Yep, I agree that Pam is probably not being uppity, just picky. I’m not a fan of Tyler Perry movies. Plus it’s easy for actors to get locked into the circuit of movies by black filmmakers. Like, say, Vivica Fox. She works, but in mostly B movies. Some are fairly good, but never highly acclaimed. When Pam chooses something, seems like it’s often noteworthy, or that she’s gracing it as a special guest star. The L Word had a good run of 5-6 seasons, and she’s still low-key doing her thing at age 70+. 💕

This was a great video. I met Pam Grier when I went to her book signing about 10 years ago. She was very friendly and a great conversationalist. She answered every question people had and was just very open. She was not shy or cagey about anything. She stuck around for quite a while after the book signing to just chat with people. So, I stuck around to talk to her. I really enjoyed talking to her. She didn't seem fake at all. I just couldn't get over her skin. Her skin still looked amazing and she was already in her 60s at that point. She had minimal make-up and was just so laidback. I loved her stories about her relationship with her grandfather and even her father.
She said they taught her to be independent. They didn't want her depending on a man. They made sure she knew how to fix certain things around the house and change a tire. And she loved all of that. She was kind of a tomboy. I was just surprised by that because I just always looked at her as a pretty woman...I never thought of her as being the type that would prefer to be on a farm, ride horses, and all of that.
I thought she was more of a glamour girl type....and she isn't at all. She dresses up for movies and events and stuff...but in her regular life, she doesn't care about all of that. She has a lot of Native American ancestry so she was taught to stay connected to the land, be respectful to animals, and things like that. As far as the Tyler Perry thing...since you mentioned that in the video I had to give it some thought. I can say this based on meeting her...I got the impression Pam likes being taken seriously when it comes to her career. I don't think she would disrespect Tyler...but I don't feel like she would have ever thought she would be a good fit for his films.

So many of these stories of sexual assault may seem too frequent to too many girls to be true, but when the me too movement came out, my response was “who didn’t this shit happen to?” Hopefully, that movement caused more girls to find some power to stop it from happening to them and awareness on men that it’s wrong and they may have to pay a price. Poor Pam, unfortunately, was too young to even understand. Terrible.
1 in 6 women are victims of a completed rape; 1 in 3 experienced it between the ages of 11 and 17. So statically speaking, your question, "who DIDN'T it happen to" is totally plausible. That's not even counting attempted assault, other forms of sexual abuse, and the women who haven't reported it...or the men that experience it. Me Too definitely opened the dialogue but we still have long way to go on some of these mindsets and attitudes that silence victims and protect perpetrators.

I saw this happen to my older sister. she is 91 and still shudder as the memories. This does not absolve men of other races. KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF WOMEN.
