Red Sonja is a 1985 Dutch-American epic sword and sorcery film directed by Richard Fleischer and written by Clive Exton and George MacDonald Fraser. It is based on the character of the same name, created by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith, who itself is based mainly on the character Red Sonya of Rogatino, created by Robert E. Howard.
The film introduces Brigitte Nielsen as the title character, with Sandahl Bergman, Paul Smith, Ronald Lacey, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in supporting roles. - บันเทิง
Not gonna lie I was expecting a Rant but hey I like surprises
Everyone knows the Conan movies but not a lot of people have seen Red Sonya. Great review Matt!
The earliest Arnold film I remember seeing as a kid and then Predator... before learning his name with Twins. What’s infamous about this film that I don’t think many people know about without looking up, is that Brigitte would reveal over 25 years later when Arnold’s affair(s), illegitimate child and divorce all came to light, was that they had an affair during production on Red Sonja while he was then-dating Maria. However she claims that she never would have slept with Arnold had she known he was gonna marry Maria. I also read that Arnold would make his kids watch this as punishment whenever they got in trouble.
Brigitte Nielsen is excellent as red sonja. 😀👍
This movie is underrated. I love that the movie does not take itself seriously and has plenty of re watch value
Matt they were going to remake this with Rose Mcgowan back in the 2000's but they cancelled it. There are teaser posters online with her on the poster.
And It still would've for sure been an Inferior movie even then 20 years ago but prob better than any attempt now. Any remake even attempted nowdays Is guarunteed horrible ,
especially If It's an 80's movie. People don't have that Imaginative magic anymore. I'm just glad they didn't remake Big Trouble In Little China! with The Rock.. talk about a train wreck.

I grew up with everything Arnold from Conan the Barbarian to Terminator 3 I love them all! I do think this is underrated even for a movie a lot of people don’t care for. For me I like Conan the Destroyer then Red Sonja then Conan the Barbarian. Nobody will probably agree with me but that’s just the young Arnold fan I was 20 years ago! I also think Raw Deal is terribly underrated and I l once that movie! Good review
Ahhh the Great Dane. This was a fun if a little silly with the Conan cast.
I'm real surprised this wasn't a rant , but happy because this movie has been a guilty pleasure since i was a kid , and to me It's at least better than Conan The Destroyer ( horrible follow up ).
The soundtrack / main theme Is one of Ennio Morricone's best imo , and the music Is just as Inspiring and memorable as the original Conan's legendary music by Basil Poledouris.
The acting Itself Isn't the greatest by any means , but In the cheesiest most 80's sword and sworcery way It works. It's the visuals , music , and sense of oldschool adventure that stood out.
I couldn't get over the prince and his Scrappy doo impersonation. It would have been a decent flick aside from him.

16:58 Well I do remember in a interview they did with Sandahl Bergman on the dvd for the first Conan film she did bring up how she had her finger cut off in a sword fight and they was able to put it back on maybe she was a little ''gun shy'' to go to hard with the sword fighting with Brigitte Nielson or maybe she was told to hold back some to not be better with the sword then her I don't know? I wish we got a making of.
I am a bigger fan of this film then you are bro but I can see the flaws it has but never bothered me yes Demi&Geena would done a wonderful job in this role. Solid job on the review!
Flavor flav ex lol I grew up with this film&always enjoyed it😎 it used to be a double feature of sorts,I'd watch after or with conan the destroyer!! Bridgette Nelson was always easy on these poor eyes of mine,ever since rocky 4& Cobra😎 this is what I expect from wonder woman, to be honest, red sonja was my WONDER WOMAN!!! I liked how conan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, made a appearance in this film but I dont believe he portrayed the character conan, which is to be bad because this would have been a cool spinoff😎 cool to see a young ernie Reeves jr and the actor from popeye& crimewave😎 the reason why I call this my wonder woman is for the same reason I enjoyed zack snyder Justice league! The antagonist from justice league is based on being taken from the setting where wonder woman takes place and that's what I wanted the current wonder woman films to do,take place in the Amazon with a herion/ red sonja type😎
i wouldn't mind if Robert Rodiguez direct to this film with Rose Mcgrown if she didn't cut her hair off lol

A so/so film for me, not as strong as the actual Conan films
Red sonja was okay it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be bad it was okay compared to What's out today red sonja was better than black widow
