Teddy did an interview on the Tom Joyner morning show. He said he complained to Harold Melvin after a show once about the money. Harold went under a mattress and handed Teddy some money. Harold told Teddy “ this is just for you. Don’t tell the other band members “. Teddy said that was when he decided to leave the group.
His son also brought it up on his Unsung. That's just cold how Harold treated him.
He gave him a 100$ bill dats it

My mom took care of him in his final days when he was in a nursing home in philly. She said he was so sweet and was funny

You know I’m only 24 and I’ve heard of many of these legends and their songs, but not their stories. It’s really interesting learning about my black historical music legends and the culture of black people back then. They had such class, even throughout the scandals they experienced. They invested their money in one another and kept it black. I wish the black community would return to this, or even better one day. There was a sense of pride that doesn’t exist today. Prouder men and women.

Gurl, you can tell a story...LOL Chiiile his accident was the result of a vigilante hit; for the murder of Taazmayia. But it doesn't matter because he was so nasty, condescending and worship driven, while in the midst of his new found fame, that almost anybody could have been guilty of it.
Woah....I never heard about Taaz...and just for the record, 10% is standard management fee....wow! They always said Teddy’s accident was his karma....now I know why.
THIS! All because HE didn't have the capacity to understand how it worked. If a bigger label came with a management that robbed him blind, he'd been in worse shape.

I didn't think I'd learn anything new about Teddys' life but I'm so glad that I did decide to watch this video. I never knew that he became so high minded and arrogant, I never knew about him signing a bad contract with the woman he was in love with, and even furthermore, I DEFINITELY never heard anything about Turquois Irving being in the car with Teddy and Tamika during the accident. However, I do remeber hearing about Tyrese getting the role to play TP in a major Hollywood film about his life but for some reason, it never materialized. He led one heck of a life, but he's still unquestionably one of my favorite singers of all time. R.I.P.

You want to see something irry look up the music video of Teddy Pendergrass and Stefanie Mills sing "Two Hearts". The video was filmed in 1981 but Teddy is sitting down the whole video. It was done because Mills was only 4'10 and insecure about her height while as Teddy was around 6'1" to 6'2". But knowing he would be paralyzed from the neck down the next year is unsettlingly ironic.

You stated that Teddy's Rolls Royce was inspected and that there was evidence that the brakes "had" been tampered with . If this is true , that an Outside Source had intentionally tampered with the brakes , then why would the R.R. COMPANY agree to pay T.P. anything at all ??? It seems to me that the only circumstances under which R.R. would be obligated to pay Teddy any kind of settlement , would be if upon inspection of his vehicle there was found to be a manufacturing "defect" with regards to how the brakes were constructed !!! I can't see "any" auto maker paying out a $$$ settlement when the evidence "Proves" that there was intentional tampering with the vehicle . In this case the BRAKES !! So how does one explain that 🤔 ???

When I was little I remember my mother and family making jokes about Teddy P. Getting head from a man(Transgender) and had an accident and got paralyzed from the neck down.
Heard the exact same as parents discussed . It was big debate tea topic at my parents home with family and friends over the decades while enjoying his music. The scandal never took away the talent of his music but was always hot tea. My folks loved his music so much as RI heaven. I’m now in my 40’s
