  • Our Dometic 310 RV Commode has given us no issues. But we have seen others that have so in todays video, we run through maintenance tips, parts that may be needed and troubleshoot some of the common issues we see pop up.
    We hope this video is helpful - we will be trying to do more of these videos in the future on different components of the camper so our viewers can use them as a resource in case they have problems.
    We hope you found the video helpful and as always - thanks for watching and let us know if you have any questions!

    INSTRUCTIONS
    In the video I mentioned that the Dometic instructions that came with the commode are very helpful and an updated version can be found here:
    www.dometic.com/assets/28/09/...
    They also have the instructions for replacing the flush ball seal:
    epi.dometic.com/externalasset...
    PARTS
    For the parts - we mentioned in the video the product numbers of the replacement parts that Dometic sells. But other companies also offer comparable replacement parts as well. We have never used any of the "off brand" parts so don't want to reccomend one brand over the other but with the part numbers you should be able to find replacements. If you are looking for original Dometic brand you can find those below.

    Been watching a TON of "how to" fix dometic 30X (300, 310, 320) issues (and I mean dozens), but HOLE MOLY this is BY FAR the most informative, relevant, and well done video on all dometic toilet issues, SUPER GREAT WORK!!!!!! I’ve a 2021 GeoPro, same model as you all came with Dometic 300. On last trip the flush valve cracked right down the middle & would not hold water in bowl, under warranty. The RV dealer said it would be 3 weeks before I could get appt. & they’d have it for min. of 5 weeks bec. of warranty process. Called Dometic direct, they said I could do myself, send in paperwork for reimbursement. After watching your U-Tube I decided to install 310 myself. Drove 1 1/2 hr to Camping World & got one. Installed but would not stop running. Un-installed, took back (1 1/2 hr. each way again…) & got another one. Installed it and all appeared well. However driving camper to storage, water slushed out of bowl & temporarily shorted my electric brakes. Luckily no permanent damage. The old Dometic had no serial number ( the camper was made during the pandemic & we all know short cuts were taken…). Now Dometic is refusing to pay claim because I can’t supply serial no. Think I’m just going to ship them my USED toilet and let them find the serial number… I do enjoy your presentations and learn a lot! Thanks!

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow - hate that you have had so many issues! But glad it is finally working! Strange on the serial number but wonder if maybe they were using a second hand item or similar due to supply issues.
      Haha on shipping it back! Is there any tag on it (I believe its where the water valve is?). Maybe you could take a picture of where it should be to show its missing. And I believe we had the serial number on the paperwork we got with the original purchase - I remember seeing something on the instruction booklet.
      Thanks for being a viewer - appreciate it

    I appreciate the guidance especially for all of us "first timers". However, a pet peeve of mine is the explanation with the word .."simple fix" or "just a 10 minute easy fix" or the like.
    I am certain you're trying to be encouraging but for those of us who have no knowledge of how to do this (and no one to call for help) inevitably no repair is "just a simple fix". My learning curve is steep to begin with. Therefore THANK YOU for showing the short stubby screwdrivers I need.
    Great video.. absolutely worth it

      Thank you for the comment and the watch :). And we are taking your suggestions to heart - we definitely remember how hard it was as new rvers (its only been about 8 years!) and our goal has always been to do content that is helpful to both new rvers and experienced as well. Please always feel that you can reach out and if we can help we will :).
      We also have a video series called “2 min fixes”. Some are a 2 mins and some are a bit more but we make these videos because even though seasoned rvers have likely already encountered these, we do know how hard it can be as a new owner starting from scratch. So we like to walk viewers through it, show where the parts are sourced from and any issues we had completing.
      We hope you will stick around and we would love to hear about your adventures!

    Great acting! Fortunately, mine came with the 310 from the factory, and I haven't had any real problems with it (yet). I'm not looking forward to any repairs that require getting behind it, because mine sits at a 45 degree angle in a corner between the back wall and the storage cabinet. I may have to hire a small child to reach in there. Actually, I'll probably have to remove the entire thing to access the valve. I'm sure that's how it was assembled.

    We have 2 dometic 310 toilets in our camper. If one depresses the pedal all the way down it returns by itself. The other toilet when the lever is pressed all the wat down it stays on until the tank overflows and floods the rv. MAKE SURE YOUR VALVE DOES NOT STAY ON IF YOU FULLY DEPRESS IT. We had visitors they thought nothing of it until I heard water flowing under the trailer. PANIC MODE.😢😅😊

    Great video you guys! So you're saying I have to replace my whole toilet? The ball shaft doesn't open anymore but the foot pedal still works. So you're saying I can't get inside to replace the ball shaft and spring? That's a bummer. Dometic 310.

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you for the watch! So from what we researched, if the pedal is not working properly, there is no way to remove the pedal and replace. You may want to contact Dometic directly though - they have always been helpful when we have called and may be able to just replace those parts if the pedal is still working.

  • @TorontoAreaNestBox
    @TorontoAreaNestBox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi There! Our new camper came with a plastic commode - can you please explain why you chose to upgrade to porcelain? We've recently took our new trailer out for the first time and if I had to point out negatives, I'd say:
    - the toilet seat seems smaller than a home toilet
    - the bowl is not very far down from the seat
    - the toilet seat is round - we only buy oval toilet seats at home for hygienic reasons
    Does your upgrade solve any of the above?
    Thank you! Keep up the great videos!

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Linda here :) So, I will say this toilet seems much more like a residential one. Its not as good, but definitely better than the plastic one. That one seemed to creek and sound like it was going to fall apart - plus the lid would slam. The one we bought has a soft close lid and is so much quieter. Troy has remarked that the bowl is deeper and he likes it much better. And it is more oval than our old one - not as much as at home but definitely better. If you have a Camping World around you - I have seen them on display in the past. You may want to see if they have one you can see in person. Hope that helps and thanks for being a viewer!

    When refilling the toilet bowl after a flush, the ball slightly opens and lets water out while trying to refill. It just slightly opens just enough to let water out but I can get it to refill if I just barely find the right pressure on the pedal but it’s difficult. It’s a Dometic 310. What can I do about it? Thanks!

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. With getting it to refill - it is a bit of a balancing act with the pedal - we also have to figure out the correct pressure to the pedal to get it to fill without emptying! Went over the troubleshooting and didn't see anything specific to help but will let you know if we find a solution. Thanks for watching!

    Mine is the 310 the problem is it shots water over the rim, if I turn down pressure regulator like 40 psi then of course no problem, but to take a shower it absolutely sucks. Any way to just turn down pressure at the toilet?

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a problem! We always use a 40psi reducer - we changed out the shower to an Oxygenics Fury and it is much better than the original. Haven’t seen a way to adjust at the toilet itself unfortunately!

    • @WinesPinesandCanines

    Unfortunately the 310 doesn't have a replacement part for the ball itself. The shaft from the ball to the pedal is all plastic and only half an inch thick at most. Tried glue, added a thin screw. No dice. Broke again after a month or so. Key thing is keep the seal lubrication maintenance regularly or it will easily snap the shaft or pedal and your into a new expensive toilet.

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
