50 years and took over his land. He is mad, he is hungry, and he is revving. It has the feeling of Texas and has the look of what Leatherface would look like 50 years later. And by far, TCM2022 is definitely rank 3

    In my opinion It was blah lol I didn't hate it or like it , the kills are cool but I really just don't care about anyone in the film or one or two of them I actually didn't like at all. And I they definitely should have not had Sally in it , it was pointless. In my opinion, also I think in the series its above the last one they did but again for me just blah lol Great Video 👍

    I loved it and as a fellow southern boy I'm ready for the sequel to introduce us to more family members. Wouldn't it be great if we have Bill Moseley in the sequel. Chop Top is great and all, but wouldn't it be awesome if Bill was playing Drayton or even his son at this point. The cold open could even take place at his bbq restaurant.

    Hello Pizz, glad you liked it but to me it was a so so sequel honestly. Maybe I had too many expectations. The mayhem in the bus was really gory I have to admit and Leatherface does things you would not expect like... a set up (near the end when he puts his chainsaw but he is Not there, he was hiding) Really average sorry.

    Couldn’t agree more about the “wokeness” of the movie. Those complaining about it being woke should pay closer attention to the themes you mentioned. The girls at the beginning complaining about guns only to be saved by them later in the film, the slaughter of hipsters on the bus, trying to change an old conservative town into a liberal paradise, etc. This movie is, like you said, anti-woke if anything!
