    I typed feedback on one of your other "Beginner Flexibility Routine" videos a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned that I am a 70-year-old male who will never be as flexible as you, Maddy, but was convinced that if I recognized my own limitations and stayed within myself I thought these routines would be helpful. That has been the case. I don't do them daily, but I never miss more than one day. They are, indeed, helpful in keeping me more flexible and feeling better. Thanks so much!

    People often tell me they don't like stretches or just can't do yoga because they're not flexible enough.. I would say, maybe you are not flexible Yet, that’s why we need to work on it. Vulnerability makes us even more stronger and beautiful as long as we embrace our imperfection. Thanks Maddie for sharing another lovely stretch routine today!

      I don't get this attitude. It's like people saying they would like to pole dance but they are not going to go for a class because they don't have arm strength. Well, if you went to a class, it'll help you build the strength...

    January challenge here
    I actually started doing these routines a couple months ago daily and now im almost at my splits both front and side. Just keep at it!! It feels so good to be flexible. Also, there are plenty of great active stretching videos too out there to pair with this one to retain your flexibility. It would be great if Maddie could make some active stretching videos too!!

  • @dees4719
    @dees4719 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm so glad I found these videos during quarantine! While I usually stretch after workouts, I never really indulge myself and spend 30 minutes doing a stretching routine. Now that I'm not commuting, this is one of the things I'm doing with the extra time, and it's really helping. I'm pretty flexible, but even so, some of the stretches are challenging, especially when you hold them for a long time. They've helped me realize where I'm really tight - hips, hips, hips - so thanks for helping me stay sane and healthy!

    You’re the only person I watch on TH-cam for workouts!!! I don’t want to hurt myself being a beginner and working out at home- and your pointers/reminders on form have helped me correct my workouts and keep me on track/avoid injury. I have been dealing with a ton of pain all over (mainly back) due to a pinched nerve so I’ve been doing your stretching/yoga videos every day. My suggestion would be to do a couple more videos of yoga/stretching that can also tone or get your heart rate up a little more without overdoing it! I always feel like I want a little bit more of a workout but with my injury I don’t want to do other workouts to make it worse.

    I am in love with this stretch routine! Not even 15 minutes in and I’m excited to leave feedback because I already feel looser and less tight! I love how you actually stretch for longer than 10 seconds, how intense and effective the stretches are and that they are dance inspired! As a dancer this takes me back to practice/rehearsals while also leaving me feeling much more relaxed and stress free as well. Thank you for sharing these routines! They are my go-to videos and they got me back into stretching! 💕💛

      This workout is an intermediate level that's why! I'm an ex-dancer and now qualified ISTD teacher and somebody who is inflexible would no way be capable of remaining in that lunge position with their back up straight or do the half split with their legs fully stretched like what she's doing in the video, working with the correct posture is whats important at first then inhaling and exhaling at the right point of the exercises, this is important because if there is tension stretching becomes a lot harder, but I can go on all day about this, and here is no place to give a lecture, you're all welcome to try out my stretching for beginner tutorials.

    So, the title is 'for the inflexible' and that describes me perfectly, so I was anticipating being shown how to position myself to BEGIN to gain some flexibility, ways to achieve the stretch safely, some ways to prop myself, where to start....instead, I saw a very flexible, beautiful woman, putting herself in positions that I am not currently capable of, with no suggestion, guide or demonstration as to what that may look like for an inflexible person. I hope to achieve an increased level of flexibility; however, I did not find this video helpful in guiding me, queen of inflexibility, to a safe and helpful position, to be able to stretch safely and effectively.
    Other than that, I've totally loved the January workout schedule so far, and am looking forward to another week of amazing workouts. Please continue into February, as this is an amazing program!!!

    • @rockinangel0159

      I think what you're experiencing is what most people with limited mobility feel when they see someone really flexible. I'm really inflexible, been stretching and doing yoga on and off and come around to the idea of 'inflexibility' is relative so it's hard for some people to gauge on what to do. Most of the moves she does are actually basic but she is just more flexible than most so it looks complex and scary to approach. It really is just following her instructions and pushing your body as far as it tells you it can go. You will feel awkward and there will be discomfort, (but no sharp pain).
      So for example, when she does a forward bend, I'm not capable of getting my body to bend in half like hers. I've improved and still struggling to hit a 90-degree angle but I just stop where I feel the stretch because that's all that matters. Doing the routine on a regular you will see your body will eventually loosen up. You're never really going to find that one person that will you give you all the answers, I went through a few yoga teachers and read a lot of articles but what helped was practicing, breathing and taking mini-breaks to check my form.
      If you need or would like something to assist in moves where you are unable to touch the ground or get your leg straight, I would recommend yoga blocks/stack of books and a stretch-band/towel.

    • @Becksnnc
      @Becksnnc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These stretches are easy enough to do for someone that isn't very flexible. Don't try to look exactly like Maddie. She's capable of going all the way because of how flexible she is. If you feel the stretch then you're doing it correctly. It just takes doing the stretches regularly for you to see improvements. I'm really inflexible too but I could still do this routine even if I can't reach as far as Maddie can.

    I love your stretching routines, they are really helpful and are helping me gain some flexibility slowly but surely. I do one every day even if it's just the 15 minute one. I love that you mix them up a bit.i know lots of folks are looking for advanced flexibility routines and I totally understand that, as you are a dancer and so flexible yourself but I personally really appreciate you taking the time to include these videos that are good to help gain and maintain flexibility. I love your videos and you have been a huge help to my lockdown workouts. Xx love from the UK

    I haven't been stretching for like 5 years, and now that I started doing it again 3 days ago, I have to say that it's truly addictive, I love it! This like my new hobby. :D

    This routine was great and much needed for me right now. Is it possible to post a more intermediate/advanced stretching routine? I can always adapt the beginner ones as needed, but I enjoying trying new and different stretches so it would be great to see what you like to do. Thanks!

    LOVE your stretch videos!! I am not flexible and doing you stretches proves it. However, I'm always astonished how loos my hips feel afterwards. Keeps them coming!

    Amazing stretch! I'm definitely guilty of not stretching out properly after a workout or even after a day at the desk. I'm glad you're making these videos to help encourage me to be more stretchy!

    Could you do a more advanced stretching session for dancers.

      I agree! I feel there are many dancers in quarantine trying to think of all the advanced stretches to do. It would be really helpful if you could possibly provide us with a stretching video to help out us dancers! I know you've mentioned that you did ballet once :)

      I'm an ex-dancer and I have my own stretch tutorials on my YT channel, maybe Maddie is catering for the majority, seeing as most people don't process the turn out and flexibility as dancers have, by the way, I don't want to be critical but no way is this a beginners workout,I have taught inflexible people and they can't even keep there backs up straight even with their legs not stretched, you're all welcome to use my stretch tutorials anyway

    I was able to modify and use a small chair to enable myself to do these stretches. Some of the hip stretches felt amazing!

    I feel so good after doing this workout! I used to be fairly flexible but I stopped dancing when I went to uni and now I can barely touch my toes! Certain movements were really difficult but the more I practice, the better I will get!

    My balance and strength suck so yoga positions have always been difficult for me. Despite that, I have been trying to incorporate it into my routine because I love it when I can actually get into a flow. The more you do something the better you get. Thanks for the video! The music you chose was really relaxing!

    perfect for my rest day! I usually do a 5-15 minute stretch in the morning and a 5-15 stretch minute stretching again at night. But since today was an active rest day for me, I went on a walk and then did this!
