We bought a TT that came with the torsion axels, and they work great. Our closet is in the back of trailer and it's nice to see the clothes still hanging on the hangers when we get to our camp sight.
Had a scare. We had a scheduled Maintenance at our Mississippi Service Center. We had put 1100 miles on the Indep. Suspension. The tech had to raise the RV up so as he did he noticed the left front tire Moved as it cleared the pad floor. He calls me over and says wiggle that tire. Well we all know it shouldn't wiggle but it did and alot. The caster nut was two rounds lose. I immediately got on the phone with Morryed. The lug nuts were all cross treaded too. If we hadn't had that appointment we might had not found it before it caused a lot of damage.
Hey, I don’t know if this was mentioned but I was watching this video and really enjoyed the content. But I do have to say that I saw some thing that looks like it’s potentially a problem. At the 46:40 Mark, there is some fluid that comes out of the suspension very near what appears to be the brakes. This is on the driver side front axle. As you’re watching the video it is the right side of the screen and the right axle. If you watch just behind, what appears to be a shock you can see the fluid release and then the video cuts away quickly. You might want to check that! @EnjoyTheJourneyLife
"Crappy roads" is a BS excuse. EVERYONE knows there will be crappy roads, especially when heading for camping sites. The suspension used on trailers is the cheapest they can get away with. RVIA doesn't hold their feet to the fire and NHTSA isn't involved as RV manufacturers are considered 'self-policing' which, again, is total BS. The suspension under trailers is basically the same as what you'll find under a double-wide - 'good enough to get it on concrete blocks'. In other words, good enough to get it to the selling dealer and off the lot. I was a pro mechanic for fifty years and I always gave the same answer when asked what was the first upgrade a new owner should make - "Get a decent suspension under it!" It may not seem sexy but neither is a busted-up trailer, sitting on the side of the road.
Totally agree, rv's are junk no matter the make. This suspension looks awesome and is a major plus. In the end manufacturers suck and you might as well wipe your rear end with that RVIA sticker, it means nothing
I pretty much agree. The RV manufacturers don't build these things to "travel". They're build to roll to a campsite 20 or 30 miles away, and then back home after a weekend. But.... the roads in this country are a national disgrace. The trucking industry smashes our interstates to pieces as fast as they can fix them. It is a mystery to me why we can't build roads that can last. But, if you look at who's been in charge of our government for the past 60 years, you'll know why.
We just had ours installed in May and Jay was my man too. We already had the 8k Disk so we were in and out in a day. Lindsey did and was as she said great. Monica was awesome too. We chose to rent a room that was dog friendly. Got up had complimented breakfast and went over to the RV Museum and as we walked in the door to see the museum they called and said come and get it. We had to hang around a couple of hours to get a second lunch that was ordered that morning.. Left there and hit those railroad tracks and we looked at each other like wow. First big bridge we hit it and truck goes bump but RV rode smooth. Best money we ever spent.
I need to watch this about 300 times. I-24 south through IL & KY is an equal match to anything I-57/80/90/94 can throw at us. We pick up our new Brinkley in October and my mind is already wondering what suspension upgrades we will be planning for next year, lol. We are semi-retired, but do the FL to Chicago to CO thing twice a year so in essence we are a test bed for roads beaten to death by semi traffic. I first avoided your video because it's a bit like having to do your taxes. The first time I watched it I just had one eye open. The second time I had my dark roast coffee going with my notebook in hand. Now fear has set in. I remember an appointment in Tampa we had in which they wanted us to leave our RV for 2 months without us in it, that was just for replacing a skylight that their technician broke at PDI with his heavy boots when he installed our MaxAirs, lol. Their new CEO said for insurance reasons no fulltimer's in the shop, yikes! Where are you going to get your brake pads changed & axles greased? I used to do my Lance myself when I was an RV park manager with a driveway. Now as a roaming full-timer they don't want me to work on my RV in an RV park unless I hire a company for an emergency repair that otherwise would leave us stranded, etc. At this point we would schedule to take it back to our dealer in Cheyenne one year after we bought it. Cheyenne to Chicago to Winter Haven, FL & back is a heck of a shakedown tour, lol. Thanks for all you do! Dave & Sheila.
definitely going to buy this as soon as i figure out which toy hauler to buy... been fulltime rv for 4 years now and definitely want to prevent issues instead of fixing issues
One of the reasons we went with a Class A DP, air ride suspension! So nice! If I had opted for a 5 wheel or travel trailer this suspension looks to be the best option!
Everyone commenting about why a $100k camper doesn't come with this suspension. First, I wish my 2016 grand design momentum 399th only cost $100k! Second, SLOW TF DOWN! No camper is designed to be towed at 70-80mph! 65 is my top speed on perfect roads, which is rare. If you are in a hurry, DON'T BUY A CAMPER! 45 to 60 is my average speed on most American highways and nothing has ever broken in my camper. When I'm traveling I'm pulling a 20,000lb fifth wheel with my valuable possessions and another vehicle in the back. I don't chance destroying the things I've worked hard for by trusting the that lowest bidder of a state contract for the roads did a great job. Learn to drive to the conditions and for what you are hauling. Unless you have more money than sense, slow down.
I was born and raised in S.W. Michigan, not far from Elkhart. I will totally agree, Chicago has the worst roads! We have a GD momentum that will be getting IS very soon.
While everything said here is correct regarding road issues. My own experience is there is also a serious quality control issue at the manufacturers. My current experience with Thor Motor Coach. My new coach has gone on a single 300 mile trip and it has been in the shop for more than a month now for manufacturer defects none of which were caused by road conditions. On top of all this the warranty claims are slow rolled when submitted. This is the second month I have lost since purchasing new in January.
Ohh my god those roads in Chicago are perfect! Try some of the Canadian highways if you want to see rough. We were towing iur small tandem axle 20' camper on a summer vacation to explore dinosaur fossil sites. One paved road did the following damage and I have to tell you we were going SLOW and dodging potholes but you can't miss them all when some are at the crest of a hill. - broke 3 out of 4 leaf spring packs - broke the weld holding 1 spindle into the axle tube - shook the gas stove out of its mounting brackets. - broke the rear bumpernwe had our bikes mounted on. It ripped out of its PRE-TRIP REINFORCED mounting brackets. This highway should have had a sign up saying "4 x 4 Only. No campers or cars allowed."
Hey Tom, Pete W. here! When did you get your independent suspension/disc brakes. Hayden doesn't work at MORryde as of April 2024 when we were there for a wheel bearing / alignment service. Are you enjoying it?
Also had them take off all rotors and replace them looked like some one took a large hammer to all of them, Called over the manager to see them and he had them taken off and replaced. Then he checked a shipment of them all looked the same. I do not know how many units went out with them.
Indiana has Chicago beat on the worst freeway!! On the way to Ohio before you cross state lines has got to be the WORST! Omg I had so much stuff break and cracked on my 5th wheel
I agree! I just went on 80/90 toll road and this side of Angola is awful! But also as bad are Michigan Rds! We also pay gas tax and our roads are horrible!
@thomasharhen2168: Just had the dual axle upgrade done from 7k to 8k and disc brakes for $9,400 (without tire and wheel upgrade). Just had ours done Aug. 5 - 6 and met Mr. Ward there! Wonderful improvement in suspension and the braking is vastly improved over my previous drum brakes...much safer!
@@gcflower99 glad you’re enjoying the upgrade! So far I’m loving it too. Especially the disc brakes. What a wonderful experience it was from both the treatment and hospitality from MORryde and the fantastic people we met while there!!
This may seem like a dumb question If this system is so good “ why isn’t it standard on RVs? Another question “ I have seen literally myself where it seems like axles on RVs are not rated properly” they say it is due to over weight” but if you have a 45,000 pound axles, why does some axles crack or the spring boat shears off?
Check your bearings they did not set them up right 3 were to tight 1 was to loose it could have been a bad day if they failed. I drove a semi for 30 years and have had wheels come off before not good. The bearings were all at just about failure level. Just check their work.
I know someone who's morryde suspension fell apart(literally while running down the road) just a few months after having it installed. Morryde refused warranty until they started getting bad PR, then they tried to make the customer delete their TRUE postings. I'll never buy a morryde product.
I had my IS installed on July 22/23 - we even had the same bay as you. What a difference in ride. I had a new pinbox and 5 new tires added as well. They did a great job and super friendly and helpful.
You watch too many negative youtubers if yourube was your source in that assumption. It's only particular floorplan models that could be effected with frame issues. My unit has the Rhinobox frame design and is 40% stronger than the frames with issues. You have to do some research. Don't jump on the crybaby bandwagon.
On every video of this topic, many viewers comment about the cost and how the RV builders are trash for not building their units with this system. Using the same logic, why is there a thriving car and truck modification industry? Most RV’s are driven less than 500 miles, 3-5 times a year. As a full timer, we pull our rig 10k-12k miles a year. Most owners load the minimal equipment and supplies for a long weekend, we have everything we own in our rig. Good dishes, glasses, appliances, etc. Many companies are offering the IS as an option on their mid to higher level models, but keep the traditional running gear as standard because the typical RV buyer can’t, or does not want the extra expense of something they don’t need based on their use of the rig.
Does anybody know what this cost roughly for maybe a two axle set up? I’m just looking for a general price range. Is it two grand is it six grand just put me in the direction so I know if it’s even something I’d be able to do in the near future or budget for you.
Next area of improvement. Fix the stiff and jarring suspension on the trucks themselves. it appears that your truck rides so rough, your voice does that jiggle stutter as you talk while running down the road.
I see now that you actually had this install a year ago. We did this 3 years ago. Wish they had the bolt on back then. What disc brakes did you have before? They looked like they were DeeMax.
I am sure it was a ridiculous cost. I have the same trailer with the FlexAir TrailAir tongue and never had a dish or glass or anything break in 60k miles. You will never, ever, recoup that cost. @@rogermurphy1548
If the manufacturers would build these rvs with independent suspensions to begin with then the cost wouldn’t be as bad as doing it after the fact and parts would be more available overall. Sure it would cost more, but how much do you have to pay in repairs with “standard” axels? Probably winds up being a savings overall.
Don't the rubber torsion suspensions need to be replaced every 10-15 years? I've heard horror stories about trailers with rubber torsion tubes where the rubber eventually gets brittle and lets the axle go to the stops .
The people working on your $100K fifth wheel make about 15 dollars an hour. They DO NOT want to be there and could NOT care less about your RV. Good luck!!!
This gaslighting the manufacturers is BS! The frigging things are supposed to be made to go down the roads! $150K for something that needs a new suspension right out of the gate is a crime.
my opinion what comes factory typically designed for lot crawling and sadly within the 35-45 foot length we're averaging 1.5-4.5 tons more payload vs what we seen in caravans of similar size in the 1970's and 1980's notintinf 5th wheels of today are getting heavier to a point th ford f550-750 or semi should br used as the tow vehicle
Another question you pay almost $90,000 for a tricked out RV, but it’s not put together right as I watch this video and I see” the system looks very capable of doing what is supposed to do, but why isn’t it not standard? I think it’s just a rip off you pay all this money for something that they do not bill to standards That would last
Roads are bad, they've been bad for years. Most RVs are junk, they've been junk for years. Yes, the poor suspension from factories are inferior - unfortunately upgrading your suspension will not change the overall poor "piece-rate" mass produced quality from too many staples and screws, "lick and stick" bad connection details all over, paper thin framework and too much wood which is susceptible to major water damage and rot when they leak.... and the RV will leak. I like the MORryde products, installed them many times and they make good products. But its like putting "lipstick on a pig". Buy from a manufacturer that builds better RVs, and you'll likely have better suspension without the need to spend thousands on upgrades. Quality manufacturers may even use the MORryde suspension from the beginning because quality manufactures don't look to build the cheapest product. Bottom line, don't blame the roads... Most RVs are junk - the craftsmanship in general is horrible and lacks care.
Gotta say I am worried about you guys. Cheri isn't in many of the videos, you're not camping, you rehash the same topic for weeks, or it's a sponsor spot from almost a year ago. Are you guys actually still full timers anymore?
We are full-time travelers, not always in the RV. Editing is A LOT of work and it takes time. Here is yesterday's adventure video with Cheri (filmed this month) th-cam.com/video/CWdn3WRmCnw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HbI3nBZZCrOIWp8K
You would think since, " Comrade Pritzker ", Governor People's Republic of Illinois, multi Billionaire, ( His words ), would spend some of those Billions and fix the roads ! Every Summer you are forced to drive thru a labyrinth of construction barrels, but the roads never get any better ! Just like his governing ! 👎☹️
I am sorry, but I think When you’re spending $125,000 on a fifth wheel trailer, it should come from the factory with independent suspension we as consumers should not have to sink another 10to15grand into it to get what we deserve 😢 Very sad and uncalled for
My wife and I made the dash from Indiana to Iowa once having to cross the People's Revolutionary Republic of Silly-Noise with our handguns unloaded, enclosed in a case, and placed in a closed compartment such as the trunk or glove box of our vehicle making them inaccessible to the driver or passengers lest I suddenly after 70 years of being a law-abiding tax-paying citizen suddenly be overcome with a homicidal rage due to the mere presence of the weapons. That, and I was sure the Silly-Noise Road Pirates would drool at the sight of our Texas license plates. Oh yeah, the roads were bad and the fuel expensive and we didn't dare pause during our transit lest our lacking a FOID turning us into instant felons.
Maybe not towing something around that is so big that it should just be moved from point A to point B and left there, moved very infrequently. These 5th wheel units are just way too large.
If all things are true in what these two guys say….Then why would the manufacturer not put a proper suspension on knowing that the RV will accrue damage
No legally it doesn’t change anything. But it you have it installed as original equipment it raises it by 1000 to 200 pounds depending on all the factors.
@@markratliff7991 If your manufacturer had installed the IS during its original manufacturing process it would raise your GVWR by one to two thousand pounds. However, being installed aftermarket there is no way to legally change the manufacturers decal that is on your camper. What determines the one to two thousand pound increase is anybody's guess. It's up to the manufacturer to determine what their frame and other components will handle.

Did IS May 2023 and love it. Sergio and his team are top notch!
Makes you wonder why 100k plus rigs don't come with independent suspension and disc brakes
They should be already installed with that suspension for 100k
They absolutely should😎
9/16” studs are supposed to be torqued to 120 lbs/ft not 140 lbs/ft …
Makes ya wonder why all the gas taxes, they don't fix the roads. Ohh we know why.
Then it wouldn't be a 100k it be 200k
Got mine a few years ago and very happy with it, well worth the money.
definitely going to buy this as soon as i figure out which toy hauler to buy... been fulltime rv for 4 years now and definitely want to prevent issues instead of fixing issues
One of the reasons we went with a Class A DP, air ride suspension! So nice! If I had opted for a 5 wheel or travel trailer this suspension looks to be the best option!
You guys must have the most smoothest ride now. Great upgrade.
Yes, it's a great ride now!
How many people gets a $10k suspension for FREE?!? They did! Now just advertise for us!
- broke 3 out of 4 leaf spring packs
- broke the weld holding 1 spindle into the axle tube
- shook the gas stove out of its mounting brackets.
- broke the rear bumpernwe had our bikes mounted on. It ripped out of its PRE-TRIP REINFORCED mounting brackets.
This highway should have had a sign up saying "4 x 4 Only. No campers or cars allowed."
I enjoy Josh the RV nerd aaaallll the time!!! He is awesome just like you and Cheri😊😊😊
I would be pissed if I spent that much for an RV that I need to spend thousands more to make it right.
Hey Tom, Pete W. here! When did you get your independent suspension/disc brakes. Hayden doesn't work at MORryde as of April 2024 when we were there for a wheel bearing / alignment service. Are you enjoying it?
Wait until one of these systems fail and you are in the middle of no where. Good luck finding these unconventional parts.
The recent (covid) frame issues are not a grand design only issue. The frames are built by lippert. Chances are your rv frame is a lippert.
Bro how many thousands of $$$ does that cost!!!! Holy hell, most people can't afford that!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
My dual axle cost $12,300 with disc brakes and 17.5 inch tires and wheels. Just had it done last week.
@@buzzward812 … sounds about right. The wheel/tire upgrade is just as important as the suspension upgrade.
We already had 8k axles and disk so our cost was $6800. Well worth it.
This may seem like a dumb question
If this system is so good “ why isn’t it standard on RVs?
Another question “ I have seen literally myself where it seems like axles on RVs are not rated properly” they say it is due to over weight” but if you have a 45,000 pound axles, why does some axles crack or the spring boat shears off?
Good shop and yes the suspension is that important
There is a cliche' about Illinois roads. "there are two seasons, Winter and Construction".
I thought Grand design 5th wheel frames were how do I say junk..
You watch too many negative youtubers if yourube was your source in that assumption. It's only particular floorplan models that could be effected with frame issues. My unit has the Rhinobox frame design and is 40% stronger than the frames with issues. You have to do some research. Don't jump on the crybaby bandwagon.
Wrong. You don't know where I get my info. Anything more than 1 frame issue with GD is too many. There are better options out there.
Illinois 😂, ever been to New Mexico, Vermont or New York? Can't even get up to 45 mph with a big RV on many roads in those states.
Thats why i buy rockwoods torsion axles and no problems . Denis from Santa Rosa Ca
Left one thing out after 250 miles I felt better too not so tired.
Yes, great point!
$8000
@@terrybader5723 thanks a bunch
Looking at getting a 5th wheel toy hauler The first thing I’m doing is having this suspension installed 😎🍻
Do you put electric over hydraulic brakes on if you want them because to me it’s the best brakes you can get ?
Next area of improvement. Fix the stiff and jarring suspension on the trucks themselves. it appears that your truck rides so rough, your voice does that jiggle stutter as you talk while running down the road.
I see now that you actually had this install a year ago. We did this 3 years ago. Wish they had the bolt on back then. What disc brakes did you have before? They looked like they were DeeMax.
What does this cost to convert a triple axle job like this? I kept thinking you would talk about that in the video. Many of us would like to know.
It varies between the 7 & 8K axles and if you are adding disc brakes. You can call MORryde at 574-293-1581 for a quote (mention us for a $100 credit)
More specifically, how much was yours?@@EnjoyTheJourneyLife
I am sure it was a ridiculous cost. I have the same trailer with the FlexAir TrailAir tongue and never had a dish or glass or anything break in 60k miles. You will never, ever, recoup that cost. @@rogermurphy1548
I thought Hayden left MORryde a long time ago. How old is this footage?
Great video! Where will you be able to get your toy hauler aligned? Ie, rv dealerships, garages, etc.
That’s an awesome upgrade! Did they mention burnishing the brakes?
My r pod came with the IS, amazing ride.
How much does this system cost to upgrade, I have a 2007 Teton Forrester.
Hurricane force winds coupled with a 5 to 7 constant earthquake........
Thats life on the road.
Check your brake fluid, seems your lead driver side line might be leaking...or it could be water?
Very impressive. Good job.
Thru Birmingham, AL on I-65, 20 miles of hell.
Put shocks. Will help 50%
Put a shock absorber at each wheel.
Good luck!!!
nice upgrade, I would love my rv to have this. ALSO at 46:30 you have some liquide spurting from the system, I hope its not your breaks bleeding out
Seems to me with the amount ya'll have spent on big upgrades, might have been better to get a better made RV upfront.
Yes!
I doubt they spend much on upgrades at all. They get them all FREE as a sponsorship deal.
Luxe trailers have IS suspension... My 2023 has weld on system. It was OEM.
This gaslighting the manufacturers is BS!
The frigging things are supposed to be made to go down the roads!
$150K for something that needs a new suspension right out of the gate is a crime.
How much more weight did those axles add to the trailer
46:30 mark is that liquid coming from the front left suspension area? brake fluid leak?
Just a little fresh water coming out of the overflow on a turn.
How much weight does all that add ?
Why cant you put shock absorbers on the axles that you had
I guess I need to go dig in MorRydes trashcan for a disc brake setup. You just tossed three sets. 😢
my opinion what comes factory typically designed for lot crawling
and sadly within the 35-45 foot length we're averaging 1.5-4.5 tons more payload vs what we seen in caravans of similar size in the 1970's and 1980's
notintinf 5th wheels of today are getting heavier to a point th ford f550-750 or semi should br used as the tow vehicle
I hope they checked the alignment.
Another question you pay almost $90,000 for a tricked out RV, but it’s not put together right as I watch this video and I see” the system looks very capable of doing what is supposed to do, but why isn’t it not standard?
I think it’s just a rip off you pay all this money for something that they do not bill to standards
That would last
Roads are bad, they've been bad for years.
Should be done from day one at the factory.
You would think since,
" Comrade Pritzker ", Governor People's Republic of Illinois, multi Billionaire, ( His words ), would spend some of those Billions and fix the roads !
Every Summer you are forced to drive thru a labyrinth of construction barrels, but the roads never get any better !
Just like his governing !
👎☹️
The toll roads are terrible, also. I drove like 40 miles of road on toll road? Didn't see one person working?
RV’s are such a horrible investment. Never sell an appreciating asset, your house, to buy a depreciating asset, your garbage RV.
RV’s are not an investment, they are an expense. Just like any other entertainment expense.
nice upgrade what's the cost?
I am sorry, but I think
When you’re spending $125,000 on a fifth wheel trailer, it should come from the factory with independent suspension we as consumers should not have to sink another 10to15grand into it to get what we deserve 😢
Very sad and uncalled for
Still have a crappie frame under trailer. 🤛👍🦅🙏😎🇺🇸
What is the cost?
What was the total cost?
We had it done in May 2024 and we already had 8k axles and Disk so the Morryde IS was $6800 with two free meals and a T-Shirt
@@rvfuntimes6144 The meals and T-Shirt were FAR from FREE. They rolled them into the cost of the job.
i beg to differ about the quality of the builds don't blame the roads for it water tanks leaking upon delivery isn't the roads
Well how much did it cost tom
Do any campers come from the factory with these axles.
Maybe not towing something around that is so big that it should just be moved from point A to point B and left there, moved very infrequently. These 5th wheel units are just way too large.
Nothing like measuring in the dark 😅
How much weight does this ad t your RV
I really wish I had your old axles 😔
Awesome
Wheres the lady at that was on this channel?
If all things are true in what these two guys say….Then why would the manufacturer not put a proper suspension on knowing that the RV will accrue damage
You do know they took your old axles and resold them for quite a chunk of money
Does it change your GVWR?
No legally it doesn’t change anything. But it you have it installed as original equipment it raises it by 1000 to 200 pounds depending on all the factors.
@@buzzward812Did you mean ....raise to 1000-2000 or raise to 100-200 lbs? I assume the first
@@markratliff7991 If your manufacturer had installed the IS during its original manufacturing process it would raise your GVWR by one to two thousand pounds. However, being installed aftermarket there is no way to legally change the manufacturers decal that is on your camper. What determines the one to two thousand pound increase is anybody's guess. It's up to the manufacturer to determine what their frame and other components will handle.
Put that wine glass in front of your face and say the words to infinity and beyond i would swear you are related to buzz lightyear
Even with the IS your still haveing all the frame problems.
Your old axles are going right back onto someone elses trailer
Are those Westlake tires … you’re kidding!,
LOL, we've had good luck with Westlake G rate tires. Believe it or not, the spare that was on the RV at the time was because of a leaky rim.
it wld be nice if we cld see the water in the glass...USE A CLEAR GLASS.
Come on guys, my house wasn’t made to travel down the road, the RV was! Build better.
Distracted driving all the time
