Thanks for your very honest review. We installed a flushing porcelain toilet with a 14 gallon black tank. (Vented through the roof.). Almost three years later we have no complaints. Zero smells and no problems … and I mean none. Easy to dump along with the gray tank about once a week or more. Inexpensive compared to some of the other options. Honestly, I can’t figure out why more DIY van builders don’t choose this because it’s the closest thing to home.
I love my Wrappon Trekker and was able to get just the seat and working mechanism from OK4WD and made a wonderful toilet drawer in my van, for only $900 instead of $1500. It seals and drops the bag with each flush so you don't have to wait for the entire roll of bags to be used before disposing of them. You get about 50 flushes per roll and the rolls are easy to store if you want to keep extra rolls in your van. I have never had a bad smell in my van or leak from the bags.The Wrappon toilet was developed to contain human waste and decrease the spread of disease in a disaster. The powder that you use with this toilet decontaminates the waste and reduces odor. To all you RVer's out there, nobody should be tossing bags of human poop in just any garbage can, it's a bio hazard to those unfortunate enough to be emptying the trash for a living or digging through trash for cans and bottles to get some cash and it is against most city regulations....UNLESS there is waste treatment powder mixed in with it. It's against State Park and National Park regulations to dispose of human waste in their garbage cans. If you don't want to spend the money on a toilet that uses the decontamination powder and seals the waste, or a toilet that can be emptied at a dump station, at least add the waste treatment powder like the powder that comes with Wrappon, Leveo toilets and in Wag Bag kits, in whatever bags you are pooping in and tossing in trash, you can buy it in jars or individual packets. Diapers have something similar to the waste treatment powder in them, that's why they can be thrown in the trash. Kitty litter, sawdust, bark, etc do not decontaminate human waste. Anybody who can afford a Mercedes van, any new van or new RV, can afford any toilet out there that make you dispose of human waste appropriately or at the very least you can afford the powder to add to the bag you poop in. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have the means to travel in a luxury van or RV should take into consideration where we are disposing of our human waste and take into consideration the people who have to handle it after we dispose of it, not just what is the most convenient for us. I love your channel and your vans, they are beautiful! You reach a lot of people with your channel, Please help promote SAFE disposal of human waste along with "poop in a bag and get rid of it as soon as possible". 🙂

Disposing of just pee (pine pellets, etc…) in the garbage should be fine to dispose of. To clarify you are referring to number 2?

Wrappon Trekker toilet system - automatic wrap and seal -single use - wraps each dump individually and you dispose each dump as you go .
I got a rental van with a composting toilet in the USA. I did not like it and retured the Van after two day. Next was Airstream Interstate with a Holding Tank. That worked great. I was Most Times on campgrounds (koa), and they had full hook Up Service. The Holding Tank in the Interstate Van was good for my 2 weeks vacation tour anyway. 😊
At Home in Frankfurt Germany I use Cassette toilet in my newer Sprinter Van. Most campgrounds in Europe have No full hook Up Service 😭

Have you ever tried/installed an incinerator toilet? Seems to me that it would really solve a lot of problems as to what to do with the waste and deal with the smell. You would have to have a lot of power as it takes 70 minutes to run the cycle and starts over if you 'flush' during that cycle. It also takes about 2000 watts according to the manufacturer. When I discussed it with the battery manufacturer they solved the power problem by having two inverters, one for the toilet and a few items, and the other for everything else. I plan on having very high-input solar with backup from driving to charge the batteries as well as plug-in for when I'm at a campground.
We have and use an 12volt EcoJohn - Tiny John propane incinerator toilet in our cabin... They could be installed into a van but it also needs the exhaust to vent above the van - keeps bulk of smell venting upward and away from Van. Exhaust gets warm but not too bad.... The only issues are is we still get some burning smell from the toilet... Not a deal breaker but it's there... These toilets use liners in them and the poop and pee go into the waxed liner then drop into the burn box... It's same concept as incinolet electric toilets but it's propane... Not perfect but all that is left is ash... They aren't cheap but I prefer them over all the other options... They do take some practice using them...
Hi! Great video! Curious about the clip and bag process for #5. Been researching this model and it looks like everyone uses a bucket.. are there clips on the front and back to hold a bag to form a catch? Thanks!
Very leading content....lol! I think it funny to watch van builders selling there wares. People gotta go, and sooner or later your going to have to deal with POO and your poo doesn't smell as bad as the smoke...lol! urine diverters are the answer.The Trelino or old C-head design are the way to go. Pee smells and a tank thats under your van is going to smell. get one you can empty easy.... Enjoy.
Do you have a ball value on the pee tank...is there also an option to empty it at a dump station? I suspect a good aim is also important for both functions, lol! Joking aside, sounds like the best solution.
I have a simple cassette type, which works fine, but the incineration toilet has got to be the ultimate hazzle free and green option? I would be interested in your opinion?
Great video. Would be great to get into detail as to how you dispose of it whilst on the road. We live in the UK and take the van to Europe every year and emptying a cassette toilet is super easy as every town village in Europe seems to have a cassette toilet emptying facility. With the option with the tank for the pee, what do you do with that? Open it up as you are driving along :) With the bagged up No. 2s, I don't suppose you just add them to the regular public bins.This toilet talk never seems to stop.
I would say yes the regular bins. If you think about it what’s the difference. Regular food waste or processed 😂

The Separett 501 looks interesting but I can't see how the bag is held in place. That clip would only hold the front of the bag. The Separett This also looks like it could be made in a shallow box that swings up to the wall to increase room in the shower.
What do you do with the toilet paper used with urine in the Separet toilet? I’m assuming you need to bag it.

Laveo dry flush, how long can the "waste pouch" "keep" in its wrap?
Example:
the "sausage" has 25 "pouches",
you use the dry flush 10 times on the adventure,
then your van is parked for a few months before the next adventure.
Will the 10 "waste pouches" break down/methane explode the "sausage" during the parked time?
Will i need to throw away the "sausage" after only using 10 of the 25 "waste pouches".
I solved the venting down problem with the composting toilet by adding an extra fan that only runs while driving which is the problem with venting down. I would switch to the laveo but what no one mentions is the smell WHILE using those toilets. It must be awful for quite some time after use. Like most things in a van the way you use the van itself dictates a lot of choices. A black tank in cold climates when you’re just doing weekends is a lot of work.
I haven’t noticed a smell while using my Laveo any more than others. As soon as you flush it, it’s gone. I have switched to scented small animal litter over pee powder to extend the time between flushes. Up to 3 pees per flush to extend the use of the cartridge! However, be warned that more uses also increases the weight of the bag when you dispose of it.
@@vickiesweitzer8625 with the fan in the composting toilet there is absolutely no smell while using the toilet because of the fan being below you . I’m afraid to give that up.
The laveo toilet is like a fancy Diaper Genie.

Natures Head all the way, no smell ,and easy clean outs,5 rigs and 10 years later, alway vented out the floor or wall, easy to replace the urine bottle with a pipe and valve, drains out to the ground. or to a small tank with a valve.
I don’t know you did it out the floor. I always got a backdraft until I installed a larger fan. Now it’s great

Ecojohn is optional propane too... We have a tiny john from ecojohn so a bit smaller than full sized ecojohn or Cinderella...I do hear the Cinderella is the better option but our tiny ecojohn works ok... Not cheap prices for these tho, But way less clean up.... Once you set them up and learn how to use them correctly with liners they are the simpler and easiest to get rid of all the waste .... Just ash left....idea for vans with propane tanks...12v system doesn't use hardly any power and propane is the main fuel... Pretty nimble on the fuel too....we like ours....
